Hi guys. I have a huge problem. Few minutes ago I tried to install CyanogenMod 7.2-GIO-KANG by use CWM v5.0.2.7. Everything appeared to be ok, but when phone reboot I just can see white word ANDROID on a black background and nothing more. Phone just stop on this screen. Is there any resolution for my problem? I modded lot of phones, this is my first crash. Thx for every advice. Bye
Same issue. Is there a way to restore to stock firmware without odin? Such as from the recovery console?
If before you had an official rom, you must use the ext4 formatter. I think you'll find it in the thread! Hope to be useful

i've noticed sometimes is does take a minute or two to get past that screen.

Now I have a new problem, it no longer allows me to boot the device, it displays an image of a phone connected to a pc. Does this mean I have to flash in odin?

Have you downloaded gio_v1.0.ops?
That may cause the "an unnamed file was not found" problem
all you need to do is "wipe data/factory reset" ... i didn't use any ext4-formatter and it works well..

Edit: Never mind, found out it was kies conflicting. Thanks for the help!
Ok, I used odin and newest stock rom. Now the phone is working fine, like new Thx for all advices guys, that was really helpful. Cya
I have this issue too.
Im new to android but I followed the thread, I:
Root
install CWM, then nandroid backup
flash CM7 in CWM
I downloaded the CM7 KANG file and tried several times, thinking file might be corrupt. Same problem.
Unfortunately my backup didn't work, so I'm ordering a Jig to fix my phone.
But I'd like to know what went wrong.
I didnt reformat my SD card with 4ext though, should I have?
Thanks

I tried this and it didnt work for me
Hello guys,
I think I'm dying over here.
I just got my HTC One X and since I don't really like Sense I tried to flash it. So here is what I did:
1. Unlock the Bootloader: Everything was fine
2. Flash Clockwork recovery via fastboot: Check.
2. Root the phone via Clockwork Recovery: Still everything worked
3. Flash the Bootimage via fastboot: Still green
4. Flash the actual ROM via Clockwork Recovery:
Here's where the problems started kicking in. The Rom started flashing, erased my internal storage, but then aborted for some reason.
Now I have the following Problem: I can get into HBOOT, I can get into the cwm, but thats it. When I try to get to the internal storage cwm tells me: internalsd was not found.
So I thought maybe I'll just set everything back to start via RUU. Problem is: I can't find a suitable RUU. Fastboot tells me my version is 2.17.111.3, but I can only find RUUs with the id 1.26.111.3. Seems to be an older version? Can I use that one, too? If not, has anyone any idea, what to do? I don't know what to do.
Thanks for your help.
You can mount your sd card within cwm recovery . Go to mounts & storage and then at the the bottom you see mount as USB disk. Copy another ics rom to it. And do the procedure all over. Flash the boot.img from the rom do a factory reset and flash the ics rom.
Try another ICS rom first !

Thanks for the quick answer, I appreciate it.
When I try to mount the whole storage as USB drive windows wants me to format it. Can I do that, or is that a bad idea?
Hmm well it depends if you have personal stuff on it like fotos or something. Of not i don't see the problem. And by this you mean the 25 gig that is available on the sd card ?
And what do you mean with "the whole storage" ? There is only 1 sd card in the phone. And that's the one that will be mounted with the USB disk mount option.
You are using 5.8.4.0 cwm recovery ?
Keep the info coming so help can be provided !

Well, no personal stuff. As mentioned, I literally just bought the phone.
I go into the recovery, then mounts and storage -> mount USB Storage -> plug it into my computer -> windows wants me to format the storage of the device I just pluged in...
Should not be a problem then, maybe it got corrupted somehow....make sure that you format it as fat32. Then copy another ics rom, try viper x ..... Great experience with that one ! Just to make sure the whole shabam works !
Chill!

To be honest, I chose cyanogen mod 9. I really like the vanilla ICS/JB.
One more question: What would I have to to, to use JB roms?
No problem ! It's great that it worked !
Well for as far as i know you have to update the hboot IF the CID number of your phone supports it. You have to flash a firmware zip in a way. I'm not into this. I'm waiting for the original OTA

