Hi,
I'm having an issue with my Galaxy S3 and was wondering if anyone else has had a run in with this problem. My Galaxy S3 seems to auto answer phone calls when there is background noise. It has happened while at a restaurant, while in the car with music on, and from hearing a lawn blower outside.
I've searched and couldn't find any help or any fixes. I do not have S voice enabled at all, no motion shortcuts enabled, Home button not checked to answer phone calls, no bluetooth headset setting for auto answer, etc. I've tried factory resetting phone but that didn't fix it. I was able to get phone replaced within first 2 weeks for another one but exact same thing happened.
Anyone else ever hear about anyone experiencing this issue? It seems I can't find any thread other than one from googling about it for T-Mobile specifically.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you
I guess you have enable voice command from which you can answer and reject calls. Search in setting of ur phone.

Can you reproduce this problem yourself or is it completely random?
I'm assuming your running stock unrooted

Go to svoice settings click on control apps and another menu should show up make sure incoming calls is Unchecked... Most likely this is the problem.. I know you said svoice isn't enabled but at least check it out.. I was having this same problem..

Yeah, I never even had the S Voice activated on the first one. When I got my replacement I immediately tried that and turned S Voice on so I could uncheck everything. It would randomly happen when there is background noise. No one else I know with the SG3 is having this issue and I've had it on two phones.
I don't have any apps installed (don't even have a gmail account on either of the phones) and it is completely stock and updated to latest firmware.

I have this stupid problem where the phone seems to, in the middle of my conversation, just silence the mic or something. I'll be talking and out of no where the person can't hear me. It's so damn frustrating because this is the second phone to do it. The first did almost all the time and this current one has done it a couple times now. I look at the screen and isn't on hold. It just refuses to output my voice. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. It will let me know if I should send it to samsung before rooting it or not. Thanks. I'm completely unrooted and running 2.3.6. Thank you

Same problem I'm hoping it's a software issue which I'm sure it is

I have same problems during call.
I think it's software modem problem. This problem arised when your phone moved from 2G (GSM) network mode to 3G or 4G (WCDMA or HSPA). GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode).
I tested all modems for T989/T989D and Skyrocket - same result.
As a temporary solutions you may set up your phone to GSM mode only (2G GPRS/EDGE).
Settings-Wireless & network-Mobile networks-Network mode-GSM only
title says it all. the phone is on sound profile: vibrate then it randomly vibrates then the sound profile becomes sound. i dont even touch it it just vibrates for half a sec and its changes the profile
idk what to do
Please tell us some more information about your phone. For example:
Which touchwiz or custom software are you running?
What network provider are you on?
Are you rooted?
Have you dropped the phone recently?
How long has this been going on?

It could be an app. I recommend you delete a few apps, test, and repeat and then report back to see which app. If you have some questionable apps, list just the names here and maybe I could point out a few that could be the issue.

After I updated to 4.2, my notifications won't stop vibrating.
I put it on vibrate mode and went into the apps to turn off vibration, but they still vibrate.
For example I went into gmail to turn off vibrating notifications and it still happens. Also for IM+ I turned it off and it vibrates every time someone sends a chat.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks in advanced.
I am having a lot of frustration about this too. My msg apps keep vibrating and cannot be turned off.

Same thing for me. Gmail vibrates even if vibration is set to never.

Somebody thinks it is a unlucky, "feature" introduced in 4.2

Just in case you are curious, the last update to 4.2.1 did NOT solve the problem (at least on Galaxy Nexus)
A bit of a late reply, but the issue we're experiencing seems to be caused by this: https://github.com/android/platform_frameworks_base/commit/9a7debe5857ffc7c71cfc4082b1b6d72a5cf81cd
Somebody made a commit that forces the device to vibrate, even when you tell it not to, as long as you're in "vibrate" mode. If you want it completely silent, you have to manually turn off the sound it would normally generate as well. Bit of a fail, if you ask me.
Noticed on CM10.1 4.2.1 4.2.2 ROM's that when you call into voicemail or banking menu that requires you to press the dial pad to enter in menus options and account number info doesn't work.
I was able to fix it by turning dial tone touch sounds off in the dialer options. Just thought I'd let you all know in cause someone else is having this issue since a Google search brought up really vague results.
Hope I posted in the right place. Move if needed.

Actually, they work with the tones on. You just need to press and hold the keys a little longer to allow the other end to capture the tone.

That was the first thing I tried.

I had same problem with liquidsmooth 2.1 RC2, and disabling touch sounds fixed the problem. However now that I upgraded to liquidsmooth 2.1 stable, the workaround does not work anymore. Neither does holding button, it's a set DTMF tone length. my voicemail is useless now. anyone have any idea on how to solve this problem?
UPDATE:
I did some more research, and the only thing I can think is the standard aosp phone.apk is used in both roms. I did find a feature request for it. (URL Below) So let me get this straight, my new phone cant dial a voicemail? or use a touch tone menu for calling tech support?
I would post this in developer forums, as there has been many questions lately about this problem, but I'm not allowed because I'm a noob. Guess I won't find a solution to this problem anytime soon. Seems I cant post links either......

Well guys I've tried to find a similar thread, but with out luck. So if there already is a solution I advice moderator to lock down this thread and make a reference to that thread.
I really love my device, but recently it has bugged out big time.
Everything works except for phonecalls, I can make the phonecall and talk. But as soon as the other person hungs up, my screen remains black no mather what I do. So after every single phonecall I have to remove the battery and then restart the phone....and it's driving me nuts!
And yes, i've tried factory reset.
So please gods of android and programming, is there any ideas?
Try updating ur phone or use cynanogenmod its good as hell but u will loose s pen and multitasking.
