Unlock phone without pressing the OK button (like iOS) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Is there a way (mod) to UNLOCK the phone by just pressing the password and skipping the OK like it is on the iPhone ?, thanks

Use a swipe password. Much faster.

face unlock is the best

Yeah, try Face unlock, its soooo cool. There are plenty of unlock options, just go to Settings>Lock Screen>and/or Lock Screen Options.

Yeah but,
Great ideas everyone, but none of these options are available if you have an Exchange account. Depending on your Exchange policy, the user may not even have the Settings entries described above.
Assuming you want to (Or are forced to) keep the PIN pad, is there any way to change the behavior to what the OP described?

Use a third party email client -- I use Touchdown (I have no affiliation with them, other than having paid them $$$ for the privilege to use their product). This allows you to ignore device policies for the whole phone EXCEPT the contact with the exchange server. And my solution works reasonably well.
Alternatively, you could root and then fake out your exchange server -- there is a separate thread about this floating around these forums (Note 2 forums) somewhere.
In any case, good luck.

Where do I find the passwords file on my rooted EVO?

I have a Rooted EVO and I would like to know where I can find the passwords file that is supposedly accessible.
Thanks
Well i wont start the flame war about you stole the evo so fuk off go someplace else..... but........
I dont think anyone here with half a brain is going to help someone do this....
There are NO passwords on an evo unless its a third party lockdown app... and then... good luck
The unlock screen code isnt a password as we know it so ....

Did you try looking in the Q&A forum?
Edit:
Seriously though, you wont find it there. You just should have posted there.
I think I am happy with the location of this (if there even is one) not being common knowledge.

Make a request to the app developers who are storing passwords as clear text that they should switch to a different system.
FWIW, while storing passwords in the clear is dumb, even if they were encrypted it will still be trivial for an attacker, assuming the phone is rooted, to compromise the password, all they have to do is compromise the part of the authentication process where the password is decrypted.
The only way to protect yourself against password while using a rooted phone is to be absolutely sure that the apps requesting root permission a) require the permission to actually work, and b) don't abuse root privileges.
I knew that accusation would be quickly following my post but actually it's not stolen. My GF logged into her gmail account on my phone and I can go in an access it but I want access to her Facebook... I think she might be cheating.
Thanks

NFC Use through Lockscreen on Nexus 7 and Operating App In Front of Lock Screen

Hey guys,
I did some searching and asked in some IRC channels, but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. I heard Biwoto Cerbero can maybe do I what I want it to do, but even though I'm in New Jersey, their app keeps downloading in Spanish for me. (I emailed them, I'll update this thread if that app can do what I want)
Basically, I have a Nexus 7 I'm trying to enable as a beer pouring authenticator for the Kegbot project. NFC authentication is easy past the lockscreen, but I also want to be able to use the tablet. Seeing as how I'm in college, letting some drunk friends play with my personal gmail sounds like a bad idea.
So I have two questions. One, I haven't seen this for the Nexus 7, but I know it's possible-- how hard would it be (presumably in a custom ROM) to enable NFC to work with the lockscreen off?
Two, is it possible to implement a top lock over my pattern unlock, wherein the top lock (could be anything, but presumably just a simple swipe) would allow access to only one application (the Kegbot app that responds to authenticated NFC tags by offering to pour a beer), but still keep another lockscreen in place to prevent other apps from being used?
That would also allow me to keep an app that writes specific strings or something to the tags to allow for access control if I don't want people rewriting their own NFC cards. (Though I could always write lock those)
Thanks!
Hate to reply to myself, but I think I've found the answer.
So my googling turned up this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5iaXdvdGEuY2VyYmVybyJd
It has some localization issues they're trying to fix, but it's not hard to change the language to English if you play around with the settings.
I've been emailing back and forth with one of the developers, who has been helping me out a ton. If you have the premium version (only a dollar), you can call their lock screen (either PIN or NFC) to come up after you leave the application you are in that you want to restrict access to. So I have my face unlock, get past the Cerbero lock, then I open my app. I call an intent in the app on destruction of the launcher activity that brings up the lock again. It's not the cleanest solution, but it works for my purposes.

Did you have any luck being able to use NFC without having to unlock the screen? i've seen other device specific solutions on xdad but nothing for the Nexus 7
Thanks.
Some time ago there was a modified nfc apk wich worked in both my nexus s and galaxy nexus...and it could do that.

I belive it was on gnex themes and apps forum.
Anyone found out how to get NFC working without the screen being on?
I've tried several methods under Gnex and GS3 forums but it doesn't work.

