This sgs2 is a good phone, smooth, fast, and fun

i'll be loving it too if i had it with me
5 more days!!!! such an agony waiting for 5 more days for it to arrive...
We really, really need more posts like this that highlight the good vibes about this phone. I've been reading through this forum and most everyone is just posting about problems they are having.
Monday is when my phone will arrive. I can't wait to see how it compares to my Sensation 4G!
As I just posted in the "Would you buy it again" thread, YES! I have had none of the problems some people are complaining of. Naturally, if you are having an issue, you are more likely to post about it, whereas if everything is running smoothly, you're too busy enjoying your new phone to post about it.
So far this phone is excellent. I just picked mine up today from T-Mobile and I'm loving every minute of it. No lag, super fast (both data and OS), very decent camera, GPS locks surprisingly fast, gorgeous large screen (minus the resolution which I don't really notice) etc. I would definitely recommend this phone. I am coming from the Sensation and I do not have the wifi death grip issue and 4g signal seems excellent.

+100 so true Devitek! all the complaints are gonna make this community smaller which i fear
We really haven't had a chance to test this phone out in action. I guarantee you it won't fail.

couldn't be happier. I busted the screen on my SG1 about a month ago (crack down the screen but still operational) and have been waiting patiently for this. Can't wait for root so that i can get rid of all the bloatware.
This is my second day with this phone and I honestly love it! The last phone I really enjoyed was the MYTOUCH 4g. I had the nexus 1 (cool phone), Samsung vibrant (Boooo bad Samsung and carrier support plus lag), then the MYTOUCH 4G ( best single core phone ever hands down!) than I tried windows 7 and got the HTC HD7 (very nice experience, now with mango it should be great) , than got the sensation 4G ( very disappointing experience considering it was my first dual core phone, laggy, returned 3 phones. Thanks to the devs my experience with it was good before I sold it) and now the T-mobile Galaxy SII ( best phone I've owned so far). This phone is awesome. I took it to my job today and let my coworkers play with it ( people who have no knowledge of specs usually give you honest opinions) everyone says the screen is incredible, the phone is big, it's very fast, it's light and thin, it feels cheap ect... Bottom line is this phone is awesome. The screen resolution is not a deal breaker at all it's not even pixelated. I'm glad they got rid of the pentile.
Im ocd and ALWAYS find something i dislike about every phone. The only thing i dont like...cant change the ugly ass lockscreen image
This phone is sweet and im loving the 10+ Mbps data speeds i get now. I havent had a single issue yet and havent put it down since i got it.

I use a lot of difference phones in my day to day and this SGS2 is my main device...I honestly think it is fantastic device.
It is fast, it feels like a solid piece of machine in your hand, it looks fantastic and all that jazz =) I am a happy camper
I have 10.5 hours of very heavy usage and just hit 15%. I love my phone!

I love my SGSII!! I can't wait to obtain root. LCD Density should be fun to mess with on this huge screen.
I agree this phone is by far the best android I have used to date. I have no complaints at all except for the wireless tethering not working without paying but that will ne settled quickly once we have root. This phone kicks a**

Just moved to t mobile and have a one s. Awesome phone, with spotty reception., which is the reason for wanting to exchange. Can't exchange for sgs3 due to backorders and 14 day exchange. Can go to sgs2 but is it worth the little downgrade?
I love mine. The device is rock solid and the multitude of custom ROMS, GB and ICS, should give you enough variety to find what makes you happy.

How is reception, audio, camera, GPS, battery life
Don't do it because its going to take a while for us to get the new software (Jellybean). I'm going to give you a little advice that I learn the hard way. Only buy Google made phones like galaxy nexus. Never buy other parties like Samsung and HTC cause they never update phone and there's not a lot of development. For android only get Google specific manufacturer phone . I can't stress that enough

Thanks but I'm well aware of that. I'm looking for a well developed phone hat doesn't have spotty reception the way the one s does

Reception is a tough one as it depends on so many factors. I live just a few miles from the nearest TMO tower and my job is only 15 miles away so I always have great reception. I'm currently running the Whitehawkx AOKP ROM and have no issues with audio, camera, GPS or battery. Audio is crystal clear on calls and through apps such as Pandora, HBOGo, etc. The camera is what it is, 8mp is capable of quite a bit and if you get a solid HDR app such as HDR Camer+ by Almalence, you'll really get to see the hardware used to its potential.
I don't use maps much so I can't comment a whole lot on GPS other than to say the few times I have needed it, it has worked flawlessly. The battery is of course dependent upon far too many factors that all come from personal usage tendencies but I can say from my experience I get between 15 and 20 hours of battery a day on a full charge.
I'd suggest just checking the phone out in store if possible to get a better feel of what you'd be getting. Yeah, the OS updates are few and far between, and could very well be over at this point, but with all the custom ROM choices and the abilities of the Devs here, I wouldn't be shocked to see more custom choices as we go along.

There isn't a bright future for this phone. Most of the devs are moving away for greater phones. Our aokp dev doesn't have this phone anymore so it's not looking too good for aokp jellybean. I'd figure out a way for an s3 or wait for the nexus to come back (hopefully).
But if you must then this is a good phone with good Rom options at this point in time. Just don't be too hopeful about the future.

But presently its still chugging along. I'm starting to drift towards getting the gs2, interchangeable battery expandable storage, bigger screen, stable roms. Let's here some more opinions.
If your still in your 14 days why don't u return the one s and cancel the service. Go buy a cheap prepaid phone get on T-Mobile prepaid or another prepaid service. Then when the gs3 becomes available resign up for service thru T-Mobile.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Can't do that have my wife's and mother in law on my plan.
Each line is a separate two yr agreement if yours is in its 14 days u can cancel your line specifically. Your wife and mother in law will still have service. You just won't.

