I am just a twelve year old playing around with a kindle fire and Samsung galaxy player 3.6 and I was wondering if someone could post a Linux rom for a kindle fire running with the newest update and whether I have to root it or not to run Linux. Also as an add on can Linux run APk files.

Because there is no simple flash.
If you want to just play with it on your fire then go on play store and download one of the Linux installers and run it via terminal as an emulator.

If you want to mess with Linux that badly, why don't you just create a LiveUSB and boot your computer off of it?
Besides, if there were such a thing as a "Linux ROM" in the sense of what you are looking for, you would still need custom recovery to install it. And if your device isn't rooted, there's a very good chance it doesn't have custom recovery.
Why are you so interested in getting Linux on the KF?

I don't know about the gs1 but I do know that entropy512 has cm9 for the galaxy player. Look at his signature.

No don't do that you will kill your device. Search on google for xda developer Entropy512. In his signature he has a link to his custom ROM for the galaxy player. If you install a nexus ROM the device will permanently die...

Okay I seemed to have failed. I tried to make my game Mine craft pocket edition a root app and now it says it is not installed but is when I try to install it again from the market. Help please. And i checked the system apps folder and it doesnt appear.

just wanted to let you know that Auto rotate is glitchy, and ROM Controls button FC's everytime. The Aroma Installer experience was awsome lol

I posted my install issue on team passions forum.
Hopefully they'll fix the rom control issue soon. I keep getting random reboots with rc1.

Sorry if its posted anywhere but I couldn't find it. I can't get Sprint TV to load in my E4GT. I haven't used it in awhile but football season is here.
I DL from the market, open the apk to install. When I open the app, I get a screen telling me to update. Umm, wouldn't the market have the latest edition? Anyway I hit the upgrade button, then a blank screen and the a FC. Anyone else having that problem?
I am rooted, updated profile and PRL, then reboot and still same problem.

Ya for some reason the market app didnt work for me either. I saved this apk from an older ics leaked rom. I believe there is an older thread around here that has some sprinttv.apks but I can't find it.

Ive been looking and don't see anything. Wont work on AOSP or AOKP ROMs. The app runs but no subscriptions. I was having trouble with ROMs between FF18 and FH23. Seems to have been fixed on latest leak. Haven't tried any FI03's yet.

Hey guys, I'm on re-calk 0.2.0 and had the same upgrade message. I had a copy of an old apk for Sprint TV that I had to use to update the version when I was on GB Calk 2.9.1. I installed it this afternoon and it started right up for me with out the subscription information. Thought I would share in case it might work for you too.

My phone has been locking up on the homescreen. I can't scroll pages or open apps. It then comes back to working and says "shell granted su access" on the bottom of the screen . Are these two instances connected ? How do I fix it from freezing like this?
Mine does the exact same thing, have no idea what causes it but it does become a pita!

Okay so I had this same problem happen again and so I started searching all over and came across a thread in the i9300 section where another was having a similar problem. He concluded that after the phone had been up for 24 hours or so there was a big memory leak with kiesexe found in /system/bin. So he made a cwm zip that disabled kiesexe in that folder. I flashed it the other day and haven't had that problem yet and I've also gained about 100 mb more ram! I'm just heading to bed so I'll post it all tomorrow for anybody else having that stupid issue!

Fixed it on mine by installing supersu from market ..make sure to give it root access then remove superuser.. there is some bug in last version OS superuser.

after you root with what he posted then go to play store and download goomanager.after that open it and click menu button, then click install open recovery script, wait for it to finish then you can reboot to recovery.

I agree with slicingtaco, find the Exynosabuse.apk from Chainfire here on XDA and install it. You will be able to do this right from your SGN2. After rooting, get goomanager from the play store. open goomanager and in the menu choose 'Install OpenRecoveryScript'. That will download and install TWRP which will overwrite the stock recovery, which, after all of this you can install custom ROMS.
Right after rooting, you may have to get BusyBox Free from the playstore and install busybox.

I just came over from iPhone, but I always jailbroke my phones there. This is much easier to do. It sounds more daunting than it actually is, if you follow the site I provided you will be done in under five minutes with your macbook.
Rooted or not, this phone is incredible. Enjoy!

Yea I have that too but just flashed the bloat and deleted what I didnt want. But I deleted watch on by mistake. I guess il reflash it. I wanted the single apk :/

I have every tv, blu ray player, and even the xbox in my house programmed. And just for fun I also programmed the dish box at work just to watch people freak out when the tv starts controlling itself
