[Q] Street view apk - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I just recently got a gs3 and in the process of removing bloat from the stock jelly bean ROM deleted street view from /system/apps. I installed it back from the play store, and even though it says its installed there is no street view in the app drawer and the option is greyed out when using Google maps.
I've Odin'd back to stock and even done a factory reset (all jelly bean) and it is still not working even though the market says its installed. Any ideas on how to get it back?
*edit - The Street view apk is currently present in /system/apps

Try clearing maps app data in settings application manager? If you reinstalled the whole ROM though it should have replaced that. Did you clear cache/dalvik?
Are the permissions on street.apk rwrr?

Thanks, it was the cache that did it.
I re-installed the ROM, but did not clear the cache as I thought since I was using ODIN it wouldn't be an issue. Turns out it was.

I'm having a similar problem. After the 2.33 update, it FCs when I chose "My apps". I tried downgrading to several different versions, cleared data/cache, wiped cache/dalvik, but no joy. Now, after I press "accept" on initial start, it FCs. Any help?
Thanks.

Update: I used TiBu, wiped everything again, still no joy. I ended up deleting the Market app from Manage Apps. This left the /system/apps version of Market intact, but unavailable to launch. I rebooted the phone, the /system/apps Market became available in my apps list, and it worked. It then automatically updated to 2.33 again and now all is well.
I had similar problem with my htc evo with cm7 rom after flashing a google add on. As soon as you clicked maket it would try to open but then close right away,I tryed to wipe market data didnt work. Did as you sudgested and wiped catch and dalvik catch and reinstalled rom and the previous add on and no problems after that. Thanks
Question I already had a add on flashed after installing cm7 and tryed flashing another one over the other add on. Is that why I had problems with market?
The main reson I tryed flashing the second add on was After flashing the first one I did'nt have a voicemail app. The voice mails would come in a text with a link to hear the message.
Does anyone know a way to get my voice mail back? Thanks

Tried installing new black market...now I have No market

So i tried doing the one for droid via rom manager and when I got into my phone there was no market. Then I tried to download the new version via apk and it installed but when I open it, it crashes with an error. I uninstalled it trying to install the APK of the black market and it fails.
What'd i manage to do to my phone and how can I get market back?
Is there some file it would of screwed up I need to uninstall?
Obviously I need a market
this is where the black market thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173880
Update, nothing f'ing works
I had this same issue on my gtab. The new market wasn't working for me so i removed it. Then the old market was crashing. To fix it I just reset the cache and data and it worked fine afterwards.

Here's a fun thing I did that I dont know how to undo
I removed market update using titanium backup thinking maybe it was an issue. Would just reinstalling the rom fix it?
Go to apps and themes and look for transparent market and flash it

You need to delete com.vending in data/app and vending.apk in system/app. Then flash this zip http://www.multiupload.com/8CONVCPOMT its not sneads version but its a nice dark one I found more compatible w/ our phones.
cd's or tapes?

Google Play Store Force Closes

Hello everyone, i hope this is the right place to post this.
Here is my issue, its prob easily fixed but im just unsure of how to do it. I was messing around with some inverted apps. Google Play Store was one of them. It wouldnt work, and the store kept force closing.
If i reinstall the vending.apk file, it installs over what i have and works fine...untill i restart my phone. After restarting, first thing i get " Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped"
Can anyone shed some light on how i could fix this? It works perfectly fine until i restart my device.
Try clearing data and fixing permission

I just cleared data settings. Fixing permissions in CWM right now.
Will update when finished.
EDIT : Nothings different. First thing that happens after reboot is the force close error.
Bump. Can anyone help?
google store force close
I had the same problem! Are you doing the copy/paste method? Then I kept trying different things, then I figured out you can use file manager program to install it, and it seems to work fine. Try that maybe
I just reinstalled the apk and was all good

or- maybe not- just force closed on me again!
same thing happens to me, on JW4 and as soon as I download an app, force close. Tried everything, older versions, modified versions, clear cache, fix permissions. I can download install from other markets no problem. Everything else works .. I'd hate to do a factory reset. Ideas??
FIX! You must be rooted. Uninstall play store, then using a root explorer paste vending.apk in system/app, then reboot. You can also use the mod vending.apk, it'll work. I had moved apk using titanium backup into my system rom, then when I did the most recent update it all went to hell, force close every time I tried to download an app. By doing the above it installs it outside of the rom and it worked. Hope it helps!!!

You don't have to install another Rom. 1st to a search for a mod playstore multidpi .. manage apps and clear data on playstore .. then with root explorer go to system/app check name .. vending or phonesky .. rename your mod playstore to same paste in system and set permissions to rw-r--r-- .. move paste overwrite into system/app reboot

Well, it may not be the reason for issue. I also made it user app but there was no issue untill once i stopped when some app was getting downloaded.
I tried every thing like restoring from Titanium backup, cleanig cache, cleaning data for google play store and google play services but no luck. Finally it got resolved when i flashed gapps after deleting google account. Then after flashing gapps when i created new acount a d then install apk it worked.
Hope this will help.

Insufficient Storage Google Play Store

Running on my AT&T rooted Galaxy S3:
Andriod 4.0.4
Kernel Version 3.0.8
Build: Diet ICS v7.11.12
Several weeks, no issues.
This morning I went to install 2 updates and each update said "Insufficient Storage".
I can not download any updates or new apps without getting this error.
If I uninstall an app, I can not re-install it without getting the same error "Insufficient Storage".
I have cleared the cache and data under Google play store app info
I have gone into recovery mode, cleared cache and dalvik cache.
Nothing is working.
Any help would be much appreciated

Yeah, the same happens on my NS4G but I've found that leaving the Play Store app pulling down the notification bar while it's updating and leaving the screen on helps. It sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries but it usually works eventually.

Same thing happened to me. Get root explorer, go to /app/data then look for files with the name of the app and a little orange shield on it, delete it and your good to go

It has something to do with stored ODEX file (i am not sure what it means). One solution I found is to install lucky patcher app and just open it. It will delete the unused ODEX files and you wont see the issue again.
Click on thanks if this resolves your issue!

This worked for me. Thanks.
I never found the .ODEX file, but in /data/app with ES File Explorer I found the .apk of the program and just deleted that. I then went and updated the app and it let me download and install this time. Hope that helps anyone else having this issue!
I was having similar issues with tons of apps. Eventually I just moved half of the garbage to the SD and deleted a bunch of bloatware with Titanium Backup. After a nice solid battery pull everything updates fine now.

Google search fc'ing

My google search started fc'ing after I installed a new room. I've tried deleting search. Wiping and reinstalling. Restoring from a nandroid and it still won't work any suggestions?
Update it in Play Store. If you did the update there already (though by the sounds of it you haven't, go into the App Manager and clear cache and data. Then try again.
