I had my beloved GN2 charging on my night stand, and went to open the roll-up shade on the window near my bed, which is also right over the night stand. Mr. Murphy sensed an opportune moment and the end of the shade somehow escaped my grasp. The shade rolled up in the blink of an eye and lept from its mounts. If you are not familiar with these shades, there is a tube that has a small, rectangular metal bar sticking out of the end. Since Murphy was guiding events, that end plummeted down and landed directly on the up-facing screen of my Note. I stood for a minute, not believing what had just happened, knowing for certain that my phone now had a spider's web instead of a smooth glass screen...perhaps even a hole right through the glass.
I picked it up to inspect the damage, and winced as I noticed a wicked looking gouge and a chunk of screen missing. Knowing that fractures are hard to see straight on, I tilted the phone, and did not see the expected spider web. Further inspection revealed that my cheap $5 Fosmon Screen Shield had absorbed all of the blow, and a chunk of the plastic had even been ripped out. I peeled it back, expecting that there must be at least a few small cracks. Once it was off, I cleaned the screen to reveal shiny Gorilla Glass perfection. No damage! I know the debate rages on as to the need for screen protectors. In my mind, the jury is in and the verdict is unanimous....use them!

The Fosmon protectors I have been using are cheap and fit poorly, but in this instance, they did the job for which they were intended.

I got a pack of fosman protectors when I ordered one of their cases....this is really making me consider putting it on
Screen protectors are meant to prevent scratches... you avoided a scratch, but the greater danger here was glass shattering... which probably has very little to do with the screen protector and more to do with the gorilla glass itself. But yes, you did avoid a gouge/scratch, but I wouldn't say you avoided a shattered screen...
In my case, I use a case with a lip that'll raise my screen off any surface if i place the phone face down which is the only reason i'd get a screen protector.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. In my mind, the screen would have been shattered without the protector. The force of the impact was enough to dent the plastic badly and tore a 1 inch chunk right out of it.Yes, gorilla glass is tough stuff, but we are seeing lots of reports of relatively minor drops completely shattering it. This was not a minor impact, yet the phone is undamaged, while the protector was destroyed. Draw your own conclusions, and please show the courtesy of allowing me to draw my own.
I think he is saying that the screen protectors protect the screen from scratches and wouldnt protect the screen from shattering. I dunno tho, in my experience, if my phone hit something hard enough to break the glass the glass would break. And im an advocate for screen protectors...

Hello,
I have placed order for the Basalguardz Ultra-Clear Anti-Fingerprint screen protectors. What attracted me the most is the very low price
compared to all screen protectors in the market, while still shipping with 3 films and all necessary tools to install on your phone.
Here is the unboxing:

Here is the protector on the phone:
Now, let me jump into the good stuff and bad stuff about this protector:
Pro's
1- Extremely cheap compared to any protector in the market, considering the fact that you get 3 films in one pack for the price of 2 films
by other providers.
2- Brilliant customer services, I only had to contact their head office in US and they set me up with a direct shipping off Hong Kong (As
as living in Middle East and it's way cheaper and faster to ship via HK mail).
3- Above average packaging with proper instructions on the pack and a packing slip for extra assurance that you get the right protector
before opening the pack.
4- Goes all the way to the edges, which is good in the sense that you got your screen fully protected.
Con's
1- The way the screen protector is installed is very weird: Normally other competitors will place "Remove to install" striker on the top on
the screen to allow for a better alignment above the earpiece and front facing camera. However, BasalGuardz decided to place that at the
bottom! Not sure why would that be considered a good idea! I had to remove the protector couple of times in order to properly
align in and end result, alot of dust got in between and my end install isn't the cleanest.
Here is a picture to explain:
2- Goes all the way to the edges, which is bad in the sense that you might have dust on the edges (especially at the bottom) since the
screen is curved and that could cause dust to slip in and screw things up for you!
3- The texture on the screen is very clear yet it feels very sticky and it doesn't necessary keeps the fingerprints off the actual surface,
still catch some oil and fingerprints (not very visible but still not as marketed).
Overall rating: 3.5/5
Would I recommand this? to be hoenst, I don't think so! beacuse it's very hard to align the protector with the peel happeing from the
bottom unless you are really a professional, not to mention that it's very easy to have fingerprints all over it so techinically speaking
they are selling you a product that doesn't do what it's suppose to do!
Let me know what do you guys think. Anyone else used it, shout out your short review!
Regards,,,
Thanks for the review. I would love a fingerproof protector but hate the blurry matte ones. Don't want to waste a bunch of money finding a good one.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Go get the SGP Oleophobic .. brilliant stuff ( still doesn't cover the majority of the screen which may look dodgy sometimes )
I emailed BasalGuardz with my review and this is this their reply:
Thank you.
That placing the tabs at the top was something that we probably need to be doing. It does indeed make it easier with this phone.
As far as the anti-fingerprint. It will certainly greatly reduce the fingerprints without the need for a matte surface, which some people do not like. Personally, I love the matte protectors. Others want more clarity. I just do not like the "sticky" feel of clear protectors.
It will not, however, keep every fingerprint off. It your hands are incredibly sweaty or dirty, then it would certainly not help in that case.
Thank you,

