So I'm not sure if the recent Jelly Bean update had anything to do with this but I can't seem to delete this particular message thread in my inbox !!! Anyone else experience this ???
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
How many texts are in it?
There are none in it. It's just my contacts name, then when you click on it to open, it opens a blank text message asking you to enter the recipient. Then when I try deleting it, my phone lags a bit and then I get an error message stating "unfortunately messaging has stopped". It is so frustrating!!!
Then the message thread appears in my inbox again

dmarco,
I have not seen this issue myself as described, but it's near impossible to really help beyond that without any idea as to what ROM is running (if not stock).
Are you able to backtrace any steps to a point where it didn't do this?
I'm on stock actually and unrooted still, I have no freaking clue what gives here. The worse part is that it's a female classmate of mine whose thread I can't delete and I'm a little uneasy that my wife might see that, think there is something going on between us (which there isn't) and shoot me while I'm sleeping!!! LoL

dmarco,
It sounds like some obscure corruption, or an update if one did occur on your phone didn't go as smoothly as it should have.
I wish I could offer more of an answer, but if a resolution is needed quickly before your significant other becomes a significant suspect in a murder case, you could try a factory reset after backing up what you can of pictures etc.

Thanks for your help, I truly do appreciate it. Perhaps I could clear data or force stop the messaging app and see if that helps. Will that cause any serious issues to arise later though. Because it warns not to do so, so I'm just wondering... would you suggest that?
P.S. I honestly don't think she would kill me, I'm more than convinced that she would shoot to wound only. lol...seriously

Try going through app settings and clearing data and cache for messaging. Other than that factory reset might be your only other option

Yeah, I'm hoping I don't have to go the factory reset route. Will give the app setting a try. Thanks bro

No problem, I know the kinda hell I would catch if my wife saw my texts to my girlfriend
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
The only way I've remedied something similar is to clear data and wipe cache/dalvik but without a custom recovery Iono how. Last ditch effort is if you have root you can delete the database file with ALL your texts in it. I had to do this. Because I had 20k texts and it froze whenever I tried to delete.

Swype keeps replacing non real words that I delete. For example, I will swype the word "not" but it comes out as "nour" so I delete the "nour" only to find that it magically comes back the next day.
This happens on tons of other non real words like "judt" for the real word "just" or "i3f" for "if" but even though I delete the "judt" or "i3f" words both come back the next day. This is becoming frustrating. Can anyone tell me how to permanently solve this problem?
Try going to settings>aplications>manage applications>all aplications>swype>click wipe data

I have tried this before but the problem continues. I will try again and report back.
EDIT>>> This fix seems to be working for now. I will update once again a few days later.
Thanks!
"How good is..." Trying to understand what I can expect from a lag improvement. Any major warnings on apps NOT to freeze (other than home/launcher)?
Really hoping this phone gets some Cyanogen love and/or a debloat of the stock ROM with some feature adds.

I froze music lilac and music widget but started having problems with bluetooth ad2p. Probably would be a good idea to start a new freeze list.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda premium
Agree on the new list. There are a bunch of posts out there right now.
You definitely see a good improvement from rooting and factory reset?
Is factory reset really needed?

Why start another when one exists already???

@theoski: Please search next time
I just did hard reset and reinstalled apps using titanium backup. It is a little bit faster but nothing revolutionary. The soft is definitely not optimized for this hardware. Reminds me of early days of Atrix 4G. As everyone thinks the dev support will be fairly limited, although there wont be any obsticles like with Atrix when the bootloader was locked for months. With Go Launcher setup took me 20 min to do it.

There are a lot of posts in there and I'm not sure which are valid and which are not. I'll post in that thread and ask the OP to update.

why would any of it be invalid?
I don't mean invalid per se, just that it's not clear which of the items might cause boot issues. It would be nice to have a list of which are bloat apps that can be uninstalled normally, which are bloat that must be uninstalled using Titanium Backup, which are more process oriented items that can still be uninstalled, and which are things someone definitely should not freeze or uninstall.
Really more of a corralling of what's already out there in an updated OP.

Why? Happens randomly... and frequently... one is usually followed by several in short succession, and then it will stop and go away until the next out burst of gapps force closing comes along...?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
May be u need to flash gapps again?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Its the gapps that came with the phone though...? Why would I have to re flash gapps on a stock ROM..?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Same issue here with mine, not rooted, all stock, gapps keeps crashing constantly when trying to use web browser or certain other features included with the phone. Annoying.
Not interested in rooting or flashing anything until development gets a bit more stable.
I had this problem on my og galaxy nexus, clearing data from the phone/contacts apk fixed it. Not sure if it applies here but it's worked for me in the past.

In my experience it is a problem with sync internet. Clear all the data from whatever browser you use and it should stop
Didn't work... still gapps force closing grr this is annoying

It does it to me too all the time and seems random. Didn't think much of it because it happened on the touch pad running cm9. I assumed it was just an android thing. So this isn't normal?

settings -> apps -> all apps.
go to each gapp in the list and force stop, clear data & clear cache. reboot.
if that doesn't help, flash a custom recovery, clear cache and dalvik. fix permissions. reboot.
just suggestions.
Back up everything to Google and try a hard reset maybe?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Yea, I have a custom Recovery so I guess I will try to wipe cache and davlick and fix permissions see if that works other wise, I guess a hard reset is what imma have to do, even thought I don't want to ...that **** piss me off

Clearing the Chrome data worked for my phone...thanks.
A little late to the party on this but the only fix I found that worked was to deselect syncing of Google interne data (unmodded ATT GS3).
gapps forceclose issue
Same situation. SGH999 Galaxy S3. Why is this an issue?
I also do not want to deal with factory reset, wiping apps, etc.
Basically, taking phone off sync... NO F/C at all. Slide tab to SYNC,
F/C EVERY SECOND. I took screen shots, thinking this is so unreal.
There must be an inherent issue with Samsung & Google not playing nicely together this time.
This is my 2nd phone BEHAVING the SAME. TMobile not helpful. In Another thread, they contacted the
President of Samsung for overheating & excessive battery drain. He was sent a new phone, but will end
up with the same problems. I really thought this phone was going to be the shizne...

This seems to be Talk crashing. I get the same FC message. I have to login manually to get Talk online again. Anyone else notice that?

Yes several but don't know how to figure out which one update me goomanager
Doesn't matter if you're rooted - Apps can have permissions to send text messages.
I'd recommend looking for and deleting any malicious apps. Next time you download an app, look at the reviews and see if it's by a trusted publisher.

I reinstalled this rom and it sent out txt messages via my stock messaging program.
It sent 12 txt messages
I would completely wipe phone, start from scratch. Do not restore any data. It's 100% not a rom issue or more people would be reporting it.

Alright on my xperia S right after update the messaging app became so painfully bad. It saves drafts of messages that i already sent so everytime i come back to a conversation i end up deleting my last message first. And sometimes it just says "sending message" and just stays there. The only way to unfreeze it is to go into apps and force stop or restart the phone, both options are extremely annoying. I dont really want to deal with a non stock messaging app so if somebody knows how to fix this problem please let me know
Btw im really sorry if im posting this in a wrong place, feel free to move it anywhere it belongs
