I have tryed several roms on Galaxy S3 and every non touch wiz rom will send pics sideways. Any help would be appreciated.
I've asked this question before and the only solution is to take pictures in landscape.
Interesting.. You guys tried clearing the data from camera. Apk? Or mms. Apk? It could be the issue

I have found that if you use GOSMS on AOSP you can rotate the image before you send it when adding from GOSMS.
I am on Blazers Latest rom (2.0 LJ7) and the stock messenger app does not rotate images.
Food for thought

How do you do it? When I click "view" and rotate it with GoSMS, it still sends the pic sideways.

I change themes quite often, but only one theme that I've come across for the Samsung Epic that uses AOSP messaging as opposed the the default "Samsung messaging" (I guess you could call it), is Engraved Blues. I've used that theme for the longest, mostly because it has AOSP messaging. It comes with WAY more user functionality than the limited "Samsung Messaging." Is there anyone that could put AOSP Messaging into a flashable zip? That way, I can use whatever theme I chose, and still have AOSP Messaging. I would really appreciate it if this could be done!
I'd even be willing to learn how to do it. I usually don't request, and tinker with things on my own, but I'd need some help with this one. If someone wants to walk me through the process, I'd be even more appreciative, because I wouldn't have to ask for these kinds of things!
I don't know what you mean by AOSP messaging but Impaler's transparent MMS are flashable zips. They both look and run very well. Give one of them a try. Just download and flash in CWM.

AOSP messaging is I guess stock Android messaging. At least that's what someone told me a while back. There are noticeable differences. Probably one of the most important is the fact that with default Sammy messaging, when messages come in while I'm roaming, they are 4 hours in advance. For some reason, this isn't the case with AOSP messaging. It's really weird. There are also options for vibration types, and you're also able to change the font size of the messages. None of these options are present in Sammy messaging, AND, there are no chat balloons; just color backgrounds.
The MOST important reason I prefer AOSP is because for whatever reason, I cannot pinpoint, whenever I run a ROM with Samsung's messaging app, the phone tends to randomly restart. Ever since I've been using Engraved Blues with AOSP messaging, the random restarts are nonexistent. No reboots whatsoever! My phone has been super stable with SRF 1.1.1 and Engraved Blues. I don't know why it causes those reboots, and I don't have my messaging set to keep a lot of messages. Maybe 50 at the most.
Impaler's transparent messaging is based off of Samsung's Android messaging app and while it looks awesomely sweet, I've had the same unfortunate reboots as it seems to be based off of Sammy messaging.
EDIT: Ok, just noticed this in his thread.
These apps are the 2.2 MMS app, only about 50 times better than Samsung could have ever made it...

Maybe I should give it a try again? I know when he first started posting the transparent messaging app series, I could've sworn it was simply themed Samsung messaging?

I haven't really had any problems with what you mentioned. I would say give it a try. I think you will be pretty happy. His messaging app is always the first mod I flash after flashing a new ROM or theme. If it doesn't work for you, sorry.
I have that same problem with Swype where when I'm roaming all my messages read 4 hours ahead of time. Gets really bothersome. I can't live without swype anymore though.
Alright, here you go guys. Download the attached and flash it through clockwork and you'll be good to go.

Silly question but do the swype functions work with this? I'm guessing not.

Funny thing is that before I installed the Engraved Blues theme, I thought that the Samsung messaging app was standard Android. If I hadn't come across the theme, I wouldn't have known a thing about AOSP messaging. And what's with that roaming problem? Man, that's so annoying! How'd Samsung let that one out of the gate with that glaring problem???

Would it be safe to remove the old apk from system after flashing this? I may or may not be wrong but I seem to remember that caused problems when receiving pictures and the like.
Of course that could've just been on the moment..

The old apk shouldn't be in the system after you flash it.. If it is yes you can delete it.

