What is the best way to restore data backup from a tw rom without getting a bunch of force closing. I know about restoring apps with data from TB but I rather restore my entire setup. With having to set up my screens all over

Restoring screens and settings is always problematic, especially when going between ROM types (TW and CM10).
Best case for restoring screens is using a launcher that allows you to back up the home screens.
Restoring settings is best done manually.
Restoring apps can use TB or Mybackup root, or any number of other backup apps.

Just wanted to know if anyone else had issues with this rom endlessly force closing and rebooting until you pull battery. And if so were you able to fix or correct it?

When you flashed the ROM did you go into recovery and wipe/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache (found in advance)? You have to do that before flashing to different ROM's.
Another issue that may have caused it is if you did a restore of all your apps with Titanium Backup. I'm guessing it's the second one because that happens a lot when you overwrite apps that came with the ROM.
I prefer to redownload all my apps manually and I only use Titanium backup to restore the data portion of the app after I installed it. An example would be restoring my data for the game Angry Birds so I don't have to start the whole game all over again.
Yeah I wiped everything its not my first rom but I think it was when I did my restore from titanium backup

I'm having the same problem. If i try to restore data from a nandroid backup it either never boots or the screen stays black. I need all my backed up data so unless this get fixed i can't play with it. I was really looking forward to making that rom my daily too!
I had the same issues when i tried gengersense originally.... defiantely the titanium backup issues... i've started only using that as a good list of apps and for user data. I've used it to restore apps sometimes they don't end up working right. BTW even the synergy nightlies work well enough to be a daily... my favorite rom yet.
Plus one on the titanium.
When coming from a different rom, only restore apps and app data, kind of a hassle but dont restore settings, it jacks stuff up

Im using Titanium right now but wanted to know if there were any others out there that did the same that are worth checking out. I want to be able to backup my apps and the apps data and be able to restore them like Titanium.
Titanium is good but I find too many errors in the backups that it makes. I want to be able to restore apps with their data.
Any suggestions?

Rom toolbox pro. It's also got root explorer, icon changer, rebooter option, app manager, and a build.prop editor. It's got nearly everything you would need.
Ill try both. Thanks for the suggestions.

The problem with titanium back up is that its"too good". It backs up the data as you currently have it much like a nandroid back up. That's great if you don't switch ROMS, cause if you accidentally delete an app then you can restore it. A lot of new ROMS don't tolerate any data at all though so it kind of renders titanium back up use less. If you do use it you will get errors because of the data it restores. Your apps need a clean install when switching ROMS. I suggest. AppBackup off the market. Its free and makes a full copy of all your apps by pulling the apk from the system and saving it as a file on your external sd. You have to re install the apps but it leaves the data alone. Unfortunately you can't save your high score onpc angry birds while switching ROMS. At least ICS ROMS.

Titanium Backup has the option to restore app and data, app only, or data only so this shouldn't be an issue. I have ran AOKP since build 32, and have never had an issue restoring user app plus data from one build to the next. I can't speak to different Roms though.
My Backup Pro.
Been using it for Months.
Excellent Backup/Restore app.
look i have used them all and by far the best for the buck is rom toolbox pro it has it all with ultimate backup built in.it will automatically backup new app if u want it to so that way if u forget before switching roms ur still good to go plus all the bonus the toolbox has makes it in my opinion the best app on the market
Astro file manager does a good job. That is what I use, it backs it up and installs your apps.

My personal favorite is "APK Batch Installer Tool" hands down! It allows for multiple back-ups to your PC, saving space on your device. Save just the APK's or APK's with data. One of the things I like best is creating folders on my PC, indicating the ROM and version. So its a no brainer if i want to restore a favorite ROM with data I simply select the appropriate folder. A hidden feature is the ability right click and choose back-up/restore all. These functions can be performed wirelessly or by usb cable. Also you can "fix permissions". With a short learning curve, frequent updates, solid performance, its become my must have app. Don't forget to show the dev some love.
The problem with titanium is that i have to use classic installer and its a pain when u got 60 apps backed up. But I still think its the best backup app out there. As for the guy saying that its incompatible when switching roms there a workaround. All u have to do is uninstall and reinstall the troubled app then restore data separately. I ran into that problem from blue kuban 1034 to 1035.

Also titanium has more options than romtoolbox btw. Not trashing on romtoolbox its still the best utility knife but just the backup functions and options comparison I have to say titanium hands down.

I've had this problem on every ROM I've tried but one. Everything is working fine until I restore apps with titanium backup then MMS won't send. They just hang. I don't know what app is doing it or if it's just the act of restoring the data. Really giving me fits. The only ROM that MMS worked after the restore was CleanRom 2.0. I thought it may have had something to do with touchwiz since I did not have it on that install, but further testing has shown that is not the case. I'm stumped. Any Ideas?
I've restored 3 times and is worked every time for me so I can say it does work. Not store what to tell you add to why yours is having issues. Maybe check the apn and make sure incorrect settings aren't getting restored or changed.

Are u guys restoring system apps ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Don't restore system apps, system data or system processes with Tibu. User apps and data only. Restoring system apps will cause some of them not to work, and can destabilize your ROM. Fixing permissions doesn't solve it.
Do a full, clean wipe reinstall and restore only user apps. You'll have to re-do your system settings manually, yeah, but that takes ten minutes or so if you note what you've done down before wiping.
Ya....What he said

Restored system data only and apps and data but I only restored system data that I needed like email accounts and stuffand everything works perfectly.

Nnn
I'm an idiot
Just found the problem. It seems AdblockPlus was blocking mms (wtf?) but once I turned it off they went just fine.
I never restore system data/apps... just user apps and I only restore data to games I have put a lot of time in or others that would take too long to restore the hard way.
Need to do it this way

Does it exist? I've just been fresh installing everything since day one, and I'm fine with that but if there's a faster way without sacrificing stability I'd take it. I've heard both good and bad about titanium backup.

When you install a completely different rom, a full wipe is necessary. No way around that. Titanium backup pro will help you restore apps and data quickly. Free one prompts you to install each app individually.
Yeah, I used tb to install apps and data but that seemed to slow the ROM down to a crawl. Even just restoring apps seems to inhibit the ROM a little bit. I'm more than willing to just fresh install the few apps I do use just to be safe. I get super OCD with making sure I get a good flash.

I don't think there's any way quicker to restore apps and sms than with TB and SMS Backup and Restore...there's always the backup feature in Nova Launcher too (if you use that). For a long time, I stopped making nandroid backups, and after flashing multiple Roms every week, I appreciate their true value now lol
I absolutely adore nova's restore feature resetting up my screens was my least favorite part of flashing, especially when I used to use a ton of widgets.

I'm currently using Titanium and just wondering if there are any apps that possibly do the back up and restore quicker than Titanium. It currently takes more than an hour to restore. Granted I probably have a bit there to restore but just wondering if there are better options
restoring from a nandroid backup is pretty quick. also 'sms backup and restore' is fairly good.
err on the side of kindness
I'll look into the app. Nandroid I can't use as I'm usually switching roms

Some sms apps have a built in backup function.
I just use hangouts

"My Backup (Root)" It.backs up and restores SMS/MMS...works great...don't need paid version if all you want to do is SMS/MMS backup restore