Yeah Trident did the same thing w/ their screen protectors putting the tab on the bottom.. stupidest thing I've ever seen.
You are complaining that they put the tabs on the bottom, really? Just stick a piece of tape on the top and start from there. Tape is a necessity when installing cling protectors like these anyways.

Pd. $17.95 through Amazon
This is my first time applying wet application screen/body protector and I thought it was pretty painless.
However, the cloth provided by the company is a complete joke because small pieces of it will just fall apart as I wipe the screen.
The protector cut out and coverage is pretty good but the material of the protector is easily stretch during the application which will result in slight imperfection such as (pointing down*)
In my opinion, the feel of the screen protector is just atrocious. It feel like I'm gliding my finger through a wet balloon.
After a few weeks using it , I notice some small ridges appearing all over the screen which hinder the picture quality. If you want a replacement, it would cost $2.95 for the screen or $4.95 for the whole kit.
http://www.armorsuit.com/picture/replacement-form.pdf
Even thought the screen protector is trash, the body protector is actually pretty good. The rubbery material provided a better grip for my phone and it look totally invisible.
In short --
Materials feel rubbery and thick.
During the application don't use the cloth provided by the company.
Material is easily damage during the application so be careful.
Screen protector is garbage but the body protector is pretty good.
Replacement is not free ($2.95 screen / $4.95 whole body)

I was thinking of getting one. Now, forget it.
I actually don't have much of a problem with the Armor Suit. Standard wet installation which can be a pain if you're not patient and take care of the corners w/ a hair dryer or some other heating element to dry it quicker. My main complaint is that it's rough around the edges. When it's applied, the smoothness of the GS3 is pretty much ruined and it makes the phone annoying to hold instead of a joy like it is sans armor shield. The other good aspect is that it becomes a bit more tacky so it's easier to grip when taking it out of your pocket. The cut is really good, so alignment was pretty spot on. Not sure why the OP's was so off, but mine lined up perfectly all the way around.
I didn't install the screen protector...only the body suit, so I can't comment on it, but every wet install screen protector I've ever had has been garbage.
So in short, I clearly wouldn't write this armor shield off...you just have to know it's pluses and minuses going in so you can't make a good decision.
I'm wondering what you guys think is the ultimate screen protector for the Galaxy note 2! I have always used invisible shield but I felt like it would be to... well for lack of better wording "sticky" with the s-pen.
I ordered a Spigen Ultra Crystal and while it is not as smooth for the s-pen as the naked screen is, it is acceptable to me. However, the thing was not easy to get on straight (I am insanely OCD obout that) and I got it on, but i guess it is too low since the bottom wont seal all the way (the GN2 glass is curved?) I don't like that
- The screen protector must be very statically charged because it picks up little particles of stuff like crazy.
- It is also a fingerprint Magnet.
- It doesn't cover as much of the screen as i would like (not a huge deal and it might be intentional because of the curved glass)
So... what screen protectors do use guys like that work well with the s-pen? Preferably between $10 and $60
(also, please no posts about how screen protectors are useless and gorilla glass blah blah)
I'm waiting for invisible shield hd which feels like glass and doesn't distort the display. Running a cheap one for now until that is available.
Regurgitated From My Giant Note II
Phantomskinz and ghost armor are my favorite
Clear protector is just as good as ZAGG HD. They have Note 2 available now.
Think we are going to have a hard time finding a perfect one. I have the ghost armored installed. Way better then the zagg but it is a little soft. Leaving imprints if you push down with your Spen. Might be able work them out by warming the screen up but haven't tried.

Just installed. You want this.
There's two types of screen protectors -- flexible / rubberish like zagg or hard / plastic like this.
You do not want the flexible ones. Pen wont work well with those flexible screen protectors, you'll get orange peel distortion.
You want this. Clear and no distortion.

have always used and loved the ones from http://bodyguardz.com, great protection, feel great, they send you 2 sets and have lifetime replacement, all you pay for is shipping, plus they have these newer "carbon fiber" styled ones that I really like.
I installed my Spigen protector in the bathroom right after I got out of the shower. With a steamy bathroom, all the dust particles stay on the ground therefore dustless and perfect install.

