In main directory (SD card or device) create folder called Media then subfolder Audio then subfolders alarms-notifications-ringtones. then add your desired tones to folders and go to settings - tones and assign tones (ringtone, sms etc) for email you must open app and do it from settings.

There is no option in settings to assign a custom text tone for a single contact, only ringtones, thats why I created this thread to see if there was a workaround.
Thanks anyway.

Yup, one of the downsides, imo, of the stock messaging. You may not like Handcent, but there are others. Handcent has been my go-to replacement, as the others just didn't feel right. It does have emoji support, too, which is great when you have friends on ios; it's a free plugin on the market.

Actually, check your contacts. There is a custom ringtone, and right under that is a notification option to choose your custom sound.

I'm running the most recent version, and no problems here. You won't break anything by trying it out, or others.

Better-than-stock Dialer?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a dialer apo to replace the stock dialer, since the Samsung stock one doesn't even have a proper T9 dialing option.
I have tried ExDialer, and it's really good but it doesn't show Facebook profile pics in the dialer.
Does anyone know of any better dialer apps that are fast and functional?
Thanks.

Few things that come to mind:
- Dialer One
- RocketDial
- Go Contacts
- Touchpal Contacts
Let us know how you get on.
Dev Team
im currently using dev team stuff such as:
go sms
go contacts
go keyboard
go dialer
im pretty much using the same thing as you but if you install AOKP rom, it should fix your problem with the face book contacts thing as its part of the features for the rom
let me know how you go
Ex Dialer is awesome now
Dialer ONE it's my favorite
Dialer one for sure.....

Thanks guys for the replies, but I tried each one of them and NONE can pull FB pics into the dialer!
They're there in the contacts and even in the stock dialer but they simply don't show up in any of these custom apps! Other pics like google pics etc show up though....
Does it work for you? Am I doing something wrong here?
Am using hax sync. It works fine and fb pics show up on exdialer.

How does hax sync integrate with the stock contacts? Is there another tab for it like Facebook and whatsapp or does it just sync the photos within the fb account?

Its just like another fb or whatsapp account. It also syncs high res images which is nice and in the options you can choose to have htc style notes on your google account contacts so that when you do a full wipe and re sync it remembers the linked contacts.

ex dialer
I have used almost all the available dialers and to date found the Ex dialer to be the most user friedly one with good themes as well. Its a matter of personal preference too. For someone like me the main thing is not to have to stretch my thumb to the top of the screen to press buttons specially in S3 which is bigger. All the relevent common buttons are in the lower field. Even the search button of the contacts in ex. Go dialer is also very good but for me cannot beat the Ex dialer.
If helpful ...press thanks

Thanks for the explanation. Since it's a paid app, I just wanted to confirm.
So this app syncs phone numbers and other details too? After installing this can I completely disable the normal Facebook sync app?

I don't think it syncs contact numbers. Only pictures. For me, thats what was important as I have telephone numbers on my Google contact list for most of my fb contacts. And it syncs status updates as well. So if you click on a contacts update in hax sync it takes you directly to the contacts page on the facebook app in your phone. I have disabled contact sync on my fb phone app.

Enabling Nav-Bar via .buildprop?

On my old T-Mobile Vibrant before it was an option in CM we were able to enable the nav bar by editing the .buildprop. Can you do this on the T-Mobile S3 running CM10?

I'm sorry if my reply wasn't up to your exemplary standards, but I fail to see how was this^ or "Got me there lol did you try Google?" are any better. What I posted was actually a viable option that the Op may not have been familiar with. It allows for an easy addition of the NavBar, customization of the icons, resizing of the bar, and it's based off of the AOSP just as CM is.
Not everybody that posts an alternative is screaming (if you want to do that, you're dumb of not using this). Some are really just informing.

Telling someone to run a completely different ROM is not a solution to "enable nav bar via build.prop" however making a suggestion in an alternative ROM is different then commanding someone to do something. My first post was very helpful thank you very much. As was my second. The op and I were throwing ideas back and forth, I asked if he tried Google because that's what my next option would have been. Not to mention Google is solving his issue, not commanding someone to change their ROM. At least my posts were on topic.
Now to remain on topic, I think the sizing is determined by framework files and values.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I believe size cannot be changed via build.prop. You have to change the dpi but that makes everything bigger or smaller.
Yes you have to decompile and recompile the framework-res.apk to resize the navigation bar or to add power button to it.
Thanks for the replies

Hello. This method works great and actually adds the Nav Bar menu to your phone settings, which lets you modify the position and functions of the Nav Bar (including adding a menu button). Just flash the appropriate zip in the below thread and you should be good to go. There is also a zip for removing the Nav Bar as well.

Tried out PAC-Rom using PA full gapps. With a light browsing it appears to have the google dialer. When I am around a nexus 5 tomorrow I will compare it and see if it is actually the same thing. Late and my memory is failing me atm.
I wish there was a way to do this on the Tochwiz ROM. Search inside the dialer and caller ID.... nice.

Is there a way to have more options for sharing when I go to share..
