I was running the cm10 build on my rooted kindle fire. its a kindle fire 1st generation. i was searching google for and android 4.2 rom for kindle fire, downloaded and flashed it. then when i rebooted, its not working anymore. it turns on normally and shows the blue kindle fire logo from FireFireFire. it says press power button to change oot options, like we normally do. i let it boot normally, and the rom gets stuck on the bootscreen. so i thought i needed to reflash and factory reset, so i force shut it down and turned it on again. this time, i held the power button to say Recovery. it says booting and the power button turn orange. but then it just gets stuck there. it wont boot into recovery. it just sits there all day with the orange light and the words booting. i cant boot into anything. Anyone Please Help Me... Happy Holidays...
Well for one I haven't seen a 4.2 available for the kindle fire so I am pretty sure your system is broken. Flashing it may have affected the other partitions in some way the one I would be concerned with is the recovery partition which you need access to in order to fix it. Your best bet now is soupkit, first to get some communication with the device, secondly to reflash recovery or force it to recovery bootmode. My Kindle Fire Has A Damaged Charger Slot, Where You Have To Put Pressure And Bend It Forward To Make It Charge. And I cant Move it When Its Charging My USB isn't doing well either, I Haven't Been Able To Connect My Kindle Fire To My PC In Forever! However, Thanks. If You Know A Way To Get The USB Port On The KFire Replaced Please Let Me Know please.

Use tape to hold it in place then maybe you can at least get it fixed so it runs.

Sorry for the delay, Christmas stuff. I have tried for days trying to make a contact between the port and the serial bus. it hasnt worked. the best i could do is get it to charge, but it wouldn't do the same with the usb. im using an android phone usb, chich is VERY thick. mabye i should use the stock usb and give that a shot. i will let you know. :good:

i used to stock USB to charge my kfire. after charged, its still in the boot loop as expected. i tried to get connection to the device my using my new usb and wiggling it back and forth. the kf utility still wont recognize my kindle no matter what i do. all i can get it to do is turn on to the bootloader. so to make a long story short, i have a boot loader which cant boot into anything. PLUS, i tried soupkit. wouldnt do a thing. i even tried the kfire unbrick utility. none of them can get a connection with my device.

I just used kindle fire utility to root my Fire. I installed ClockworkMod Recovery (this is what i use on my galaxy nexus). I then wiped data, cache, and davlink and installed CM9 Reloaded 1.2h. My fire then went into a boot loop where the kindle fire logo came up for 3 secs, then turned off, repeat. I then unplugged from my comp and tried again. now the logo comes up for 3 secs then goes to black screen. but i think the kindle is on bc when i plug into my comp it makes the usb connected sound. battery is fully charged. not sure what else to do. cant boot into recovery bc i cant connect to kindle fire utility...
any ideas?

That kind of attitude is what makes warranties more expensive for everybody and forces manufacturers to lock down their bootloaders so modifying devices is near impossible.
If you didn't install FIREFIREFIRE alongside CWMR, then you need to buy a factory cable (search for it) so you can get the device into fastboot mode. Then you can flash TWRP and install the ROM you want.
I'm sure you'll be going to Best Buy anyway.

Rank newbie here. I did l watch the video of forum instructions for newbies and I have looked high and low for an answer I could understand. I am still stuck so reluctantly....Here we go...
I rooted my KF 2 Gen and had no problem doing so. Installed Google aps store, launchers etc. all on the stock OS.
All worked well until I got smart and decided to try a custom rom. It seemed to install fine. Asked all the options as I installed. Did I want Chrome, what launchers, etc. I wiped all the cache options and system. Went through all those screens and when it finally booted, I am stuck at the stock Kindle Fire logo in a boot loop. It will not connect to the computer. It seems to boot before it is recognized Dug on this forum, made myself a "factory cable" and it does work. When I plug it in, I get the Kindle logo a moment then a flashing gif of a stop light blinking red and green with the words. "Fast Boot" at the top of the screen. The problem is, I can not get the computer to "see" the Kindle Fire 2 Gen on this fast boot/ factory cable. I have tried switching ports, all the suggestions. The cable will launch the tablet into fast boot mode just fine however, the tablet does not connect to the computer. ( Windows XP Pro SP 3). I think I can figure out how to flash and restore on my own if I can get the tablet to communicate with the computer. I have no idea where to go now other than having a brand new paperweight. I just bought it two days prior and I suppose I could return it but the issues were caused by me so I don't feel like it's their duty to replace it.

Sadly, the boot sequence terminates and it reboots before it ever gets to the TWRP stage.

No, Soup. I would never get to the blue logo but....
I got it flying! After I got to fast boot, I swapped the fast boot cable to a regular cable and all was down hill from there on. I'm looking at a booted tablet.

