Does vold.fstab control a mouse or keyboard connected via OTG? Are you sure?
Kernel can't have OTG support. It should work with non storage devices but it doesn't
the vold.fstab show a mount point for usb mass storage devices
No.

In case I have both proper cable and memory card or usb storage device , what more do I need?
Any applications to mount / unmount memory card may be needed?
How am I supposed to manage it? With root explorer would be fine?

You need an app since Android won't mount a USB OTG device automatically. Try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImV1LmNoYWluZmlyZS5zdGlja21vdW50Il0.

question is , how to make it work ? just same way as plug the USB storage device ?
as the USB storage device needs this applications , mouse or keyboard do not requires it ?
Mouse and keyboard do not require apps or drivers, just plain work. Plug otg cable into mouse or keyboard directly or through a hub. Easy.
I haven't succeeded in making a USB DVD usable from my gnex, but that is just silly so I didn't try very hard.

You must have root to use Stickmount, without root your only hope is Nexus Media Importer, and it does not really mount so much as access.

Then why were you trying to use stickmount? That has nothing to do with what you are doing, it is used for otg.
Just plug the tablet in, install the drivers, and that's all there is to it. If that's not working, then you either have a driver issue, or usb ppt or cable issue.

If you mean mount the internal at / to your PC, I think what you're wanting was removed, you may have to find an alternate method. You can also use adb push/pull.

I can use my WD USB HDD mounted via OTG and formatted NTFS using paragon app to mount (root required). This is tested with my SkyHigh kernel.
I don't know if device natively supports it with stock kernel, but should be able to mount at least fat formatted USB HDD without root and visible with Samsung file manager.
Not real sure about the battery, but would obviously use qite a bit. I haven't tested to quantify the "bit".

I have a pair of 2 TB Seagate Backup Plus drives that I use with my tablet. I formatted them as exFAT on a Windows computer and they automount on the tablet when connected. The tablet does not provide enough power to spin the drive. I use a USB Y cable to supply extra power from another power supply.

Could ANYONE please confirm that ?
If it's true it means that a fix is possible via system files.
THANK YOU A LOT
Is it possible to enable USB Mass Storage in Android One?? Like we used to have in old Jelly Bean and earlier Android phones.
I'm in need of it because only direct mounting as an USB stick works in my TV.
Till now, I'm using Custom recovery to mount SD card as USB storage.
Is there any way out??
Can someone write a shell script for this that works properly??
Does modding init.usb.rc or init.sprout.usb.rc for mass_storage help??
And... How does recoveries like TWRP do this??
Thanks
If rom is rooted, so try this
