old Google voice search - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

can anyone tell me how to get the old Google voice search? the grey one with voice commands? the new Google-now search app is not cutting it for me, and yes, Google now itself is turned off in options. and i really don't like the s-voice either...

disable s-voice in apps-all apps-s voice and your new default double click home button should be the simple Google you want
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

it's not. tried that.

so, from another carrier Samsung forum,i think i have to find a Google voice search apk to download from someone's sii? it's a separate app and not in market anymore and not on the notes or siii?
i thought low voice commands etc were baked into android. but this is not the case? so, can anyone confirm? more importantly, can someone link the apk for us note users?

Try Heywire from the market.
If you are needing to send messages via WiFi to someone else with either a smart phone or computer you might both try using Google Talk or other instant messaging app.

I use Textfree. Its free, uses wifi and they even give you real phone number that your friends can save and text you when they need to. Works great for me

Text-to-Speech + Wifi only Notifications

Are there any working Text-to-Speech apps out yet for ICS?
Also, is there a way to only receive notifications from certain apps ONLY when a wifi connection is on? I want to save my data.
I don't see why existing TTS engines wouldn't work - I use SVOX classic on ICS, just as I did on Gingerbread.
It's only a free trial and the comments said it didn't work on ics. I'll keep searching

Received answer on wifi question. Anyone regarding the TTS? I'm wondering if I should move this question to the development thread..

Any updates on when TTS will be available for ICS? I can't find anything on it.

Google has had TTS built in for a long time. What are you trying to do... just change the voice?

Go into data usage, look at your apps that use most data an click on it. Select a limit for data usage an click restrict data. Great feature of ICS

I'm trying to have my texts read out loud to me when they come in but it doesn't work. It only works when I turn "talk back" on but then my phone speaks everything, lol.

Download Vlingo from the market. Put it in in car mode. Turn on safe reader. It'll stay on now until you turn it off. Your prayers have been answered.

In car mode is on and safe reader is on but it still won't read out loud automatically... Please help!!! Lol.. Do I have to disable ringtone or something? My default messaging application is Handcart if that makes a difference.

If you press the menu button does it give you the option to turn Google Now on/off? If not, you probably need to update search from the Play Store.
Edit: should be under menu button/settings.
Didn't have Google search installed. Now I have now. Question is ,I thought it was for things like opening apps or giving flight times. All I get after asking a question is Google search page

Nevermind I just went ahead and search like I should've. It was a siri like program but it's not so my bad

For that functionality you can try an app called "iris." from the Play Store.

In my opinion s voice is a whole lot better than Google now. And if you're running a stock JB rom, then just hold down the search button and walla there is s voice
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
It took me to voice command, that's not it right? I froze it to use Google now for my search button long press. Do I maybe need to reflash the jb update or do a factory reset?

Never mind, please mark this post for deletion. I figured out how to install it I had to first delete voice command, then it installed perfectly fine. And I can open Google now and s voice both with the search button. Long press is s voice, double tap is Google now.
Although I can't get s voice to activate from lock screen or when phone is locked.
