Hi everyone. I have two issues since 4.2.1:
a: Daydreams do not work. No matter what I try. I set it to work when charging, and charge the phone from mains and watch the screen go to sleep but nothing happens!
b: I read somewhere to check sleep settings in developer options. I cannot find them any more! Have they gone? They are not in settings>apps like other websites suggest.
Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure of the relevance here. My issue isn't with the easter egg - none of the daydreams work.
If you wanted to know the build, I am on 4.2.1, JOP40D

Pressing rapidly on Build number will open Developer Options by prompting "You are now a developer" or something. They are hidden by default.
In settings-about phone-build, press build seven times to enable developer options. Not sure about first part of your questions, but make sure your device is plugged in to either a dock or charger thats active, have set following, in settings-security-screen security i set automatic lock to 15seconds , in screen security i set my power button to lock screen immediately and my phone is set to sleep as after 10minutes in settings-display, if i quickpress power button to screen off then again to bring up lockscreen after 15seconds the screen darkens and a few seconds later daydream turns on. There are some great live wallpapers out already set up for daydream on 4.2. if you are lookin for more choices. Hope this has helped rather than confused, am a noob so not up on technical terms etc

Awesome, I did that, and found that in the dev options "stay awake while charging" was ticked. It's fixed the problem and daydreams now working.
Thanks everyone!

Hi ,
I'm sure I've seen this in several videos of pre-release Android ICS ! The home screen and the app drawer rotate in landscape mode.
Apparently it isn't the case in Android 4.0.1 on the GN... Why, why did they remove the feature ?! Am I missing something ?
[Sorry for the likely poor english, not from here]
EDIT: Seems I can't remove my own posts here for some reason. Slightly rewritten to at least make sense.
There has never been official support for that as far as I know. Some custom launchers implemented it.
What I said above was before I saw you mention pre-release ICS. In that case it indeed seems strange. Perhaps it was buggy?
Home screen rotate
I thought it would as well as am most disappointed , as it actually does work perfectly well when you plug in the mhl cable and turn it into landscape mode. Just dont understand why not without the cable , Perhaps a request to be put in for the next software update ?
Exactly, if you connect it to your TV with a MHL cable you can rotate the screen no problem.

Can you take a picture of the TV screen? I want to see what the launcher looks like in landscape.
I took some pictures, and there is a picture of the lockscreen as well ;-)

It looks quite polished, I don't see why Google removed it at the last minute?
Check your settings, the rotate option might be disabled.

There is no such option. I mean there is but it does not affect the main screen.

There is an option. It's in 'system settings' -> 'Launcher preferences' -> 'General' -> 'Auto-rotate screen'.
Your home screen should now rotate between landscape and portrait. Nice and intuitive setting location, right?

It doesn't work on the home screen. Never did on any official builds. The option is there, but it only affects applications, not the home screen.

Why bump a thread from November ?? And there is no such thing as launcher preferences. You are running a rom that has it.

I didn't really think to mention the rom I'm running. I'm running ICS Passion 10.6. In this rom there are two setting for it, one in 'Display' -> 'Auto-rotate screen' which seems to control rotation in apps, and one in 'Launcher preferences' -> 'General' -> 'Auto-rotate screen' which enables home screen rotation.
As mentioned by joshnichols189, I'm running a rom that has the option NOT an official release. Again, my apologies for the Confusion.

I wasn't trying to bump the thread. I was looking for the answer myself and found this forum post. I found the answer myself afterwards and thought I would be witty and post a response. Of course my response was unfortunately flawed, but still well-intentioned. The thread's only a few months old, I really don't see the problem here.
FWIW, at least on my G-Nex, this app allows the stock launcher to either auto-rotate or be locked in landscape: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker
XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412752
I had a friend bring a unit to my house that has the CPU usage and other information displayed constantly in a bar across the top of the screen while in XBMC... I have no idea how this was set or more importantly how to get rid of it. Out of all the units I've used and played with I've never seen this before.
Can someone tell me what would have caused this and where the setting is to disable or turn it off?
Thanks!
Regards to all!
Bill
In which skin?
In Mimic:
- Go to System/Skin Settings/Home Window/Setup the main menu
- In each of your enabled sections, go to Select infoline, at the bottom of the list is System info
- In Mimic, at least, you need to select this for every section, so you can have different infoline information depending on which selection/section you have highlighted on the home screen
I assume it's somewhere similar, but not exactly the same, for different skins. I couldn't find it in the default Confluence skin.

Go to SYSTEM>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>DEBUGGING and uncheck "enable debug logging"
you may have to set "setting level" to advanced to see DEBUGGING
Just got this.... Will call my friend and have him check that. Thank you so much!!!

