[Q] MoDaCo - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to find the download page for MoDaCo. I went to his page, and selected the 9.1 download, and it took me to his site, which I selected 9.2. That led me to some ad, and I looked everywhere for the actual download. Where is it?
Just out of curiosity I have used cm10/sgt7 with linario from twa_priv for a long time, and have no intention of leaving that behind. I was just looking to get some of the original KF functionality back, so I decided to go with MoDaCo. Do people like this better than any JB ROMs?

It takes you to Paul`s website first then you click the download link and fill in the stupid captcha for the regular speed download. So your up and running? Write what it says in the add that is the captcha. just don`t use the altrom that`s for dual booting.

I got ubuntu to launch, and it ran fine. It then proceeded to black out my screen and decide not to do anything. I am still trying stuff.
I understand what dual booting is, but what are the pros and cons? is it better if you are going to be switching between recoveries to dual boot?

Is it faster to dual boot than to switch between recoveries, though? I imagine that I will be doing a lot of switching between MoDaCo and hash's/twa's ROM about once a day...

You do realize you gave NO information at all with your statement. What is it you were installing?
Did you read through the first few posts of this thread thoroughly [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [05/10] GPS NOW WORKING! and follow the directions and install one of the cab files from the download link on the first post?
There's a few options but as I saw beside each download link it showed exactly what the version was.. whether it be android 2.1 or android 2.1 with sense etc etc.
Downloads (Project Android)
the install is really... really simple. I'm not sure how you can screw it up if you follow the directions... ie
Copy to SD card
Install: This .cab has to be installed directly to your SD card or it will not work!
Soft Reset your handset
Run Project Android (MJGDroidUtil.exe) from your new start menu icon and enjoy!
It's really that simple.
Good luck

oh lordy..u need to know those code words..lol or it might not work if u installing the wrong version. so u have a tilt 2 like me n a similar rom. No, u dont need to download the linux in order to get android. heres the scoop. theres 3 android builds...2.01, the AOSP 2.1, and the Klinux 2.1 with Sense 2.5. then u also have a rhobunto program thats a form of linux that u can put in ur phone also. who is ur service with? im figuring att or some GSM network. our phones are GSM but can b used on others also. try out the AOSP 2.1 cab. its the most stable build of Android for Rhodium and has the least amount of things u need to do to get service and data working. First delete any trace of whatever build u tried to download that said didnt work. if u have Clear temp or Clean ram, use that too afterwards. then download the cab file directly to the root of storage card which is /storage . makes sure its at the root and not in a folder. then install the cab. after install..do a soft reset. then when u boot back up, in ur start menu, u should see an Android icon or the Haret. exe/startup utility icon. click on that. then select the corresponding keyboard that matches the tilt 2..its like in the middle or something. this next step is optional but i would do it to have the latest files. next step, while in the that screen, press the menu softkey. U should see something that says Update, Apps, Exit. click on the updates. click all 3 boxes if they not already. then press update. it updates the crucial files zimage, roofts., and the intrdgz files. so ull be up to date. after those update, press close. itll take u back to the startup utility screen. press RUN ANDROID...then hopefully, u good to go...make sure to read the wiki or the project android thread for rhodium so u know what to do if any issues come up. be patient while haret loads up and dont press no buttons...lol the first boot up takes a lil while but afterwards, it loads up way faster. after haret loads, u should be at a black screen that says Android and is flshing. thats the startup screen for android. after that ANdroid starts up. i just wanna emphasize the importance of reading the info up here so u know what works and what doesnt. cuz if u come askn in the threads about something already stated, alot of veteran members might jump on ur case..lol its worth the extra effort. trust me..i know its a ****load to read but its needed so u know the in and outs of whats going on. let me know if u got it up and running. I havent installed Rhobunto yet, so i cant advise on that , if thats what u want. but definitely try the AOSP build. cuz if u get the sense build, u have to enter in ur apn settings n all that. with the AOSP, everything works right off the bat, the voice service and data. once u get seasoned a lil, then try the sense build. if u get stuck on somethin, let me know or send a PM. ill see what i can do to guide ya on the install.
well i got it to work i found out my problem was using opera ten for downloading and it was not downloading all the way and it took forever so i switch it to ie and downloaded fifteen min later it installed and well the only complaint i have is that android sucks my battery dry even in the charger what can i do about it other than that wow i love it...thank you so much

