So, I am currently running AT&T Stock ROM with Superuser. And immediately after I rooted(only thing that changed) I was unable to send pictures via SMS. Size nor recipient is not a factor, it simply just attempts to send until it times out and eventually gives the "failed" flag.
I haven't seen anyone else posting about it..but I'm looking for advice as to where to start looking for a fix.
Anything is appreciated.
Thanks
Just a friendly bump.
Still experiencing this issue..would love to figure out a fix!
Thanks
There's a separate forum for the at&t note 2 you should post here
"[Sent from a galaxy y far far away] *ominous voice* Hit THANKS"
Can you not just get network settings resent to your phone from AT&T?
I'm on O2 in the UK and when I flash a new ROM I just send then a text and a few seconds later I receive network settings for picture messages.
I know you can add them manually, but why have a dog and bark yourself?

Haha they could use my sig to go to the t-mobile site and have their connections setup... it takes literally like 5 minutes to do... and it is step by step instructions...
And for all you the link is called "T-MOBILE FIX ANY MMS ISSUES (SENDING OR RECEIVING), FIX INTERNET PROBLEMS, E-MAIL, ETC. CLICK HERE"
cant someone just make a T-MOBILE FIX ANY MMS ISSUES (SENDING OR RECEIVING), FIX INTERNET PROBLEMS, E-MAIL, ETC. CLICK HERE.cab
But i'm using NRGZ's Lite ROM and it does not have connection setup.cab and it doesn't have what your guide ask for. I don't have advanced at the GPRS step.
T-mobile fix any mms issues (sending or receiving)
Could it be that because i'm using Ricky & Stylez Rose rom V1.7 ? Because I reset my phone last night and redid everything(again),then sent an mms to myself and to my wife and it showed that it was sending but we never got the mms. I know that sometimes it takes a while but 20 hrs. seems a little to long. If anyone knows of anything i'm doing wrong please let me know. I've tryed every post i've seen up to this point and none have worked. Thanx in advance.
first off, I have just used the "connection setup" on the girlfriends Dash and hers works fine- not to say it will definitely work for everyone but worked for me...multiple times in the past and recently.
the one thing that doesn't work...ever...is the send/receive button. It always ends in "error synchronizing" -If that is what is failing it is normal. Just send a test pic, and then try to get someone to send you one. Make sure they are on Tmobile to get a speedy transaction- I have had MMS to other carriers take a few hours before.

Oh yah sometimes they do take a long time for real.
MMS-Error Syncing
I am using the vanilla V24 rom on my T-Mobile Dash and have manually setup all the settings that I could find regarding ToMo WEB, T-Mo Zone, T-Mo VNC, and T-Mo MMS. I have successfully sent and receiving SMS. But MMS does not work. I receive Error Syncing everytime and have waited for over 3 days to receive. I can not offer any solutions, But can offer an alternative. If you have the T-Mobile Total Internet Package, you can setup an email account, i.e. gmail and use that.
mms problem solved
The cure was easier than i thought. Went to t-mo web site and loaded 6.o. No more issues with picture messaging, web or anything else for that matter.
I've had lots of problems with long texts (5 messages long) failing to send. Occasionally they go out OK, but more often I get an error saying that they haven't been sent.
If I split them down into shorter messages (such as those 3 messages long) then they seem much more successful (although these might be very rarely going wrong too, I'm not sure).
Does anyone know what might be going wrong? (By the way, I'm with t-mobile, if that's relevant.)
Also, I've noticed that when a text gets really long (6 messages long) then it becomes an MMS Message, is there anyway to avoid that? Because I get free texts, but I have to pay for MMS Messages.
Cheers
Paul
Can't help you with regards to the mms not sending as I have the same problem with mine on o2.
But to stop texts converting to mms...had a look on the stock messaging system and can't find this option. I use Handcent and if you go into settings there's an "auto-convert to mms" uncheck that and it should be fine.
Same behaviour as OP on mine too. Been struggling with it since day 1 (t-mobile).

