[Q] Which Memory card you reccomend? - HTC Wildfire S

I already have a sandisk 16 GB class 4 card with that annoying "SD card unexpectedly removed" issue.
I've heard that there is no such problem with Class 10 cards.
So i shortlisted these 3 cards (class 10). Can you tell me that will they work fine without this issue? And which one would you recommend?
This is my second card in 2 months :/ I just wanna be sure..
Please help me. :X
Cards are:
1. San Disk Ultra Class 10 - I had sandisk before and I'm afraid that it'll have the same problem again.
2. Transcend Memory Card MicroSDHC 16GB Class 10 - I've read reviews but is the performance better than sandisk?
3. Strontium Memory Card 16 GB Micro SD Class 10 - Seriously Never even heard of the company but it's the cheapest class 10, and i can save 200 bucks. Has anyone tried this one?
Thanks...

Im using strontium 16gb class 10 card... i think you only didnt heard about that brand... and yes it is quite cheaper than sandisk and transcend.. im getting write speed about 7 to 10 MB/s... sometimes even higher... normally you will get above 6 ( incase of large no. of files)...
Read speed about 18 to 20 MB/s .....
In addition I also bought that card from Flipkart... 90% positive reviews... so only i bought that card... and i didnt got any trouble with that.... Affordable and best card in this price range.... :good:

Actually my old Kingston 8 GB never gave such problem. So it can't be. Also many users in XDA are having same problems.

[Q] Anyone here use a Class 10 SD card for Android?

I'm looking to upgrade the crummy 1GB SD card in my wife's TP2 to something faster. I was wondering if buying a class 10 card was worth it or if I should just stick with a class 6 or lower. Does the SD slot in the TP2 even support a class 10 card? Would a class 10 card be noticeably faster than a class6?
Not for this project. IIRC Nate said class 4 seems to be the sweet spot, the higher the class the worse it would be running XDandroid, but even some class 4's work better than others. Walmart has 16G class 4 sandisks for around $20, not too bad if you ask me

C10 cards are supported, but some have had issues. I would not recommend a C10 card for Android use. I doubt the phone itself will be any faster...

Cool. Thanks. So get a class 4 then? Is it worth it to get a 16 over a 8GB? My wife doesn't put much on her phone really and she streams all of her music.
Yeah I've got a Patriot 16Gig Class10 SD card that I picked up on sale months ago. I have been running XDAndroid on it since then and haven't noticed any benefit over my old 4gig class 2 card.
Not sure if it's related to running andriod but at first I was having issues with the card corrupting and losing all data on it, having to format it to be usable again. Formatting a few times with the HP tool seems to be helping.
I had a similar issue with my last phone (HTC Hermes) which would only work with good quality (Sandisk) SD cars, and failed with cheap chinese flash memory. The issue was that the phone wasn't able to remount the card properly in winmo when coming out of sleep, and the filesystem would become corrupt pretty quickly with folders disappearing and files having wacky filenames. Sounded like it was more of a hardware issue than anything.

Yea I use a class 4 card. Some have reported oddness with class 6, so it seems like the type of card matters as well... Because others with C6 cards say they work just fine. I've even had some people say C10 cards are fine, but most seem to have issues with C10 cards. Don't get some cheap knockoff, get a name brand.
As for size, that's entirely up to you. You can have up to a 32gb card. 512mb minimum .

I have a Patriot 16GB C10 card here too, but I no longer use it. It was constantly getting corrupted, the kernel logs were filled with I/O error messages. I'm now on a Sandisk 32GB C4 card and no more problems.