right now with the build, when u boot into android, it doesnt give u accurate readings. theres no way it literally drains the battery while plugged up to the charger unless u got something else in there or like max brightness or somethin..lmfao like u can be in windows and be 100% battery and immediately once u boot into android, itll show that ur only at like 60-70%. its false. it can get all the way down to 5% left in Android, and if u boot back to windows , ull see ur battery still almost full..lol whatever u do, try not to let Android drain the battery completely. it doesnt have a cut off point and will drain it dry and not let u reboot. if that happens , just plug it up to the wall charger, not usb/pc cable charging, and ull be good in 5-10 mins. plugging it up to ur computer after it drained will literally take several several hrs. to get enough power back in there to reboot. your phone needs a minimum amount to get it started.
Glad u got android workn. just make sure to read up on it...even if ur a newb...as u can see , the more veteran members can be snarky at times when people come in asking questions over and over again thats already been answered in the past. The wiki, this forum, and the android rhodium project page will give u all the info u need.

ICS 4.0.4 (korean) CWM-flashable (ZIP, includ. CWM Touch / ROOT)

The Wizard YongShi over at gfan.com did it!!!
Original Post here
Original ICS 4.0.4 (Korean for LU6200 only!!!) as CWM flashable Zip-Version.
Including CWM 5.8.2.0 (Touch-Version) and ROOT!!!
Original Link / Baidu
Mirror / Dropbox / Part 1 of 2
Mirror / Dropbox / Part 2 of 2
No more hassle with flashing a KDZ file first, after that rooting and whatever...
Just flash this Zip-file in CWM (no matter what Version 2.3.5 / ICS you have right now.
Please note:
Wipe cache/data/dalvik/battery and also format cache/system/data/ (in "mounts and storage") before flashing the Zip-file or it won't boot after flashing!!!
After flash is finished, reboot into recovery and wipe cache/data/dalvik/battery and reboot system. Now you should be on ICS 4.0.4 and also rooted.

depending on the location, baidu storage can be extremely slow.
anyway, im really enjoying this update, but anyone knows if there is any possibility to get a stable version of CM9 for LU6200?
No CM9 for LU6200, i asked Ricardo (Dev) a long time ago. They never planned to port it to LU6200.
But with the ICS out, i see no need for CM9 at the moment.
@ali_alex: I will upload it to Dropbox and update the Link later.

Set up your phone number
Try this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lytsing.myphonenumber
Or use a old phone to set up phone number
Sorry for asking, but what exactly means setup the phone number? On the SIM card?
Before ICS on GB 2.3 i had a little app named Sim Toolkit, it installed automatically after i inserted my SIMcard. But that prog is not available anymore.
Weird thing is that i know that the call logs were working on the fresh installation of ICS.
Thanks. But not working for me, cant install the app. It says thats its not compatible with apps which share the same user ID.
Does this mean that everytime one gets a new phonecard, have to do this stuff?
I guess its a little embarrasing for users who dont know a lot about it.
I tried to associate my number with my SIM card on my wife's phone. But back in my phone the number is still not available.

I flashed the new ROM from gfan.com now. All is working well including call logs, still without "my number".
Also they managed to make the weird Icon on the upper right disspear and the ROM is already debloated. I just had to reinstall google apps pack.
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-4333749-1-1.html
that weird icon appears when the phone is in a situation where it can't make 3G video call.. which is usually available in Korea only.
anyway, how did you download the new version? I browsed the chinese forum, and.. i'm just lost there even after using google translator. could you upload the new one on somewhere else just like you did for the earlier one?
update: never mind, i found a way to download it. have you noticed any performance difference between the first release and the v4?
Thanks for clarifiying what that weird logo is for.
It's definitly faster and the battery time is also better. With the stock ICS my RAM usage was going up without doing much,
and now on that ROM the usage is half with same configuration/apps.
The guys have lot of experiences in making custom ROMs, and for me it works.

Thanks so much for sharing the files on dropbox, currently still downloading them. Btw, when you boot with this rom, does the ICS engineer version message on the upper left of the screen pop up?
And after the animated boot logo finishes, does "Android is Upgrading.. Optimizing Applications" also show up?
If you have a download link of gapps for LU6200, I'd appreciate it a lot if you can share it.
Thanks again!

