Gps issues on cm10 - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Does this happen to anyone else? Whenever I flash cm10 or the like my gps gets real funny...most of the time is doesnt turn on at all when I activate maps or telenav. I have ticked internal gps in setting and it does nothing. This is the only reason im not running cm10 or paranoid. Oh and aokp milstone one works fine but the nightly doesnt.. any suggestions or known fixes??

Wifi is constantly on even when set "Plugged in only."

Has anyone experienced this? My phone does go to deep sleep... This is weird.
Hi. Yes i have noticed that too on AOKP M3 and latest CM9 build. At first i thought that some app keeps using it, but same happens after formatting data/cache. Must be some ICS bug. Or Google just wants to have 24/7 access to our phones

That is really weird. I did not even change anything on the phone and it just started to happen from no where....

GPS fix? AOKP maybe cm9 ics

First of all I'm on AOKP 715 m6. My gps was nonexistent even though it was good on earlier versions. I was running a modded vle radio which i don't remember the source. Anyways, i flashed tdj's modded vle radio in one of his threads and gps initial locked on in less than 5 mins. It then locks on in less than a min after that.
At first i thought it was the kernel, so i flashed different ones, but no changes. however the radio definitely fixed it for me on AOKP.
So to those with gps problems try flashing tdj's modded radios. Sorry for being lazy on my phone and not linking them.

This was discussed months ago. Its the basic reason modded radios were made. Apparently the RILS break GPS. So yes GPS won't work unless you flash one of the modded radios, as you found out by accident lol.

I am not using a modded radio I am using the one that came with the ics official update uvle1. And I am running AOKP M6 7-15. My GPS is the best it has ever been I get instant locks even indoors. And It is accurate too. I have also used other roms and had the same results.

yeah i remembered that discussion, and I flashed a modded radio and it worked for most ROMs. I was then really bothered that my uber great locking GPS was no more... I seriously thought I flashed TDJ's radio because I had a file with the same name in my sd card. So I was bummed and decided to test kernels because thats like testing 2 things at once lol. But yeah I ended up checking the md5 of the modded radio i had on my sd card and it turns out it wasn't the same. Must have gotten it from a different thread even though the file name was the same.
But yeah it's just a little reminder to those who have GPS problems, that even though you may think you have a perfectly working radio... you should just flash TDJ's radio mods just in case.
Just flashed TDJ's modded UCLE1 radio...still no luck with GPS

What do you guys mean when you say "breaks GPS"? I am trying to determine if my problem is similar to yours.
My problem is not really an issue with the GPS but an issue with Google Maps. When I use navigation from point A to point B, say Schaumburg to Chicago, it'll always speak directions as if it's going from point B to point A, although all the on-screen directions are correct.
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled, but have not yet tested to see if that fixed it.
Have any of you tried the agps fix for cm and aokp ROM?

I have. I don't know why, but running CM9, my GPS doesn't work no matter what. Maybe the GPS chip broke or something.

Yes this is what I have to do every time I flash a ROM and GPS breaks. I made a thread about it and there are also 2 more threads. Its a zip file you flash through cwm. Also people don't forget that if you're on cyanogenmod that you have to go into location services, GPS source and tick "use internal GPS". Or else GPS will barely work.

Read my post above. Enable internal GPS in GPS source/location settings.

Yeah after doing what you said I've never had an issue. Except lock times seem to take awhile.

didn't know he had a ucle1 radio, he has a uvle1 radio though maybe try that one.
If it is the first time you're trying to lock on, it might take a while, you should turn off wifi and data while leaving your GPS on. Stand outside with it on for 5-10 mins or so, it should get a lock on. After that your GPS locks quicker the more frequent you use it.
I think a lot of people would expect GPS to lock on right away, this only happens if your phone has recent locks to the GPS. I find it best with wifi and data off and to just leave the gps on and google maps on.
btw i've tried the AGPS patch before, but if you have a crappy radio it still won't connect lol.
Here's the screenshot without data or wifi. This is inside my house. Notice the gps signal has a constant dot in the middle, i know for aokp this means i have locked on.probably the same for cm, not sure about tw, haven't been on that for a month.
Anyways it has went as low as 4m, so pretty good. This is without apply the patch.

Download GPS status. Its free in the market. Will tell you how many satellites you're locked onto just for kicks. 4m is very accurate.

GPS problem

I have tried dark side 4.04 and Jedi knight 2 and JMT v8... previously I used to use JMT and my GPS worked flawlessy with no problem. A little while ago I started using darkside 4.04 and GPS was working well as well. Then I installed Jedi knight and since then my GPS is never able to lock on. I have tried switching back to JMT and darkside... but the GPS doesn't lock on...I've tried using the aGPS patch as well but that didn't do anything.
If someone knows how to fix this, please help me out as GPS is a part of my daily life. Thanks a lot!

I had a similar problem with my GPS taking 5 mins to lock in, and i was using DarkSide 4.04.
So i moved to [ROM] Android Open Kang Project | September 13 | Jellybean Build 1 + Nightlies, and my GPS locks in really quick.
Not sure why, DarkSide was really good ROM but the GPS was a problem casue i use it a lot while driving.
but I am really happy with my phone now (Jellybean Build 1 + Nightlies), hope this helps you.

I flashed aokp ...but the GPS problem is still there. I know my GPS works because when I go to Google maps, my initial location is correct but then it moves to somewhere else...is there a way I can delete all my GPS related files...so it starts fresh. I really need this thing fixed...any help is appreciated. Thanks

There a app in the play store called faster fix. Open the app and Change your server to North American pool and apply. That usually works for me because sometimes it'll be set to Asia or not even set to anything. Hope this helps.

Just installed and set it to north America...it initially found my location and a second later, switched back to the same spot as always...somewhere in Philadelphia..

That's weird... I always hear about that problem but I've never experienced it. Try AOKP 9/13 with lg3 radio. That's what I'm running and gps is perfect. Also try uninstalling and reinstalling Google maps. Also use internal gps for location... This is all I've done just posting what worked for me. Let me know what happens.

Holy eff... you just solved my problem. All I did was I just left GPS satellites checked in "location services" and it locked on right away to my location and everything is good now! Thanks a lot friend.

[Q] bluetooth with aokp?

I have the latest nightly from AOKP flashed. Everything works fine except for bluetooth.
Does anybody know if it's a known problem?
I'd flash PA but I've read there are still bugs to be worked out (ie: GPS).
I flashed the last milestone and then reset/wiped my bluetooth device and it works now. It was the reset that did it though.
Good news because I'm loving the speed and battery life of AOKP 4.2.2
