2 times I have encountered an issue where when I restore a back up and reboot all I get is a black screen, I hear sound of the screen responding to touch but no response from the screen and booting into recovery from that does not work. I haft to pull the battery in order to get the device to respond again. Any ideas?

Are you doing a full wipe prior to restoring? Assuming you are, it could just be a corrupt backup.

I didnt do a full wipe , I wasn't aware you had to wipe prior to restoring my back up.

Don't know what odin is so sorry if that fact makes this a silly reply. Have you tried the stock images directly from Google? They are a full reset of the entire phone.

Flash stock images, make sure bootloader is locked. Take it to Verizon. When they ask what happen, play clueless customer and keep asking if you will loss your angry birds high scores.

People are saying this may be a pba problem.
Only PBA I know of is a bluetooth profile. What are you referring to?
I have the GSM Nexus so proceed with caution, but I'm wondering if they use the same types of files and folders. This is what I did to fix it when I accidentally wiped my IMEI:
cmstlist said:
Okay that was quick - solved it!
I believe the problem was that I'd restored the entire /data partition of my prior unit's backup including the /data/radio folder. Not a good idea! The solution was to copy the nv_data.bin and .md5 files from /factory and paste them to replace the incorrect ones in /data/radio. Now my IMEI is back!
Time to backup those files somewhere safe...

Don't try anything without backing up what you already have.
Just flash it to stock and play stupid. Then they will "factory data reset" it, because that fixes everything. Ha ha. No really, they'll give you a replacement.

if you can make a nandroid,
first off you need to download wugfresh's Gnex toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
second you need to install all the drivers if you haven't already.
then you need to choose your model type
after you will need to click on back to stock what it does is it resets everything, assuming your phone ant boot up choose not booting
once that is done you can choose the factory image which can be downloaded from Googles factory images or you can use the options provided
after that you follow all the steps provided in the tool kit. the tool kit is mostly automatic so it wont take allot of time.
once that is done you are back in stock and have lost everything but don't fret because you can root it again using the same tool kit.
quick point your phone still has an unlocked boot loader so don't worry about that.
once youve completed the above steps you should be back to your good old galaxy nexus home screen
Verizon won't warranty it because the sticker under the battery has turned colors. No water damage I just touched one day when I took out the battery my hands were slightly wet prob not smart lol. I know this wasn't the cause it has been 5 months the only thing damaged was the sticker and warranty. Yes I have the right ROMs installed I'm not a newb. This is like the same issue with the s3 I tried to use the qpst method but I can't even get the hidden menu to show on the phone clueless as to why. I just want to use my gnex as a beater phone when I'm out.

Sounds promising going to try. I took apart the phone to check internals all looks good, except for the fact I broke antenna pinched with case. Ordered a new one incase this works.

Alright. I got the note 2 two days ago, and I rooted it. If I use it for extebded periods of time, I cant unlock the screen and the led notification gies red. Help? Also, my note only goes 12 hours with full charge on moderate to high usage. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I've had a few random reboots and last night my phone tried to do it again and it froze up during that and the screen was black with the blue led on. Do you have any stock apps disabled? What Rom are you using? I'm stock deodexed.
I'm using the whomp Rom.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
The only thing in common with that Rom is multi window, camera sound disabled mod and I have flash enabled.

re download, wipe fully, and reflash. The only time I've had any experience like this is when I didn't wipe fully or had a bad download.

Depends on the usage and what you are doing with it.
Running a ton of apps, constantly playing with the screen and tweaking things, 12 hours is pretty good.
Phone just chilling, 12 hours is really bad.
I just posted pics in another thread running on the Perseus 29 Kernel, with normal use I was able to go over 2 days on battery
normal sounds like light usage lol

What they said on battery. If you have a custom recovery (twrp or cwm) wipe davlik, cache, do the factory data reset, and system for good measure, since your having issues, then reflash the rom.

Lock up recovery by not letting them get your phone
Sent from my CLEAN Note ll
Why would your friend do that? I would punch him in the face, then he wouldn't touch the phone again.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Imagine if you lost the recovery pass word and your phone is soft bricked or worse. Prob the reason why theres no pw for recovery.
Heres the solution:
Dont give phone to friend?
Time for new friends?

Good point. ..
Thieves can wipe the device from recovery and your hosed.
A button lockout would serve the same purpose, coupled with a screen password to prevent button unlock. ..
We can do that already with a market application i think. ...g

Is anyone have this problem after update to KK? Normally it took only about 6 hours to get full charge. Now it took 8 hours I get only 60%. Any idea?
People are generally reporting the opposite. I wonder if it might take a factory reset to fix it.

Yeah I think I'm going to factory reset when I update as it seems to be the best way to ensure a flawless uldate or atleast a niggly free update (minus the bugs that exist in 4.4 ofcourse whatever they may be).