Problem solved... Thank you again! Last night I went into expert level and checked all of the settings on one of my units here and somehow never saw that......don't know how I missed it, but I appreciate the answer.
Hi,
I was using Google Chrome on my G3 (v5.0, not rooted) and when I opened a link in a new tab nothing happened, I don't remember if an animation used to happen showing a tab in the bottom opening in the background but this animation is present on the Nexus 5 and on my rooted LG Nitro HD (flashed with CM for v4.4.4).
And when I press the square button to see the running apps I don't see my newly opened tab at the very beginning then directly it appears.
Tried clearing Chrome's cache and rebooting my phone nothing changed.
Can you try it and help if it's a problem?
Thanks,
Wow. I would return the phone right now.
Huge flaw.

Thanks for not helping, I didn't complain anywhere in my post, but seeing this animation not working made me think about other animations maybe not working or a decrease in the smoothness of my phone.
Go to settings, access Developer options, check these: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator duration scale. These are your animations, check if some are off.
If you cant access Developer options, go to about phone and click 7 times on your Build number. After that you will be able to access Developer options.

Thanks a lot man! The Window animation scale and Transition animation scale were both off! I had Developer options enabled but I never ever messed with them... I suspect it's the battery saving feature because when it's enabled all animations are turned off so maybe it was a bug and they were not enabled after it. I didn't think about checking developer options and I started clearing all caches of chrome, home, systemui, reinstalling chrome and wasting my time.. so thank you, a G3 with no animations isn't the same
Just flashed Android M final version from factory image, try the method (long tap on Settings gear) for System UI Tuner, but nothing happens...
Any idea?
It took me several tries to get it to work. I finally went to settings to see if I missed the message, but I didn't. Once I did it once from the settings screen it worked.

Probably the animation is disabled in developer option. Enable it and reboot.

Yes, i disabled the animation...i hope that's the reason...i am not have the tab with me right now, so can't try immediately.
Thanks!
Google is hiding everything from users as usual.
System UI tuner is nowhere to be found on Nexus 7 by default even under developer options. It just doesnt exist!
In order to enable System UI tuner on your Nexus 7 in the first place you have to long tap settings icon and then you get message "congratulations, system UI tuner has been enabled"
Enjoy!
BTW, there is no vertical app drawer by default on Nexus 7 either! You have to download "Google Now Launcher" app from Google Play/ Carefully read notifications once you open this app, it is asking if you want to transfer all icons on your current homescreen to new one or start from scratch

the animation was the trick...or the bug?
Anyway, it's working now.
I am unable to get this to activate. I went under develop options to check the animation settings. All I see is: window animation scale, transition animation scale, and animator duration scale. All 3 are at 1x. Any thoughts?
im using a note 3 running resurrection remix android 6.0.1 and i am also unable to enable system ui tuner. Developer options is turned on, animations are turned on as well, but the gear will not spin and i cannot get the toast message no matter how many times i try to press and hold the button. Please help.
my t-mobile galaxy note 5 just updated to Marshmallow, and i am not able to enable the system ui tuner. any help ?

let me know if you get any answers.
I have the same problem. Doesn't work.
With Cyanogenmod 12.1 (latest smapshot) my problem is the same. The cog keeps spinning around and stops when I don't touch it anymore. Is it possible to edit some config file to activate the System UI Tuner? Or isn't there any Sytem UI Tuner in the Cyanogenmod releases at all?
Heinz
^It does the same in CM13 on my i777. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything because those settings are already available in CM.
sorry, wrong phone
How is this SOLVED? I am having the same problem on a non rooted Samsung galaxy s5. And this did not explain why it is not working or how to get to the system ui tuner. I've tried everything, but the gear doesn't spin at all. And in all the pics I've seen, none of them have hardware buttons like the galaxies do, they've always been the buttons on the screen, the back button, the home button, and the menu button.
I am using asus zenphone 2 laser 5.5.....
I can't enable the system ui tunner...
I tried all the way what are clearly shown above.
Any one help me

Touchwiz removed the settings with one of its updates. There is no current access to the System UI.
Recommend removing the SOLVED part of the title, so as to not confuse anyone searching for solutions.

I think that's easy for you to reset back to the original, isn't it?
Turn "Developer options" off
Turn "Developer options" back on
Wouldn't doing just that reset them all to the original options?
I could do that for you but then I'd lose all my settings, so my 16 screenshots below are on my Samsung Galaxy A325G Android 12 as they are set now.
Bear in mind that many of the options have sub options, particularly if you long-press on them (which makes the number of screenshots a lot!).
So I included an extra couple of screenshots to show you the sub options of the new Android 12 "Developer options" "Wireless debug" sub menu, by way of example.
Also note that some of the Developer options below have "Samsung" in the name, so I can't tell you what you'll find on your brand of phone if it's not a Samsung (I didn't look you up as I generally answer for everyone and not just the OP so that we all benefit from the dialog).
Also please bear in mind the Developer options" are different based on the Android release (e.g., between Android 11 and 12 Google moved "Mock location" from around the middle to the very bottom and they added "Wireless debugging"), my point being you should probably state the version of Android that you're on in your request.