Had the same problem when I first got my phone. Here is what I did with my phone:
Go to settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names once you are here, click on the menu button and reset to default. That should sort your problem.

yep, same here. I though it was just me. (t-mobile uk)
Just tried sending some epic messages with Handcent and that seems to work! Cheers for the tip Who
Sucks that that interface is so ugly though, think I need to find an alternative...
Anyone have any idea why this would work and the normal one wouldn't?

honestly though this is a very annoying issue, probably the only issue i have with the phone
yesterday was the worst, the text actually refused to send, i tried resending it atleast 100 times.
i dont suppose there is an alternative message centre number?
tmobile uk here too
Heya guys,
I've found several source through google giving me "SMSC" numbers, and a couple of converter websites.
None of them work for me so far - so I was hoping a three UK user could help me out in here.
Can anyone on the three network please check their SMSC for me and post it in here if possible?
Mine's reporting to be "00", and I think this is the root cause of my SMS sending failures.
In order to view, please type:
*#*#4636#*#*
go into Phone Information
Scroll down to SMSC and hit "refresh" to get the number.
I've already sent an email to 3 support, and I'll be calling them next week if I can't resolve the issue.
Thanks

It has a linebreak in it. Not sure if that was supposed to be there, so I maintained it here. Apologies if it's not what you needed
EDIT: On that note: can I recommend @threeuksupport's Twitter account - they tend to be much prompter than email and much less outsourced than phoning them. Same goes for most companies, actually. It's great, even if you register a Twitter account just for harassing companies.
thanks very much for that number. It worked perfectly!
The line break is purely wrapping...
MMS still doesn't work, but that's a minor concern right now.. And thanks for the twitter comment, I might just go ahead and do that.
thanks for this seem when I rooted in lost this, the btw just type the whole number no spaces.....

I have been juggling about 10 different roms for my Samsung Galaxy S and suddenly found that I could not send text messages.
Panicing I found the solution to my woes on XDA. Thank you!
I understand this thread may be in the incorrect location, so mods or admins feel free to move it to the correct location.
So yesterday I changed over from AT&T to Straight Talk on the bring your own phone feature.
I used my Galaxy Note 2 (not a clone) Jelly Bean 4.1.2 software. I am able to place and receive phone calls as well as access the internet so far. My MMS is functioning to send pictures, however will not receive them. Also, my SMS does not function for sending or receiving text at all.
I followed the instructions on Straight Talk for setting the APN. When I did that I had no internet or sending of MMS. I found on google some other APN settings which made my internet and sending MMS work.
My current settings are as follows.
Name: straight talk
APN: tfdata
Proxy: not set
Port: 80
MMSC: h t t p : / / mms-tf . net (without spaces)
MMS Proxy: mms3 . tracfone . com (without spaces)
MMS Port: 80
It's only been 24 hours since I switched but I've spent basically that entire time trying different APN's I found online.
I also made a Facebook account and went to the support tab on their facebook. I chatted with a person from tech support, however they were unable to resolve my issue. It was the exact same thing as talking to a tech support member at their 800 number. It was a whole lot of...
"send yourself a text and see if you get it"
Didn't work
"okay turn your phone off and back on again"
okay
"try sending yourself a text and see if you get it"
nope didn't work still
"okay trying deleting your text messages, it's probably full"
okay
"restart the phone and try to send yourself a message"
didn't work again
"Okay make sure your APN settings are exactly as they are on our website"
yep they are
"Okay now try to reboot your phone again and send yourself a message"
Wait a minute...you had me LOOK at my APN settings and since they're okay, we are just going to reboot again? Really?
"Okay we are going to walk you through a factory reset of your phone. You will probably lose any pictures, video or music you had saved on the phone. Let me know when you are ready to go ahead with the process"
Ummmm...CLICK...I hung up...
Except the chat support operator hung up on me when I tried their facebook support. They simply disconnected leaving behind a message saying "to assist you further, we will need to speak to you directly, please call our 800 number blah blah blah". They basically had me do the same thing as the phone operator except they once even had me remove my sim card and put it back in then reboot.
So...I still have no SMS or MMS.
I don't feel like it's going to be an APN setting issue because I tried every APN I could find on google yesterday and today. They all seem to allow me to do the same things and they all seem to restrict SMS. I find this odd because most people with APN problems, the main complaint seems to just be not being able to send/receive MMS only.
I was unable to delete or edit the AT&T APN that was already in the phone. Unfortunately the APN Backup & Restore app will not work for me because my software is version 4.1.2 so I'm feeling trapped here. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Here's my apn guide. Hopefully it might help you...