From what I was told/read it is a Sprint problem with how their devices communicate with the towers used for roaming. So blame Sprint for the problem

AH, zip must only be edify.
All you have to do is go into that zip, take out the mms.apk, and push it to system/app using root explorer.. I've got a video showing how to do that

It's upside down. It's annoying. I don't know much more than that.
All non TW roms will do this. You need to edit the picture to get it to work. Click edit, crop, and then scroll right and there will be a rotate icon. Rotate the picture 360 degrees, then save it. Go to mms and choose the new edited picture and it will send properly.
(I'm not on a AOSP rom, so I don't know if my instructions are 100% accurate, but its basically like that)
sgs3att, task650's aokp jb build rom& ktoonsez 747 kernel
That's not true...I'm on aokp and I literally just sent my fiance a MMS and it was perfect! And I'm not on a touch wiz version either! Switch to aokp people its way better and way fewer bugs:

I have the 4.2 camera installed and successfully captured a photosphere photo. Now, how do I view it on the device? I can open the photo in Gallery but it's all crammed on the screen. I'm supposed to be able to pan around like in Google Street View, right?
Is there a specific version of Gallery that I need?
Have you tried using QuickPic? I don't know if it will work as i don't have the new camera, but it might
You need to view it in the gallery that came with the 4.2 camera. When you use that gallery, there are extra "buttons" to push that allow you to interact with it. I normally use quickpic as well, but it doesn't give those options.
When viewing the photo in your 4.2 gallery, there should be a button on the bottom of the photo you press which enables to the photo to look as though on google street view.
I see that button but it doesn't do anything. It lights up to let me know I tapped it, but then the gallery crashes. Should I re-flash the 4.2 camera? Or can someone point me to a download link for just the gallery?
I appreciate the help - you guys are great!
Side note: if I upload the photos to Google+ I can view them from a PC. Looks pretty sweet.
But I want to show them to my parents next week and they don't have internet so I really need to get these working on my phone.
the gallery and camera are included in the same package. i don't believe you can just flash separately. i would just re-flash again, and fix permissions. then it's the 2nd gallery in your app list that you need to use.
wasnt aware that you could do that with google+. maybe i actually have a reason to use it now. thanks.

If you're really wanting to get the photosphere to work, you may want to try a full wipe and then flash the 4.2 GAPPS
Galaxy S3 AOKP 4.1.2 JB 11/12/12 Build
Task650 Underwear kernel. (Conservative/Noop)
I was able to resolve this by downloading the camera from a different source. No need to do a full wipe or install any of the other gapps.

HEY THIS ROM IS AMAZING.. i HAVE FEW ISSUE.
1 i have re flashed to stock.. and on my S3 I747M from Bell.. ok I flashed TWRP and Flashed Dandroid from scratch... 1. when your in MMS or messaging app and click attach Video under Capture Video for MMS when you click it it fails to open the camera it says Message Size Limit Reached only way to record videos and send em is using the camera itself now it was working on your earlier Builds.
2. Is there anyway to remove the Toggles at the Top without having stupid Gapp if u click hide and turn off all toggle it leaves a line...
3. Is there anyway to get the Camera from earlier Build the themed One.
I'm in the same boat as you.
I use go sms pro for now,but i'm really curious to see the solution....
I also tried to push a know working secmms.apk and/or sms.apk and no go.

Hi guys, I've been searching for a couple days and have tried various sms apps as well as mms.apk's from various Roms. I was on Vanilla Rootbox for the longest time and the Popup for the stock MMS appp was great because if you were typing a reply to someone in the popup window, and another text came it, you wouldn't lose the text you were typing. In Carbon Rom(v.1.8, JB 4.2.2), it doesn't work that way, and it's frustrating to lose the typing input.
I've tried the MMS.APK from cm10.2, rootbox and ParanoidAndroid but none seem to fix the issue.
Anybody know if it's a MMS issue or the way the Rom responds? Any ideas on fixes other than non-stock sms apps(which are all slow and cumbersome)
Thanks.

OK, I'll do a clean flash and try it again. It sounds ridiculous but it's one of the make/break aspects of a messaging app to me. Thanks for your help so far.

Yeah I remember it used to be like that for me too and I either lost the functionality or never stumbled upon it again. Makes me curious now.