The install went fine with my spigen and there isn a anything between the protector and the glass but after I installed it dust and stuff would attract to the screen protector. It stopped for some reason now and im pretty happy with it now unless I see something better on here
Thanks for all the replies so far, it seems like there are quite a few good ones to try haha.
Never used screen protectors before, but I have heard that this screen gets many scratches on it very quickly...so, with that in mind, I want a high quality protector...no matter the cost. Is the Zagg HD a hard protector (like recommended for the S-Pen) or is it soft just like all their other protectors? Also, how is the spiegen protector?
im using armorsuit militaryshield on the entire phone. it works great

Compatibility: Specifically designed for LG Google Nexus 5 (2013)
Invisible, superior quality, 3-layer PET film that will not distort the High Definition screen clarity/colors
Protects screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: 3x Screen Protector, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze Card
First, The screen protectors were in a nice stiff card board packaging. This protects it from bends during shipping. This is a nice change from the usual screen protectors I order off ebay thats in a simple envolope and sometimes comes bent.
The accessories are of good quality. The microfiber is better than the ones I usually get with screen protectors. It's grey, decent in size and has a good feel to it. It's tons better than the pink, blue or yellow cheapies that come with other screen protectors. (You know the microfiber sheets I'm talking about, we all got one of those before), It also comes with a squeegee and lint remover/hinge stickers. The lint remover/hinge stickers are meant for any dust you can see on the screen before applying or used as a hinge for applying the film.
Also for the first timers in applying a screen protector; it has step by step directions for best results. There are instructions for 2 methods. Hinge method (what the stickers are for) and regular method.
It has cutouts for the camera, ear piece speaker and light sensors. They are cut and aligned correctly. This being said it is a little difficult to get an absolute perfect alignment of all three since the "remove tab 1 here" is at the bottom of the protector. This means that you need to apply the bottom first on the phone and aligning the 3 at the top is a little difficult. There are 3 protectors so thats good if you mess up once or twice.
The film is definitely clear, no rainbow effects, no loss of touch sensitivity and not too sticky when swiping my finger across it. When removing the second film on the protector, it is quite sticky however. Just do a quick wipe with a liquid lcd/glass cleaner. It went away and now its has a good smooth but feel when doing finger gestures. You can barely tell there is a screen protector on the thing.
Overall I'm very happy with it. 3 Protectors with lifetime warranty. Techmatte, the maker of the protectors, also has good customer service. What not to like about that?
I'd give it an easy 9.5/10
Hello everyone,
I just got my S9 a few days back and i noticed a dotted pattern all over the display. Is this normal? Does it have to do with the screen technology? Also i see this ...rainbow effect under the screen protector, it moves if i press it. It is only visible under a bright neon light (the only one I have in the house) so it's not disturbing, but i'm just curious if it is indeed the screen protector's "fault". The dots are visible with the screen on if it is exposed to a strong light (sunlight, the same neon).
imgur.com/a/0lxNa
Is it a screen issue or is it normal?

I have the dot pattern too, not that much as you, but I can see it. I believe it is the touch layer of the screen.
I had it on old phone too. Were you able to see it without the screen protector?
Not sure about the rainbow effect it looks like some refraction issue under the protector. It could be the case.
If it was not an expensive one, I would buy a tempered glass and replace it.
The screen protector is tempered glass, from Eiger.
I've not seen anything like that on mine. Are you sure it's not on the back of the screen protector?
After doing a bit of research, I found out that tempered glass screen protectors have this "dot matrix" pattern. Those little dots are actually where the screen protector makes contact with the screen itself for better touch sensitivity. Indeed, I have the touch sensitivity option turned OFF and the screen responds with the lightest touch even though the protector is made of thick glass.
Can anyone confirm if this is true?

The rainbow effect is called Newton's Rings and is caused by the differing refractions of the interior sides of any 2 glass surfaces placed together. The rings move because of the flexibility of the screen protector and that changes the angles of refraction. Some glass made for photographic purposes has one side made slightly less smooth than normal glass so the opposing surfaces can't reflect off of each other and create competing refractions which cause the rainbow pattern.
You can find out more about this, if you are interested, as Wikipedia has a decent article on the topic.
Don't know if any glass screen protectors are made to minimize this.
Edit: corrected auto correct error.
I am a one plus 5t user [I know I know I am at other universe, still like to give my 2 cents ], faces same issue after instilling a screen protector [glass one] from local shop.
First I was worried that the protector was applied to harsh that it may be pressing the screen & resulting in the rainbow effect. It was also having dotted pattern. Screen protector was a cheap one so just for my piece of mind I went ahead & removed it & there you have it, the culprit was the protector. Now installed another glass protector which does not have any dots or rainbow effect.
