i purchased this phone through the ebay daily deals site and flashed aokp on top. i will be going to taiwan and hong kong for the rest of the month and want to make sure that my phone will work with data/voice. i plan to purchase a temporary sim on the short term.
do i have to flash a different radio to work with overseas bands? my model number is I9250.
Don't worry. Asia is not a crocodile. Your phone will be working in there. I'm near (1 hour by ferry) Hong Kong being in there very often. If you go to Hong Kong you'll see the world.
What can I say.... Enjoy man and by the while forget USA or Europe. Whatever...

A bit of anecdotal evidence to set your mind at rest.
I have a European GSM Galaxy Nexus I9250 (yakju) running the official firmware, and in the last 3 months I've taken my phone to the UK, France, US, Brazil, China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong & Australia and it has worked in all of those countries with no issues. But you do want to be very careful about when you switch data on and off if you're at all worried about the cost of roaming data charges, and hunt out wifi where you can.

Hello,
A friend is on holidays in Japan, and he suggests buying me a Galaxy Nexus.
Could you indicate to me if it will work in France, with the European network?
Thank you.
As long as your network is GSM then it should work fine.
For your information, the model sold in Japan is LTE/CDMA version, not GSM.
And all other Asian markets that use HSPA do not have their device just yet. I live in Asia yet had to order one from the UK. Perhaps it's easier and cheaper to buy from UK retailers?

That would explain why NTT Docomo's leaked poster advertisement of the Galaxy Nexus mentions 32GB capacity...

Whoa this market discrimination is just unfair!
Apparently a friend of mine was saying how Australia might get the first hybrid GSM/LTE Galaxy Nexus as well, which will be very interesting. And the launch may be as early as this Friday!

I doubt very much that there is going to be a hybrid HSPA+/LTE Galaxy Nexus. That seems like complete balderdash, to be perfectly honest.
Hello guys, I am currently located in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) and will be traveling next month to the US. I plan to order a Galaxy Nexus while I am there and take it back with me to the Dominican Republic. I would like to know if this phone will be able to be used outside the US without an issue (My provider uses the same GSM band as ATT USA)?
Oscar
Yes, it will work for you. You can use it on any GSM carrier in the world.

Thanks for the fast reply! It's a relief to know :victory:
Bring some of those Dominican women back to the states also :good:
Its (in all practicality) the exact same as all other i9250 unlocked GNexes.
A Galaxy Nexus in Venezuela.
Hi you all, I hope someone reads this or something. I'm new around here. Even though I don't think so, I hope not to be breaking any rule by posting in this particular thread.
I'm about to buy a Nexus and have it shipped to Venezuela, let's see how that goes.

Oscar, I travel every year to the DR and this year it would be for christmas.
This time I want to be able to use a SIM Card and have data over there.
I have looked for them on the web, but with no success, so I found this and I was wondering if you could provide me with the bands of the carriers operating in the country: Orange, Viva and Claro.
And some additional information about the quality in the service of each one of them.
You can PM me if you want to.
Well, hopefully you'll reply jajajajaja :fingers-crossed:
Bye everyone.
i purchased the galaxy nexus off of ebaydailydeals (I9250) and want to make sure both data(3g/4g) and voice work in both taiwan and hong kong.
do i need to flash an asian radio file to enable use overseas? i plan to purchase a daily prepaid sim card over there.
Please don't double post. It just clutters the forums.
LTE won't work but everything else should.
I'd like to buy this tablet in 32GB + LTE version but I saw that in Europe (and so in my country - Italy) this version will not be sold so I'm thinking to buy it via eBay in USA.
My friend bought the same version from the same seller and he told me that the tablet is perfect but has not italian language inside. But I don't understand how an official android stock rom has not a particular language. Do you know if it's true? And in that case, since I saw italian version and USA version have the same hw (snapdragon 800), is it possibile to flash the italian stock rom from sammobile? Could I have some problem in future with LTE? And is it region locked?
Sorry for too many questions but I'll spend about $600 so I want to be sure

There isn't and never will be "U.S. versions" of the P601/5. Eventually there will be carrier versions but they'll have MMS and the dialer disabled which is the way the U.S. carriers sell them. If you're considering a P601/5 from a U.S. seller on eBay it's been imported from another country. A lot of them are from Latin America. Any EU version of the P605 should have LTE bands that support Italy. You should make sure what LTE bands any P605 you're considering supports to ensure they are compatible with your specific carrier.
I asked the seller which product code has the tablet and I'm waiting for his answer. Meanwhile I saw sammobile firmware list and it seems there is another variant of this tablet SM-P605M that includes latin america countries. So it could be that model number. But if it's true, is it possible to flash a SM-P605 stock rom on a SM-P605M? Both should have the same hardware specs.

Unfortunately not, I think I heard that Digitec sends in other countries.
But you can have a look here toppreise.ch and check some companies.
But keep in mind, Switzerland is in Europe but not in the EU.
That means you need to pay tax and VAT. So it will be very expensive in the end.
If you live near the border it might be better to do a day trip or holiday weekend.
But then there is the problem with customs when you bring it back....
Does anyone know anywhere selling these models yet please?
Have had a look online and cannot seem to find anywhere
Thank you in advance

Hey,
I live in Hong Kong, And travel to China for business 3-4 days of the week. I have not seen any update about this phone.
In China and Hong Kong they currently only sell the SM-9300. Its dual sim / snapdragon 820 / 4 GB RAM / 64 GB internal.
Ive enquired at the Samsung store in both China and Hong Kong and they are clueless. One sales rep told me that Samsung has canceled the model. And the rest had no idea.
So it might of just been another teaser from Samsung. Will keep you guys updated if i see it pop up! Hopefully it does get released! But looks like it wont be for awhile. Maybe next year.
I may be wrong about this, but the 6GB variant may be released next year in the Chinese market according to some of the rumours in the Chinese forums.
