Hey guys,
Is their anyway to sync new contact pictures with my Google account contacts? So I can get all my contact pictures the way I like using a Facebook sync app but they only change on my actually phone, is there any way to make them sync with Google off the phone so I have pictures for all my devices and just in general?
Any help would be appreciated,
Alex

I use haxsync

While initially time consuming, I wound up downloading my contacts pictures from Facebook to my computer and then set their pictures via the Contact Manager in Gmail... probably not the best solution, but it does work in terms of having the same pictures across all devices.
Haxsync actually sync the pictures to your Google account or just your phone? I already have then sync from Facebook to my phone.

no fix for the past 2 years and none in sight
they're forcing users to google+ instead
even if there would be a fix for the 96x96 pixel Gmail contact photos, one would need to reupload every single one again...
Is there a way to manually link people from Facebook to contacts on my phonebook? Some people use nicknames on Facebook so haxsync misses them when it syncs because the names don't match

Go to HaxSync settings and manually pull the contacts from Face books with different names. Go to the persons number contact and go to settings and join find it and merge them together.

You mean go to "additional friends to sync" and then go to the contacts I want to sync on my phone book but how so I merge them? I can't link them, I can't edit the connection its just automatic, I kinda miss this fubcionality from HTC sense

Now go to the contact you have in your phone click it go to edit then press setting in edit mode and you'll see join. Find the Facebook one and join them.

Just a heads-up: starting with HaxSync 2.5.x, this can be done by using the built-in Contact Manager.
Okay this isnt a complete solution for jb but if you use Facebook for alot of your numbers then this will work for you. Unfortunately for now haxsync doesn't sync numbers just pics, statuses, etc etc so what i did was use an app called super backup: sms and contacts and backup contacts in an ics rom that supports fb sync then flash the jb rom and restore contacts with the same app. You should have them all and it actually makes them into regular contacts so you dont have to use fb anymore for them. If you want hq pics then use haxsync or any of the other fb picture sync apps

Nice find, I wish I saw this while I was still on ics. I made a post about this a few weeks ago but didn't get much input
Thanks

Np and hey you can just backup your current setup and then flash an ics rom that has fb sync and go back to the backup. Itll take maybe 30mins max but its worth it if you need the contacts like i do

I might just use my old sgs2. Sync the contacts there and copy over to my nexus

that works too lol
Thanks for the info
Np. Glad i can help

Another workaround:
I was going to start a new thread on this, but since it's my first post I feared getting flamed..
So, here's the best workaround that I've come across for phone number syncing for Facebook on Jelly Bean..
1. Go ahead and sync your facebook contacts by clearing the Facebook app cache and adding your Facebook account to your phone. It will ask you to sign in, and then it will sync contacts without phone numbers.
2. As you try to dial someone's number and you realize that it's on Facebook instead of Google, open up the Facebook app and search for that contact by clicking the "three horizontal line" icon on the top left.
3. The contact will have a phone icon next to their name if they have their phone number stored on Facebook. Go ahead and click the phone and it will bring their number up in the dialer.
4. On the bottom right of your dialer, click the "three dot" icon and select "add to contacts". You know what to do from there.
It's not the best solution, but it's the best i've seen so far. You won't have all of your contacts at once, but you can search for the ones that you know right off the bat, and then search for them as needed later on.
Thats a really long process lol i have over 300 friends so that would take forever. My process saves you alot of time and has the added benefit of turning the fb contacts into regular Google contacts.
Also haxsunc doesn't sync numbers so alone it was useless to me lol

All of your facebook contacts can be dialed directly from Facebook. So just keep them on the facebook app until you need to dial a specific Facebook contact, and then take the extra 2 seconds and save it to Google contacts before you dial it.
Plus, I'm sure everyone doesn't need that weird kid from science class from the 7th grade's phone number. This way you can pick and choose who to add as you need it.
Even if there is eventually a way to sync every facebook contact, i much prefer this method.
Thank you for the tip

Haxsync in the app store will do it.

You could try adding the fb account under settings. Or delete the account from your phone and add it again.

I recently backed up my contacts through the Samsung online service as well as the sd card option. But the problem I am facing is that when I restore them the contact pictures tend to degrade in quality exponentially ! Is there any way to back it up without losing the quality?
NOte : Rooting is my last resort and my device is the International Note 2
Well i have set some of my contacts with picture thru gmail and some from the phone.
The ones fron gmail always appear clear and perfect but the one from phones are not so much

Is there any app that saves them offline with the original picture quality?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
it has to do if they are favorites(starred in android) or not!
all the favorite contacts have high quality pics and all that arent "starred in android" have small pictures
a small walkthrough i have found is to have internet connected, sync on and the contacts that you want to edit you press the star at each contact one by one
and you wait for about 3-4 seconds and then you press again the star so to be removed from favorites contacts
plz try and let me know!
If synced through Gmail, open the contact on your phone and wait a few seconds, it'll sync the picture to the one stored (high res).
People is there and offline app that backs up contact with the HQ photos?