Your apn I see you listed looks a lil different, than the ones I posted...
Couple of questions.
Are you rooted?
Is that stock firmware?
Have the device ever been rooted?
Did ya get it used?
Many many factors can come into play. When running into problems..

Well after my wife talked to ST with some attitude they have finally offered to send a new sim card to me, which is the first new thing they've tried not involving rebooting my phone. I don't have much faith in it providing a fix. If it does, I will update this thread to show my findings, however if it does not I will be returning to AT&T to get a gophone sim.

No my phone isn't rooted.
Yes it's stock
I don't know if it's ever been rooted. I am the second owner of this phone.
Yes I got the phone used.
I'll look at your link. I'm not afraid to keep trying other options right now. My new sim won't be here for another 3 to 5 days. That's way too long to be without sms. I downloaded Voxer and can send text and pictures through its features but not everyone in my contacts has Voxer or wants to get another app just because of me. This has sucked all the way around.
So my new SIM card arrived today. I installed it immediately and placed a call to Straight Talk via a different phone (wifes iPhone) to activate it. I am well finished activating my new SIM and am able to place calls as well as send MMS, yet still cannot receive them nor send/receive SMS yet. It's been a several hours now and nothing. This sucks. I didn't want to wipe my phone completely but I tried it. Back to factory settings and still nothing. In the process of downloading all my apps and putting all my pictures back on my phone now. Blah.
For anyone interested in hearing how this turned out, I sort of have an answer. My SMS and MMS both work now as well as internet.
After putting my new SIM card in and having Straight Talk re-provision my account, then hard resetting my phone, it ended up working after about 5 hours. I kept trying to send SMS off and on during that time and suddenly a message made it to my wifes phone and she was able to reply. So far everyone in my contacts can get messages and reply. It was Straight Talks problem all along.
UPDATE: So I crushed my Note 2 in a machine at work while using the flash light app on it. The sim card and memory card survived. I ordered a new Note 2 unlocked from Amazon. The only difference between the new phone and my old one aside from color, is that mine was not unlocked and this one is.
I put my same sim card from the old phone into the new one. Everything worked again except mms. After going back and forth with ST trying to get a new sim card again, they had me set my apn mms proxy to "mms3 . tracfone . com" without the spaces. After a restart, I was able to send pictures to my wife and get pictures from her. I sent pictures to various contacts all morning and suddenly have a new problem. Now my pictures say they failed and have an exclamation point next to them in my inbox, but my contacts were still getting pictures after that occurred. I did a restart again and now they don't get pictures and I still get the exclamation point. Also I get a pop up that says Error: Network Error Occurred. Any ideas?

I had the same issue after updating to kitkkat. Make sure the APN Type is blank. Mine had some presets in it after updating and I deleted them out and now it says APN Type not set, And it fixed it for me.

Well, I tried that. This time when I sent a picture, I got the swirling circle (loading) to the lower right of the picture I tried to send. It was loading for about 2 or 3 minutes and finally showed that it sent. Everyone was getting my pictures 3 times on their phones before my phone would say it failed. This time, my wife got my picture one time and it shows on my phone that it did send. Thanks for the help.
I think it took a while to send just now because I'm being throttled by Straight Talk.

just a quick update for you...the whole issue where everyone was getting my pictures 3 times...worked itself out. Your suggestion to delete the APN type is what got my pictures to send. Then after a few days it randomly quit sending the picture 3 times and then saying it failed.
Now my phone works great

I am currently running CM11 on my SG3 with AT&T, and while group messaging works it seems to hang up when I get too many messages at one time. It shows that someone has replied but then it does not display the message rather it show it is downloading but nothing ever comes through. I have attached a screenshot of the reply I get when it hangs up. Does anyone know if this is a phone/software issue or is it service issue with AT&T? Thanks in advanced for your reply.