Please note, that the ROM on Dropbox is the ICS 4.0.4 already rooted with CWM Touch but not debloated, that means untouched.
The link i posted later is a new debloated and optimized version but they also debloated google apps.
You can find the google apps pack here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Just boot into CWM and flash the zip like you flash ROM zip's.
Engineer version shows up on all boot screens for ICS (LU6200) at the moment, because it was the only way to bring root and CWM onto the phone. (because the had to flash engineer version before the stock KDZ to get it work)
But it does not mean that the ROM is engineer version, its 4.0.4.
"Android is upgrading" message did not appear on the ROM version i had before, but on the actual one it is.
Only one thing i dont understand, why its always "media scanning" the SDcard and thats sometimes for a long time. Maybe its my card, but in GB it never appeared.

Thanks for the link and other information. More power to you and hope we can get some more variety of custom roms for the LU6200. BTW storing the roms on Dropbox was very ideal for Dropbox users like me since copying the file into my Dropbox account was instantaneous!
I've been browsing the Chinese sites using Google Chrome w/ its built in translator but downloading from from their links seems impossible and ultra slow if the free download was selected
Your welcome...
If you need a ROM from gfan.com or other chinese sites, just let me know. I can upload it for you, since i am in China so the DL rate is much better here.
For Mozilla Firefox there is a very good translation tool available, its now also working with Google Chrome.
http://www.perapera.org/
I've made an account on 115.com its like the chinese dropbox, there i also can just copying the ROMs to... if the Uploader also stored it there.

now what?

Ok after hours and hours, I finally got my KF rooted and online. I have installed superuser with KFU....I also installed the gapps from KFU, that part didnt work. I downloaded from the play store gmail. I am trying to get it to sync.....I think I need the google services framwork or something like that. I want it to be able to sync to my gmail and my phone. I know it is possible...but there is so many different websites and whatnot, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction
thanks
Heather
You'll need to install the gapps zip. Can you provide a bit more information regarding that part not working? Maybe a screenshot of KFU at it?
By the way, I strongly advise you to install FFF and TWRP.

I dont know how to do a screen shot. I've got it up and running. I have it rooted and the market app installed. that all works. The wierd thing is that when I first rooted this months ago...as soon as the KF booted up, all of my apps from my phone were there. AWESOME! But now, I have done the same thing and nothing. All of my amazon apps are there, but thats it. my calendar was there with all the dates, so I guess that means it was able to sync. but the gmail does not sync automatically. I have googleservicesframework.apk on there, installed and changed permissions. do I need the calendarsync.apk?
I used KFU this morning to root and I think it automatically installed twrp, when I boot up the first KF logo is blue, at the bottom there is a boot up menu, then it boots into the orange/yellow KF logo and its good from there. Does that mean I do have twrp installed?
Honestly, I went out and bought an asus tablet because I coulnd't get my KF to do what I wanted it to.. I jsut want to be able to use it as a basic tablet, to sync my email and celandar and run the play store, thats it
Id rather keep the KF because of the size and cost But I'm just frustrated...thanks for letting me vent

Alright, you do have FFF installed (it's the blue KF logo screen). When you start up the KF, you'll notice on the bottom it's asking you to press the power button for a boot menu. Do press the power button a few times until it shows -Recovery-, and see if it boots into TWRP then - from there, choose "Install" and then pick the gapps zip (download http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip and put it in your KF if you haven't yet. You can delete that zip after it's been installed). You may also want to wipe cache and dalvik-cache.

The reason that stuff was gone is probably due to an amazon OTA (over the air) update. To prevent stuff like that in the future, if you have the heart, you may want to look into flashing a custom ROM.

Press the "print screen" (Prt Scr) key on your keyboard (usually, it's next to F12) - then fire up Paint and just paste (control v or choose the select tool and right click on the image, then paste). It's a good idea to save it as PNG for better quality, or JPG for an usually smaller size, then you can either attach it here or upload to an image host, such as imgur.com, and link to it here.

How many times to I hit the power button to get into recovery? I see when I a supposed to press it to get into the boot menu but It just keeps going, the the logo turns yellow orange and boots normally
I would love to install a custom rom. What would you reccomend? Im running an ICS one on my phone. .. Im a little less worried about bricking this, as opposed to my htc phone that I need for work (and thats running a custom rom) Its just that there are so many ways to do things and so many differrent devices that are different in every way possible when it comes to installing custom things
I guess I should be more patient. I figured out the recovery and I have installed the gapps.