Just don't get a C10 card... I think that's what people should take away from this.
Some have said C10 cards are fine, but most say they are not. A few have had issues with C6 cards, but most say those are OK. I've never heard of people complaining about C4 or below cards - hence the reason I recommend anything C4 or less.
c10 sd android
My company name is WinDroidz and all I do is mod android and windows devices... and I have always seen huge performance gains with c10 cards, c2 sucks major, its just the transfer speed the card can move data at and clearly more speed no matter how u look at it with an SD card. Is crucial... I always used patriot c10, or topram and pqi c6 cards for android SD on windows devices and have only seen a posative result.. this is based on my personal experience of Modding more Devices then I can remember.... not from what I read somewhere or was told by someone... SD card data transfer is the slowest method of data transfer of all other common used methods... there are graphs if u Google it that show sdhc c2 cards lined up against other transfer methods like USB, ide, sata etc..... to put in perspective how ridiculously slow SD cards really are, once u see that u will understand why your phones drags ass so much when trying to pull up gallery after cache has been wiped if you have a ton of pics etc.... so if u are having problems with a higher class SD its probly not the SD and is something else you are doing, or maybe the brand as I can only vouch for the ones I've used... (wouldn't care personally about brand as pretty much everything is same manufacturer with restamped brand and packaging.. Kingston is Japan... currently using a c4 Kingston 32gb in my desire HD (wish it was a c10 but kinda pricey for that size and brand) I recommend c10 8gb for $30 on Amazon if u are using some kind of android SD rom.. or any device if u want better transfer speeds and it is very noticeable... no matter what speed u get though it will never run like nand android.. like HD2. So lets just hope the nand development for other devices continues like clk or magldr did for hd2 cause the hd2 with clk and full rom manager support is amazing
16GB class 10
Using 16GB class 10 and have had no problems related to the card, with FRX07.
I personally cannot think of any logical reason why a class 10 card of good quality should ever be a problem.
I just installed and ran Angry Birds Rio. It is slow, but works. Kind of fun to play in slow-mo!
i use 8gb c6 and haven't had any problem so far.
My 16GB RiDATA Class 6 Micro SD has been great, no problems.

Maximum size sd card with g2

Bought a 32 gb micro class 10 today and its acting really weird. Still have my 16gb and it works perfect.
Running stock 2.2 still, is 16gb max or what? If yes and I upgrade to 2.3 legit upgrade will it work with a 32 gb?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
No, it's the class 10. Lot's of threads on this, try a class 6 card.
Class 10 is not so good on desire z. Try a class 4 or 6 card
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Ok so... I bought another one with a class 4.
Class 10 no name: everything works normal but transfer is super super super slow...
Class 4 kingston: weird when I open my computer and turn on the usb connection the H drive (sd card) keeps showing up and disappearing then showing up and disappearing over and over... wtf gives?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
ok so im throwing both the sd cards in the reader and formatting them. see if that fixes my problem.
if you still got the packaging and recipt you can still return the cards if they dont work
I'm running a 32GB Class 10 card with no problems. Maybe it's just your card. I had problems with the partitions on my original Wintec card and the company sent me a new one as a replacement.

I have 16GB Class 10 Joyflash (noname). Could you tell, why Class 10 "is not so good on desire z", becouse I dont understand this.
If card reader of desire is slow, on level of Class 6, if you put Class 10, doesnt change anything, but why "is not so good"?
I can safely say that my 32 GB class 6 has no issues. I've been reading on the subject and for some devices the class 10 is flaky... might just be a firware/software issue. Who knows.
But I'm ok with my class 6. Write: 9mb/s and read 24.3m/s
Ok so after everything last night I ended up keeping the kingston class 4 instead of the wintec class 10.
One thing that everyone should know if they are planning to upgrade soon and have forgotten this. The speed to write to a micro sd is slow then the speed to copy from a micro sd. This is my experience last night at least... I can copy a certain file to my desktop in 40 seconds but to put it on took 2-3 minutes.
Anyways, just be patient and go to a place you can get refunds so you dont get screwed with a bad card lol. With my experience the 32 gb class 10 wintec sucks, the write speed was insanely slow. So I stuck with a name brand instead, I really wanted a sandisk but they werent available.

Actually, my original Wintec card was screwing up and wouldn't keep the data partitions written. The replacement I got from Wintec is working the way it should, and it actually is acting like a class 10 card.