Hi guys ... I hope you can help. I apologize if this has been answered, but I cna't seem to put my fnger on an exact next step.
My Kindle Fire HD (8.9 inch) has been rooted before and I did it with zero problems. Last month Amazon sent out an update and I lost root status.
This morning I decided to root again. This time I used Kindle Fire Utility 0.9.6 (binary cmd). I ran twrp, clockwork and fff. At the end of FFF it stalled and rebooted. The Fire never came back on. It will not power on at all. Plugging it in with usb does no good - it is not recognized by my laptop.
I don't think it is hard bricked, but I can't figure a way out of this jam. I have read various posts, but nothing definite jumps out at me as the way I should go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I promise I will pass it on.

Uh ... fff was for 1st gen kf, not kfhd 8.9. Fairly sure you're toast. You could try something though ...
Your bootloader may be toast. If you're able to use fastboot you may be able to fix your problem. There's a lot of threads on making sure adb works ... doesn't seem to be your problem. Hashcode has a good thread on installing twrp using fastboot ... step 4.5 I believe may fix your loader. Just that step.
You'd have to be powered off to go into fastboot (described in Hashcode's post). Fyi, if the kindle (under normal operation) will power on when it's plugged into a power source. If you think your kindle needs charging for a bit, you'll want to connect the charger, wait a moment, then press and hold the power button for 20 to 30 seconds ... at least 10, to make sure it does a hard power off to charge.
If you want to try getting into fastboot, plug in you kfhd ... wait a few moments ... then hold down the power button to ensure a hard power off. You issue the first fastboot command with it off, and if it's going to work, it'll bring up the fastboot screen when you turn it on ( keep it connected).
If all you're going to do is repair your bootloader, you'd issue the command 4.5 from Hashcode's twrp guide, then a fastboot reboot command. That might do the trick.
You should search the forums for the kfhd 8.9 rooting method, bin4ry. That's what you shoulda used. Hope you're not completely bricked!

I have a Gen1 Kindle Fire that will not power up. I bought it as not working so I don't know any history on it. I can usually fix these stuck in boot loop units with no problem.
On this one, I get the Orange/White Kindle Fire logo for 5 seconds and then it shuts down. I have spent a couple of days reading every post in the "5 second bootloop! aka: Don't let your battery die!" thread and have had the KF plugged into a 2 amp charger over night. Nothing seems to work including a factory cable. No drivers get a chance to load and nothing appears in device manager on a pc which loads drivers fine with a different Kindle.
I finally took the battery out and put it in another KF and it booted up no problem. When I went into Settings > Devices it said that the battery charge was 100%. I haven't been able to find any other threads with this same problem.
Now what? Can I use something like Firekit to reflash the bootloader and/or system? Any other ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First let me say that I am new to this site so bare with me. Okay so my first tablet was a first gen Amazon Kindle Fire. After using the device for years upon end I decided that I disliked the Amazon Kindle OS and even the reading capabilities of it. Upon getting an Android phone the Kindle seemed to pale in comparison as it's apps were hardly ever updated and its app store was a disaster. So taking a leap of faith I decided to look up how to flash an Android ROM onto the device. So using the Kindle fire utility I troubleshooted flashing TWRP onto the recovery boot. However for the life of me I could not get the drivers to communicate with the Kindlea and the boot status was "unknown". Being the ignorant and impatient person I am (haha) I decided to use an app called flashify to flash the TWRP into recovery mode on my Kindle. Well little did I know that flashify was not the best option or it wasn't compatible, so I ended up in a boot loop with a device that could no longer connect to my computer using ADB composite device drivers. Frustrated I bought a factory fast boot cable and plugged it in. Now I was able to get out of the boot loop and use fast boot commands to boot and flash images. I flashed TWRP onto the device (finally) and it quickly, without user interaction, brought me to the "wipe device" button. I knew that I had to do this so I tapped the button but the Kindle did not respond, actually not responding to any touch or tap regardless of where on the screen. I quickly understood that I was unable to use the version of TWRP that I have. Unfortunately even after booting up every version of TWRP otter and blaze I still am not able to have any touchscreen capability. If I press the power button it locks the TWRP screen like expected but since the touchscreen doesn't interact with the Kindle I am unable to unlock the device and have to hard reset the Kindle(holding power down for 20 sec). So I tried flashing cannibal open touch recovery and the touchscreen worked (yay!) However it worked in a weird way where I was not able to select an option. I was only able to move and browse my cursor through options. So once again a dead end. So guys I am at a loss right now. I refuse to believe that my Kindle is just a paper weight and I feel like I'm close to being able to flashing an Android ROM. Any help would be appreciated!!!