Well, I see. Hm, the way I see it the changes between ics and jb are way to insignificant, to risk destroying my phone. So, I'll stick with CM9 for the time beeing. But again: Thanks.
Enjoy the phone and have a nice weekend
SD card can't be found
SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED
Tried flashing a rom but the installation failed, so I tried again only to get the message
E:/Can't mount/sdcard/
Rebooted my phone to find that the oririnal rom was still working but its unable to read my sdcard because its unmounted. Can't use usb storage or mount in recovery or use any recovery tools that require sd card access
If the HOX was a sealed unit I would simply take the sd card and put it back in
Is there solution to this problem?
Reformatting my SD card fixed the problem
If you want jb ROMs you don't need to upgrade hboot, only jb sense ROMs need to. You can flash cm10 without any kind of problem.
Prior to receiving my GS2 from T-Mobile I did research on how to Root, Flash ROMs, you know, all the cool things Android phones can do, and I mean A LOT of research. When I finally did recieve my phone the first thing I did was root it, which worked flawlessly - at which point I thought "Hey, this isn't so hard I won't have any problems at all!" OH BOY WAS I WRONG.
Here's where everything went wrong: The first ROM I thought I'd install was AOKP Milestone and then I'd try CM10, so I put both .Zip files into my SD card. I backed up to Titanium Backup and to my External SD card through Clockwork mod then I installed AOKP Milestone and made it to the home screen with some force close messages. It was running, but didn't look very stable to me and the whole "Swagger" thing turned me off to it. I went back to Clockwork Mod and the website that I got CM10 from also told me to run DarkSide Wipe before installing the ROM so I did just that. Ran Darkside, installed CM10, then installed Gapps. I then rebooted my phone and CM10 started to load up, but after 10 minutes of just the splash screen I assumed it was stuck in a bootloop. I then restored the backup I made before installing Milestone, but I remember there being an error and it not being successful. It was at this point that Clockwork Mod started being buggy. Starting to panic, I tried a factory reset through CWM. It formatted data no problem, but it would hang at "formatting /cache" until I turned off the phone. So I panicked some more and formatted system, emmc, data. (Not a smart idea, I know.) but it would hang when I tried formatting the cache again. And its been stuck in a bootloop ever since.
I read somewhere that you could use Odin to revert your phone to make it completely stock by flashing a kernel. I thought my prayers were answered! I was finally going to just start over and forget this ever happened! No. My computer won't even recognize my phone is plugged into it. (Yes, I have all drivers up to date. Yes, I am using Samsung Micro USB, and Yes, I have Keis installed.) Since my computer won't recognize my Phone, Odin won't.
* I can access Clockwork mod, and Download mode, but my computer won't recognize my phone when plugged in.*
I know it's a lot to read but I have tried so many things I'm just so discouraged about this whole thing. I know I'm a noob so please explain your answers like I'm 5. I don't understand most Android modding slang.
Thank you.

If you have an external sd card, load a rom on to it from your computer and then get your phone into recovery mode and choose to install from external sd card. See if that works. Also sometimes a cache wipe can take a while. Also don't panic and start doing things you know nothing about. I would recommend and ice based rom then figure how to get twrp recovery then move on to cm10. . If you can get past this, I can help you. Pm me

EDIT: The funny thing is, when my phone is in CWM my computer recognizes it and I can mount USB storage, but won't recognize it while in download mode. Weird.
don't use superwipe with cwm 6+. it will break your recovery and cause a bootloop.
also it seems that a lot of people have problems with cwm 6.0.1.9 and it seems like it doesn't wipe properly so i would recommend latest twrp or sk8terwitskil's cwm. i think that's what happened with aokp and why you were having so much fcs.

Battery pull didn't work either. :/
UPDATE: I've tried installing 3 different ICS ROMs from the external SD via CWM but they all seem to freeze 3/4 through the install. After about 5 mins of being frozen the phone reboots and the bootloop just comes back. Once again I have nowhere to go. I'm lost.
If anyone has more suggestions, please share!
i don't know where i read it but i just remember now that someone said kies and odin are incompatible. so maybe that's why odin couldn't detect your phone? kies might have been running in the bg.
so i would uninstall kies and driver. restart comp. then download and install just the driver from samsung website. then put the phone into download mode and connect to pc. see if that will help.
if not, i don't know lol. usually i would suggest flashing to twrp but i don't know how well that's gonna go over a broken recovery.
I would suggest flashing TWRP recovery 2.3.3 and try and flash a ROM again after....CWM has gone downhill in my opinion.
Here is the TWRP thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768742
Or download GooManager app and install that way
And do not use any cache wipe scripts with this.

You need to have computer install odin driver while you're in download mode before odin works. Try this wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe data/factory reset, format system, format cache and format system. Then flash new rom in recovery.

RESOLVED!
Funny thing is, I just plugged in my phone to a computer running Windows 7 and Odin recognized it! I guess my XP at home doesn't like phones. From there I flashed a stock kernel and VIOLA! Phone is out of the box new! Now I'm very weary about installing a ROM again.. I don't want to go through that ever again. Maybe i'll do some more research before I molest the software's insides.
Thank you everyone for your contributions!
Try recovery from sk8erwitskil, it's the only one that seems to work w/ my Hercules. I had similar problems to what you were experiencing and it's the only recovery that worked for some reason. I am on a GNex now so take that for what it's worth. I'll pull out the Herc. tonight when I get home to update to the CM10 latest nightly, it's been a while.
After flashing Kyrillos Lite n Fast rom on a friend’s Galaxy Ace 2 (gt-i8160), the phone does not detect the sim card anymore. I tried different stock roms and kernels, which all flash and work fine, but the sim card remains undetected. The IMEI is gone, too. I cannot make calls or enter the network settings.
Do you have any idea how to repair this?
Try following the link on my sig! It may work on the gt i8160 also!!