Class ratings refer only to write speed. And write speed is always going to be slower than read speed.

Thank You: I can confirm this.
I had to put a SD in my old DesireZ/Vision for one of my son (10 years... there's no religion....) to replace a old 4GB crashed one.
The phone is running SenseI ROM (fine ROM: a very good way to replace the stable CM7 and run ICS 4.0)
I bought on Amazon Samsung EVO uSD 16GB Class10... and it was not recognized... So I read it on the PC to see if is was good or not: it was OK!
Recovered the trouble upgrading the Galaxy S2 of the other son from a old 8GB class 4 (probably Kingston o Transcend) to the brand new 16GB EVO Class 10, and putting the old 8GBB in the Desire Z: quickly recognized and optimally mounted both cards over both the 2 phones!
But I was disappointed... more than speed performance I thought that Class 10 memory card were also better on quality, due to a more robust and stable architecture of the chips inside.... and
much more recommended for the "systemdisk-like" use on Android Smartphones!

good 32gb memory card?

what do you guys think of this brand? decent? new time sd card purchaser...

I agree with Pheno.menon but the price might be worth the shot. Just make sure you use Paypal. I have tried a few of these even named brand and had the file with Paypal to get my $ back. You also want to test the speed if you get get one. I had one marked as a class 6 but wasn't even a class 2. Made the phone freeze up.
I remember reading about a delay when unlocking the screen whenever an SD card was installed. Can't seem to find anything about it now though. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

I remember back in the day on the G1 when you had to run apps to sd and partition your card. I bought a supposed class 6 8gb card on eBay for cheap. It was definitely slower than my Sandisk class 2. I'm using a 32gb class 4 SanDisk I conned my buddy out of his Thunderbolt. Must say so far I like it. Try craigslist. I know I picked up a 16gb for cheap a while ago...

higher class number means higher write speeds, but that doesn't always mean better read speeds.
IMO higher class cards are better when your doing photography and video stuff
I read my card more often than write to it so a lower class card with better read speeds is better for me.

I got a sandisk 32GB class 4. It is plenty fast enough. I record pics/video to onboard phone storage anyways. I store vids, music, etc on the sd card and it reads very fast. I haven't move any apps to sd card because we have plenty onboard memory.

Sandisk vs Samsung class 10 micro sd

As the title says, I would like your opinion on my next purchase of expandable memory (micro sd).
I would like to know which one would be better for my Galaxy Note international version.
1) Samsung Essential Class 10 microSDHC 32GB
or
2) SanDisk Ultra Class 10 microSDHC Ultra 32GB
The price difference is negligible, so I would like to know which one would be the best buy for my G.Note.
If you think that there is a better option, which I have not mentioned, please let me know and preferably with a link to where I can buy it from .
Thank you all in advance for all your input.

try formatting it first and see if problem persist.. if it still does, check your warranty whether you could return it and get a new one for free,

The complaints youve seen are not of genuine Sandisk products. Ive been using Sandisk cards for over 10 years now and not once have I ever encountered a problem. In the extreme event that the card may fail I feel Sandisk service and warranty are second to none..
GT N7105 with XDA Premium......that is all......
I had a genuine 64gb SanDisk. It failed after 4 months. Their service was good, they replaced it, but I cannot trust it in my phone anymore.
Got a 64gb Samsung instead. It comes with a10 year warranty.

No there are many fake cheaper memory cards out there which tell you storage of 32gb but are actually 8gb or less and they tell brand is kingston or scandisk but its not

Ive have only ever used Sandisk from my first droid phone till now in every configuration and have never had one fail. I always buy them from the local Frys because its convenient.
i also have a sandisk 64 gb class 10 works very well although sometimes it transfer files slowly.
purchase any.. any brand card can die on note2. just try your luck and before purchasing do check your device goes into deep sleep and remove unwanted wakelocks. some unwanted wakelocks have killed (well it may be in just my case) 3 64 gb sandisk card but last one is working so far after i removed the wakeloks.