Do you password protect your phone?

I use executive assistant so I can preview emails, calendar, and texts on my lock screen. I disable Google lock because its a pain to have 2 unlock screens. However it is pretty insecure, so just don't know how important locking really is...

He moved it to the Q&A section.
I do especially when I go to work. Never can trust anyone. I use pin and cerberus. That way i know who is looking at my phone. Cerberus is a must have security app.
You must root the phone to get the best out of the app though.

How can you not find it if you're posting in it? I moved this whole thread to Q&A, because you posted it in Development. Doesn't belong there. As for you not being able to post in General, I have no idea what's going on with that, but it doesn't belong there, either. It's is here, you're posting in it, move on
I use the pattern lock.
I like the pattern lock because it is easy to "type" extremely quickly and keeps people out of your phone.
Of course, I don't store anything sensitive on my phone, because if they had physical access then they could do w/e the please.
I am not sure how secure stored passwords are.
My way around this is that I have my own domain.
If you forward your MX records to google then you can have <what-ever-you-want>@your-domain.com as a google email account. Then, you set an admin account and never log into it on an unsecure device.
You primary account used for email and phone can be used regularly, and if it is compromised you can retrieve the account with your admin account.

[TW] Bypass Exchange Security Policy on Galaxy S4 Android 4.2.2

Hello All,
I've been searching how to bypass the Exchange security policy on our device and was unable to really find anything.
This is a MOD that exists for Vanilla roms easily, and is also available for many other ROMs in the form of modified APK's.
After a bunch of searching I was able to find a MOD that would patch up the APK's on many ROMs, including TW ROMs.
I have nothing to do with this work, and all credit goes to its creators in the link below.
You will have to download this to your computer, and have Java SDK (JDK) installed on your machine.
When you run it - it will say that it cannot identify the EMAIL APK and ask you to type the APK name.
On our phone it is: SECEMAIL_J.APK
(It is located in /systems/app folder, if you care, though you don't need to know this)
The program will also create a backup of this APK file, as well as the SecExchange.APK which it modifies as well.
Good luck to you all!

Everything seems to line up just fine except it seems the security policies were applied anyway...
Note: FRESH BRAND NEW PHONE
1) Rooted device.
2) Setup my exchange mail settings, device asked me to accept policy changes, I closed it (not agreeing).
3) Downloaded the attached file (on that thread) "email-policy-patch-3.3.zip"
4) Extracted it...
5) Plugged up my phone.
6) Ran apply-patch.cmd
7) Said "Can't find Email app. Enter the name of your Email apk or press <Enter> to exit:"
8) Typed in "SECEMAIL_J.APK"
9) Finished patch successfully.
10) Phone rebooted and I open the mail app accepting the security policies. Then it made me set a PIN instead of my pattern.
Note: I did try to delete the email account and re add it with no success..
Now I'm confused... Why do I have to use a 7 char PIN? I thought the whole point of this was to avoid the security settings.
Ideas?
I hope this did not work. otherwise it is a huge security risk for the exchange server.

It's been working for a lot of people... I have said it before and I'll say it again...
If you want to control the data fine... But NO ONE, will control my phone but me. To give a single company access to my entire phone is ludacris! There is no reason they need access to remote wipe my entire phone. If they need the ability to wipe the exchange account and all the relevant data with it fine, i'm ok with that... Now if they want to pay the $600 for my phone then we will talk ...
It worked!! I can't believe it. Thank you so much.

True enough. But then I don't have to let you use my exchange server if you don't abide by the policy I set forth, do I? This is not about your phone.

Got it working fine at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47125823&postcount=1189, includes patched apks.
I thought I saw xposed modules for this.. why dont you guys use that? Its much cleaner and will survive rom flashing and it gets updates too
Don't enable security during offwork
Pretty simple. If you're not paid during off, then don't enable security on your phone. Or create an app that disable your security during off hours.

Exchange email security

Hello,
I would like to know if there any way to remove security from exchange email. I really hate to put a security or pin number when I need to look at my phone''. Any help?
Thanks

Cool way = tasker+ autoloction + auto+auto input
You can make your phone enter the pin automatically when you are in specified locations ie home, at work or in car.
Other than that I don't know.

No!!!! Well thanks anyway. I'm sure google knows the answer.
Of course there is a way... this is android
Here is a flashable zip which is a modded Mail.apk. It works on all android devices
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749921
Here is a mod which also contains an option to disable exchange security requirements. It works on atnt and tmobile galaxy s4

Just be careful which coworkers you show off to