A few times, it's hard to say, as it kinda sucks at acknowledging your presses. You'll notice the letters change to a few options, with the middle one saying --Recovery-- or something like that, then just let it sit there and it'll load into TWRP in a few seconds -if- TWRP is installed. You can also just press the power button multiple times until it shows that boot menu.

Well, first is having your issues fixed. As for which to pick, is a delicate matter. You can pick between a stock based custom ROM, if you do like the stock rom look... and there are also CM7 (Android 2.3, gingerbread) and CM9 (Android 4.0, ICS). I'm currently using the sgt7 ICS ROM, but your mileage may vary - each ROM is usually fairly different, and what I like may not be what you like. Either way, you can freely "hop" around trying out different ROMs until you decide to stick with one that works best for you.

[Reward] [Request] [CM 11 ROM] Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 (SM-T900)

I just bought one! and love CM since the release of my first android phone, the Samsung Galaxy S2
There are only custom roms for the 8.4 and the 10.1 version.
There are no custom ROMs available for this device now, and i hate the slurpy/fancy samsung interface.
I am willing to pay for it, for the first nice and clean nightly CM 11 rom + CWM/TWRP recovery and working Gapps for this device.
This device is out for a while now and there are still no custom roms for.
So i hope there is somebody who can help, to get the custom roms madness for this device getting started.
I got you covered.
I can make a stock custom rom which has all the samsung junk removed so the tablet can go faster.
I want a rooted aosp rom, like cyanogenmod or something.
Are you able to do that?

Unfortunately, I can't. (I have a 10.1 and I want the same thing). The thing is the processor is a exynos 5 or something like that and it is (as I have read and understood) quite hard to do. I've tried to learn about making it but trust me it is much more harder than it seems. Even my 10.1 doesn't have CM yet. Still if you like I can make a you a stock debloated rom so it will at least run faster than what you have now.

Still if you like I can make a you a stock debloated rom so it will at least run faster than what you have now.

Well for now it sounds ok to me.
Is it rooted as well?
How debloated is it? Is samsung touchwiz removed?
That's what i'm hating the most. The settings app with tabs, i like the whole settings menu in cm.
And how fast can it see the light?
If its very nice, i can donate something for your good and hard work.
There might be a debloated deodexed rom already here?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776206

No, I tried it, and unfortunately it doesn't work for the 12.2 version. The internal, as well as the external sd card both are locked, meaning you can't even update any apps, or saving any data... you get an error message 110, from Play Store.

+1!
What about an overclock kernel? I debloated my Galaxy tab 12.2 already but have yet to successfully overclock it. I've been looking everywhere for an improved kernel or something to improve the performance, debloating didn't help it that much so a kernel or custom rom would be the next bet. Anyone point me in the right direction?
In school atm, but had a few mins so I built this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5kaDFDMK0TYci14Nm1EOFFnX2s/edit?usp=sharing
Can't reply to any question atm but will when I get home. Not sure if it will boot.
Download, advance wipe in TWRP (except internal/external storage) and see if it boots to CM. Then post what's working and what's not
Enjoy if it works!
Gotta go

Great initiative,
I tried making an install. Unfortunately everything halts at the cm welcome screen with the message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped", Maybe, I'm not too surprised since we're using a wifi-version. But, it actually boots up, so there are great expectations for a cm11 port, within short.
Thanks for all your efforts.

Hey everyone,
So here is an update: (At school so don't have much time but...) This should fix the phone error. :good: However, I am pretty sure Wi-Fi isn't going to work ATM. Since i'm at school can't download things internet is tooo slow, so what someone can do if they want is to download a touchwiz rom for your device or just plain stock rom. Then, on the download go to /system/etc and there should be a folder called Wi-Fi. Copy that to system/etc in the CM rom. And then flash the CM Rom. If Wi-Fi works go ahead and upload the link and post it here.

Just as you suspected the wifi didn't work initially. However, I followed your instructions for the update, and there it was. Here's the link to the updated cm11-4.4.4 w. wifi Currently, there seems to be no access to the internal SD card, as well as the external.
I also have difficulties in finding a compatible gapps, any ideas? Could it be due to the SD card issue? It starts up, but playstore crashes at first search.

