White MMS equals battery life drain? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just wondering will the stock white mms for the Epic consume a LOT of battery life, or just a bit?
Just a silyl question because I'm obsessed with battery life.

Just a bit. Of course that depends on screen brightness and how long you leave the screen on for.

My brightness is always at the lowest setting and usually about a minute or so for texts.

You won't notice the difference then. Maybe a single percent at the end of the day with a lot of texts.

White backgrounds more power drain...

Yes, white backgrounds would consume more power then their black counter parts... but it is also a matter of how high you set the screen's brightness for how much power the display will consume. I would suggest that you Play around with your settings and lower your brightness as low as possible so you can read it. You could also purchase an extended battery like myself... so you do not have to worry about those issues as much!

I got a 1800 meh battery. Not really extended but an hour or two more juice. And the white, really doesn't take up battery life. Maybe (for my phone) 1-4% thru the whole day, but not bad

Does battery calibration make a difference?!

As many of you know there's a battery calibration app to use after flashing roms to wipe battery stats and improve battery. Sometimes I use it sometimes I don't... Just wondering if it actually made a big difference but I can never tell. Just thought I'd ask

In my personal experience with the nexus one, htc desire and now the t989, it makes no difference that I can notice
No. It's snake oil.

The battery stats file is essentially a log of what is using your battery. It has no effect on the performance of your battery.

Display consumes the battery, at rest

the screen on my Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 battery consumes my entire night crew at rest, let me know if this is normal, attached some pictures of the team last night.
I do not use animated backgrounds and brightness I have it in less than 40%, you just turn off the notification light
That's really good battery life, and your screen isn't doing anything it shouldn't.

ah perfect, hise the question, because it is the first galaxy I have and did not know the operation and thought the screen had some more consumption, since it marked that while I slept without it.
Thank you both for commenting
It was probably the wifi keeping your phone awake, if you left that on.

BLN simple question, your thought?

Simple question: What are the effects of using BLN from the default settings in AOKP. Aside from the obvious battery drain, I'm wondering along the line of: Is this bad for the light, to turn on and off so many times. Or is it built to be able to handle such repeat use. Currently its set to 1 second on, and 8 seconds off. Would it hurt the back light more if i set it to 0.2 seconds on and 5 seconds off?
No ideas?

I've not read of any issues with the key lights. I've got my settings at 10secs on .5 off

That little light is not going to kill your battery. Heavy usage of watching porn might but guess it depends if it's good porn lol.

Its not the battery life I'm worried about. Its the lights themselves. Will the become damaged from such excessive use?

Is your question, can you leave this off? Or on?
You're taking about the setting in the Hidden Menu?
Someone else posted something about this, their name started with a"C" I believe.
Anyway, mine is turned off and has been since that other post. I don't really think it did much for my battery life.

So here's the thread it was originally brought up on. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2328478
I remember my issues with it. I'm outside a lot and the phone will autodim down to 67% making it unreadable in sunlight. When I used this setting, I worked great outside but the screen would do some weird things when I left it on all the time. But I think it was conflicting with the autobrightness. It probably does make your phone run hotter as the cpu and the display won't be using any temperature regulation. And the Display has always been an issue on stock.
Yea i readthat one allready i just need some to giv reassurance that its beeb thoroughly tested

What do you mean by thoroughly tested? I've had it disabled for months without any issues.

Tried searching nothing worked.

Quick question guys anyway to disable the low battery popup and sound completely. With my zerolemon battery my once my battery hits 15% the popup warning starts but the funny thing is this battery last so long that it takes me 10 to 20 hours depending on usage to get it to 1% so the popups drive me nuts. Please help.

I'm not running this ROM at the moment, so I could be wrong, but is it not in settings/display/battery notifications? I know that particular ROM is heavily debloated, so it might have been removed.
I've checked everywhere and I guess its been de bloated cause I can't see it anywhere.

battery notifications
Do you have the pop up notifications found in display settings unchecked? I'm running this as well thats the only setting I'm aware of relating to battery notifications. I havent had my battery drain down that low yet to see if it still beeps yet since its only been a couple days.

Haha good one. Just the basic greenify and the use of app quarantine to stop the stuff I don't use. This zerolemon 7000mah battery is just insane. With the stock battery I was charging it every 8 to 10 hours of use.
