Sorry for the double post, but are you wiping correctly? And what ROM are you trying to flash? Some roms recquire you to be partitioned

[Q] Cannot boot to CWM

okay here is my issue. Long story short, the camera button no longer works on my Epic so i can't do a three finger reboot to recovery. i've tried just about everything i can to root the phone while on Froyo and while i can root it, i can't go any further as ROM Manager will not install under that platform. So i tried ODIN to GB but as we all know there is no way to root from there without being able to three finger to CWM. So after 3 days of searching and finding dead links etc i'm as a dead end myself as to what to try and was hoping someone can help me out.
thanks

You can download terminal emulator from Play Store
Then type
su(enter, allow it on superuser)
reboot recovery (enter)
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Or use adb reboot recovery
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
this only seems to reboot me to the stock recovery though
There is a file you can delete so the recovery will stick....I will see if I can find the link and pull it up

Nevermind, you can just install a custom kernel like cleankernel and then flash cwm through odin and it will stick
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
what would be the steps for that?
Go to download mode (power + 1) until comes android with yellow triangle say downloading
Connect to computer and open Odin
Download this CWM 5
And put in PDA section in Odin, uncheck reset time and check auto reboot
Click odin!
If you're not rooted,
Adb reboot recovery
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
ok this is what i did...
i odin back to SPH-D700-DG27-8Gb-REL.tar and victory_8G_100528.pit. Used one-click root to root the phone.Went back into download mode and loaded the CMW 5 file as stated. Rebooted and so far all good. I loaded terminal and ran SU then REBOOT RECOVERY, but i'm still going into factory recovery. Any other ideas?
http://db.tt/X1h34nQ4 flash that in odin then when it reboots flash cwm and it will stick.... all credit goes to toadlife, i just took his zimage from his cwm flashable and put it in a tar for flashing in odin

Makr sure u are on el30 or fc09
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
do i need to be rooted though? since i can't root GB using one-click
thanks
No, that will automatically root for you. And make sure you flash cwm through odin not rom manager
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
i tried running that zlimage file but it just hangs while installing in ODIN at KERNEL
Ok, that's my fault, give me 5 min to edit a complete stock odin file

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
thanks brotha' and i'll let you know how it goes!
keeps failing. not to sound noob but this does go in the PDA slot correct?
Yes, that's right. Extract the zimage from the first zip and see if odin will flash just a straight up zimage , I think it does but never tried. Again you need el30 or fc09
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2

put the zimage in the pda slot and make sure there is no pit file
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
no go. tried redownloading the file put it still hangs at "kernel"....not sure what else to try
Yea, it's the file itself...i will make one that works when i get home
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
thanks man. i'll be waiting patiently...
One last try, do you have heimdall installed?...the terminal/cmd one. I believe there is one for windows as well as ubuntu. After you install it run heimdall flash -kernel --zimage

[Q] How to flash stock firmware?

Haven't played with an android for a while now (since the release of the GS2 Skyrocket).
I Just downloaded the stock Bell firmware from sammobile.com
Do I just put the phone into download mode and use odin to flash it?
Can some one please refresh my memory....!!!
Thanks!
Extract the tar from the zip you downloaded. Place it in the PDA slot. Make sure repartition is NOT checked. Flash

uamdl recovery backup?

Hello all.
I have been looking for a way to backup the recovery from the phone.
I have not yet rooted it but want to and then with still being rooted put back the stock recovery like I did on my s3 with a dd command.
Does anyone know where I can find that recovery and what partition the recovery is saved on?
thanks
I would like to know too before buying one myself.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda premium
Just use dd to extract it.

i understood that if i unlock my bootloader i cant get update from asus, but i checked it now and i got update.
can i download this update or should i download from the internet because it will lock my bootloader?
Unlocking the bootloader does not affect updating, just need to have stock recovery and no root to be safe

Well then you'll have to flash stock recovery and unfreeze all the system apps so it passes the check. Now what I did, since I couldn't find the 97 recovery was flash the 90 recovery and then applied the 97 ota through sd_update, then I applied the 139 update,