Re: [Q] SIM card not detected
Generally, when you install Kyrillos, making necessary WIPE, read the installation instructions carefully!
. CWM6 Recovery
*- Go to mounts and storage
*- Mount: system, cache, data, preload (Be sure to mount your partitions or the installation is complete!)
After mounting should look like
unmount system
unmount cache
unmount data
unmount preload

For anybody who might get into the same situation: I solved the problem.
The Chinese phones, though seemingly similar in hardware, seem to have some difference, I don’t know what it is.
None of the stock / pre-rooted stock / custom roms and different kernels would let the phone detect any sim card, except for "I8160ZCLK3 / CHNLK3 China".
I found it via this site, which leads to a download list). It eventually leads to a hotfile URL.
Hope this helps! It definitely saved me 200 bucks.

I have over 30 hours invested in trying to get this phone to work. I bought what I thought was a Eruopean version but it was in fact the HK version. I do not think there is a way around this. I am putting the original 2.3.6 back on and sending it back.
The phone is great. I have installed lots of ROMS in trying this. The hardware modem is simply not compatible with later firmwares.

I solved the Sim and IMEI problem
I solve the problem by restoring NVRAM backup of my device with MTKdroid tool. Fortunately i backed up my NVRAM and when i see my phone does not recognize sim card and imei is also unknown, i decided to restore imei by using MVRAM backup of my device and restore it. Then i surprised to see that my sim issue is also resolve automatically, thanks to God. you can also try this for your device and if u don't have a NVRAM backup then try to store your IMEI on your box by using Mtkdroid tool i hope its helpful for others thnks

You must have flashed wrong preloader. Try to search for original ROM for your phone and flash it with SP Flash Tool using Format+Download option. Chinese phones can't get bricked unless hardware breaks down. I've flashed wrong preloader many times and i was still able to flash the right one by holding Vol- button before attaching the USB cable to phone. Good luck.
Forgive me posting what has probably been asked hundreds of times but over the last 2 weeks I have read so much information that I have got myself completely lost and I need help. (hard to admit that but there it is)
I have a Galaxy W that came with Android Gingerbread
A While ago I decided to upgrade that to KitKat using instructions I found online. this involved firstly installing Cyanogen Mod on my phone and then copying the ROM? to my SD card, rebooting and installing.
This worked perfectly and I was running KitKat, the only issue being that the camera didn't work because the phone couldn't see the SD card... there seemed to be no fix for this so I decided to try and change the software to Jelly Bean.
This is where I came unstuck. I copied Jelly Bean to the SD card, and tried to follow the same procedure as I did with KitKat, no good, just kept getting error 7 messages.
Eventually I restored the handset back to Gingerbread, copied the Jelly Bean Rom over to the phone itself and then ran the upgrade again... still the error 7 message.
I now appear to be stuck on Gingerbread, with no way of modernising the handset..
Can anyone help, please don't give me links to read, the chances are I've read all of them and they just confuse me, I need someone kind enough to walk me through all this.
Thanks

I'll assume you already have the latest CWM installed.
1- Install the stock CM11 and GAPPs by arco68 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588495
2- After flashing CM11 and before rebooting, select the wipe data/factory reset option
** you might also want to format you SD card too to remove remnants of older ROMs.
This guarantees a clean install with minimal issues.

I also installed Clockwork Mod (I think that's the rooting part?) but I can't remember which version and I don't know how to tell!

Okay, I'll make it more specific.
To check your CWM recovery version (same as booting manually), read HERE
If you want to install kitkat ROM, you need to have at least CWM version 6.0.4.5 and up installed on your phone (not really sure about the version but 6.0.4.5 will work ). But if you get status 7 error, flash this via CWM. CWM 6.0.5.0 flash-able.zip
If you want to use the latest CyanogenMod 11.0 (20140721), download the following and put them in your external sd-card:
cm-11-20140721-UNOFFICIAL-ancora.zip credits to @arco68
7-24_GApps_Minimal_4.4.4_signed.zip credits to @BaNkS
Then enter CWM and do the following strictly/ carefully: credits to @arsradu
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
under the same menu, format /sdcard0 (be careful NOT to format /sdcard1 (external_sd) by mistake)
install cm-11-20140721-UNOFFICIAL-ancora.zip (from the external sd)
install 7-24_GApps_Minimal_4.4.4_signed.zip (from the external sd)
reboot your phone
Done

OK, so I tried to follow step one of the first link in your post but the phone won't go into recovery mode, I press and hold the correct button combination but the screen just says RAMDUMP MODE - Cause: Force Upload
If I try and reboot normally I get the Samsung splash screen then nothing... help?!!
Scratch that Mr dec0der Sir... I'd like to buy you a virtual pint.
Your instructions have got me back up and running from what I thought was a bricked phone.... not only that but I have a new version of Android to play with.
Thanks so much.