Great start Shaheer, apparently I'm running into a lot of the same problems that you initially ran into building the T-520 port.
Could I suggest that you start a thread in the development section for this ROM? I believe that I'm one of the few people having noticed your work, and that's only due to your message. Then we can get a few more people to chip in for heavy testing, at least the initial runs.
It would be good if the gapps along with the SDcard and PC-mount issues could have priority. Once they're up you can at least flash back and forth from the same ROM, without passing through an intermediary stock ROM. Notably, as each flash takes close to 30 min, if not more...However, I can believe they are all the result of the fact that the ROM can't detect the internal SDcard; no card = no mount, no card = no play store download.
On the good side, it seems like the GPS is working, and the bluetooth discovers surrounding devices and besides the mentioned SDcard issue, I have not seen much missing at least mot that can be tested at this point. There's no camera, but that seems to be something most AOSP ROM's for the Samsung tablets are struggling with currently.
Anyway, thanks again, I really appreciate your efforts.

Hey!,
So I was really busy yesterday evening writing a 3 page essay and doing other homework so I didn't get anytime to work on the rom. My thoughts too were to start a new thread in the dev section for this.
I haven't gotten too far with the T520 port either as i'm still learning CM development. (I'm more used to touchwiz ) I have some time right now so give me a bit and i'll try to get a thread started and update the rom to get SD Card working.
EDIT: Actually, I can't proceed till someone can make sure that Google Play downloads app properly. If it doesn't then I need to work on that before anything or it's going to cause major issues.

Help with rooting Samsung Galaxy Light T399 - T-Mobile

Its been a while since I have rooted anything manually and i need some expert advice here.

Does anyone have this or can I use http://androidforums.com/threads/recovery-team-win-recovery-twrp-2-7-0-0.836658/ or https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...recovery-twrp-2-8-1-0-touch-recovery-t2924604 ? Im assuming yes but wanted to double check with you guys before off and doing something catastrophic to my phone.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

There you go
I upload TWRP Themed Recovery on Android file host there you find (IMG,zip, tar) file choose what you want:good:

I used the second one you linked just a couple weeks ago, and it appears to work just fine:

Hey A140 thanks a million! Hopefully I wont have any issues downloading it. For some reason I have had a lot of corrupt downloads from androidfilehost. I know they said they are in the process of moving servers? So perhaps that's why. Can you upload to one more place so we all have a backup here? So in the event others run into the same problem I am having we're all covered. =]

I will try and download soon as I just got back around to this phone again and give it a try and let you know what I think. Right now I have TWRP ver 2.7.1.0 for Galaxy Light T399 ? which appears to be custom and themed? I just now noticed it when rebooting into Recovery from ROMs restart options. It is white, brown and orange with a list menu. I haven't seen this before though again I haven't flashed any other versions of TWRP besides the touch so maybe it's the standard? I did have TWRP ver 2.8.4.0 for this phone which was the grey, black and blue big button themed touch interface I loved so much.
Aside TWRP matters im also toying around with Lightwave-V3 Rom by user @root@ which I switched to from TigerLillly by user DJBoxer. Both seem to be pretty good although Lightwave was suppose to have came preconfigured with a bunch of useful utilities / mods and it appears they weren't configured in the Rom's configuration. I'll have to take a look and see what needs to be modified if they exist within the build seems same with TigerLilly also. I'd suggest these 2 ROMs to anyone with this phone. Smooth, no bloat and no problems so far. However I am always up for trying any others if anyone has some to suggest. Post and let me know.
First post back here in some months. Now back into androids more and attempting root on a few unknowns so hopefully I will have some good material to contribute in the near future. Still hitting that learning curve hard trying to get with the future. I'm still oldschool @ heart stuck with knowledge of the past flip / feature phones, java, crackberries, outdated unlocking boxes and about 100 pre android phones lol. Have the parts to the first android still but unfortunately incomplete. Some interesting times I tell ya. Thanks to XDA and HOFO I'm picking up where I left off quite quickly.

I will post a TON of information on this phone, recovery, rooting, stock/custom rom links and much more in the appropriate thread when I get time free from work. Have done a lot of researching since this post. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-light - seems to have most of my work done lol. I keep forgetting how old this phone is and that it's been ran through by quite a few dev's already.
Upload it
I upload both themed 2.7 and 2.8 to your favorite site I am giving the link down you can download from it I upload zip file you can flash using costom recovery that you have right now if you want img file you can extract zip file you find Img file and if you want to flash through odin than use zarchiver on your Android phone and compress img file to tar and rename it tar.md5!?

Thanks again! For conversions and archiving I have been using 7zip and a few simple batch files to convert .tar + calculate sum to .tar.md5 and and .img to .tar then .tar to .tar.md5 calculating sum.