Don't get this phone. Get a Galaxy Nexus.
I'm not paying full price for the gnex.
If you're looking for a really good phone but don't want to spend $600.00 then the S2 is for you IMO! I've enjoyed my S2 since I first bought it. I don't know how big you are on rooting, ROMs, and the like, but even if you don't root this phone is great! The only thing that might turn you off is the larger than average screen (the Galaxy S3 is even bigger, but thinner), in that case I would go with a Blaze.

The s2 is a great device. Just because nexus got jellybean, people are acting like the s2 is complete crap. development is slow but at least we have something. Signal is great for me, battery lasts long and is interchangable ,SD, fast GPS lock, and lots of other things.

Not enough to drop big bucks when you can just upgrade when the s5 rolls around. The s3 is still a beast of a phone with plenty to offer, even more so now with multiwindow, so I would just stick with it. At least that is what I am going to do

I think it is worth upgrading, at least for me personally, since I had the s3 & my upgrade since Dec.1080HD 5" display, 13mp camera (for family pics), bigger stock battery, 4.2.2 out of the box & more. Besides, the google edition is around the corner so you can always grab that. Or the Note 3 when it comes out.
The point is, there's always something better. The important thing is for you to be happy with your choice.
There is a sticky for this discussion
Ok so I have Epic 4G Touch. I can upgrade to the S4 right now or should I wait for something better maybe S5. My S2 is still rocking and rolling many many many thanks to all the Developers here.

If your problem is only with large screen then go for it! Because when I bought my S3, my first thought in mind after unboxing was "seriously, why did I even buy this huge phone" (saw S3 first time). Now I don't regret having large screen and I love it now. I'm sure you will get used with it also and start loving the 5" 1920x1080p screen.

My co-worker has it, so I have had a chance to play with it already. It's not much bigger than the E4GT, but I want a phone where I can reach across with my thumb without having my palm activating stuffs on the edge of the screen.
The other reason is the E4GT just start working well enough after all these years, so I'll wait for more stable ROMs first

I'm waiting for the SG4 variant called the Active. Milspec, waterproof, etc. Other than that, I want a Note 2 (yeah, the pixel density isn't as high as the SG4 but whatever).
I don't understand people by saying can I buy this or wait

I would assume the manufacture warranty would cover it but I'm not sure. Also, it's just my personal preference. I miss HTC and there build quality. The S4 is nice, I would upgrade to it if I wanted another Samsung.

I don't think so. Standard warranties are one year. If it's out of that year, I don't think they'll cover it.

I have had samsung phones for years and was debating on getting the one. The phone was released 6 months ago and that kind of worries me becuase technology seems to move so fast. So my question to you guys is how do y all like it? I played with my uncles the other day and I loved the build quality and the front speakers. How good is sense?

I've been an HTC guy for years, I've tried a couple of Samsung's (Galaxy S(fascinate), Galaxy Nexus,S4) and I keep coming back to HTC.
Personally, I can't stand anything bigger than the Rezound/Galaxy Nexus. I returned the S4 because I couldn't find a comfortable way to hold it. The DNA wasn't much better (gave to my mother after a week)
The HTC one is a perfect fit size wise, I honestly don't know how anyone can use the note's as a phone... Just too big.
I may be sticking with the HTC one for a Long time, I love the build quality, design and the size (as compared to all the phones on the market now)

I came from the S3 and so far, it's a very nice phone. I really like how it feels in the hand when you are talking and I like how I can swype with one hand. As far as speed, it doesn't really feel faster than my S3, they feel about the same. Sense is fine, I use Nova as my primary launcher. Battery is good, better than the S3. But keep in mind, it's not unlocked right now and we don't know if any devs are working on it.
I have watched a couple of videos and they say the phone doesnt lag at all. Is this true? I had the s4 for a couple weeks. It had some lag here and there. How much screen time do you guys get
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I've had 0 issues with lag on this phone, the speed is pretty staggering.
i've had the phone for a week and have been very impressed with it. Battery gets me through a day. its very fast as well i haven't noticed any lag.
I haven't seen any of these high end phones lag. I'm thinking some people just like drama. Great phone. Use my rule though be happy and make your purchase based on what is on the phone assuming it will never be unlocked. I've been pretty happy using the logic. I'm unlocked myself, but also happy running rooted stock sometimes.
Long time HTC user up until recently had the sg3/sg4/
This phone is great, I highly suggest it.
The build quality i superior to Samsung, and IMO we have a much better chance of unlock root for this phone than on the s4.
I have a good feeling I'll be selling my s4 in the near future.

actually, all reviewers for the s4 say that TW lags on it. Haven't seen any on my Note 2, but I don't even have TW installed. Probably just needs better optimization.

Re read my post. I've used an s4 its pretty much just as good. People are biased from time to time. Also as my other post said lag is more perception at this point. These super phones do amazing things. Sometimes I think my keyboard "lags" on the one badly for instance. I also realize the other factors at play. Heck people here in this forum complain about sense 5 being laggy. My point is that lag is half perception.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app

I'm in the same boat. I currently have a note 2 and thinking of either the HTC one or moto x. I love the build quality of the One but love that the moto x is pretty much stock android. If this phone had an unlock/root method, it would be a no brainer. I just hope something comes soon for it and then I could load a Google experience ROM or something
