Hi. So I just bought an SGS3 and have been loving it. I have a nexus 7 and have the poetic flip case on it. Since I liked that case a lot, I wanted something similar for my sgs3. I searched around the internet and couldn't find anything exactly like the peotic flip case for the s3. I ended up getting the elago g5 case on sale from amazon last week after thanksgiving. After using it for a week, I loved the feel and how slim it was but was disappointed that the notification light was covered by the case.
With that in mind, to help distract me while studying for finals, I decided to mod the case a little and thought I would share with everyone what I did in case anyone else wanted to do it as well! I didn't take any pictures during the making of, sorry.
Anyway, what I did was drill a hole in the case where the notification light is covered, enabling me to see the light while the case is closed. I liked this, but the light was kind of sunken in if you will, so it was hard to see it if looking at it from an angle, like if a placed it on my desk in front of me while studying.
So after thinking about it for a while, I went to radio shack and bought a 5mm rounded top led; any color will do as long as the plastic bulb is clear. Once I had the led, I cut off the top of the bulb and fit it into the hole I previously drilled for the notification light. The result was that when the notification light flashes, the whole bulb illuminates so it is really easy to tell when you have a notification!
Since the sgs3 doesn't turn off when the flip case closes, I downloaded the app Smart Cover from the android market. To make it work though, I has to place a small piece of white tape on the inside of the flip case where it covers the proximity and light sensors so that the sensors recognize when flip case closes (this is a known problem with dark colored flip cases).
The resulting product is a flip case similar to the poetic case for the nexus 7 which still allows you to see your notifications! Hope you all enjoy my it.
Wow nice! You are a genius! :good:
You are resourceful and creative.
I never understand why such great features as this are so often overlooked by the design team.
Good work.
Your mod looks really cool and I want to get this flip case and do the same mods.
How's using this case now? Is it starting to separate due to wear and tear. Is it worth $35? What size drill bit did u use to make the hole to fit a 5mm led tip?
Brillant. I just sign up to get the free flip cases samsung are giving. Once it gets here doing it this to it! Which would look better blue bulb or white bulb on orange case?

Wow, nice mod. I thin there is a market for this product..
really nice mod how can i get that?
That is awesome.
Ohh cool! It was a big down side for me that the case itself didnt have those cutouts.
Looks good!

Hey. Sorry for the delayed response. The case is holding up great. I've compared it to my friend's sgs3 case from Samsung (which he got at roughly the same time as me) and its holding up far better; no fraying of deterioration. The case looks and feels much better in person/hand and I highly recommended it.
As far as the drilling, I actually used a dremel to do it since my tool choice was limited at college. Specifically I used a wood drill bit for the hole and then a gauze like polishing bit at a high speed to essentially burn the edges of the hole, cleaning it up, and making in look a little better. Hope that helps.

Received my Trident Aegis case today. Went with the bright green (which I so far prefer to the darker green which they previously used, I had a Cyclops case in this color on my HTC Glacier.)
One gripe is, so far, the open space surrounding the camera on the back of the case. This is an odd decision. Not a big deal to me, though; but still worth mentioning.
The biggest gripe, though, is that the phone is not at all easy to actually get into the case. I'm not saying that it doesn't fit. The problem is that you first place the phone into the colored, gel surrounding piece. You then have to fit these piece (and its protruding buttons) into the very hard and rigid black/grey plastic piece. It's kind of hard to do this since the gel-covered buttons have to fit into the holes on the device, and I ended up hitting the power button over and over again, and botting into recovery because one of the volume rockers was held down.
My Cyclops case, for the Glacier, was designed in the opposite way. The phone first fit into two hard pieces (a front and back piece, basically), and then a black rubber surrounding piece went around the plastic itself. This was really easy to take the phone out of and place it back within.
I know people will ask...I'd say the phone doesn't add too much in the way of size to the already very large S-II, but the only comparison I have is the D30. I do not have the Incipio or Seideio cases to compare.
My aegis case for my vibrant was the same. Its how they all are in terms of getting it on. Waiting for mine to get for the sgs2

my main concern is how well it protects but a close second on how hard it is to get out of the pocket. if im going to spend to cash to get something that would work well i want it to be what i want. any opinions?
So overall how do you feel about the case?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I'd say pocket fitment is mostly contingent upon the pocket. I have been putting the SII + Trident case in the front pocket of shirts and it only sticks out a small bit. It fits in my jeans pockets, but I wear my jeans a bit baggy. It won't fit in the pockets of my dressier slacks. So, I find it easy to get out of most pockets. My Glacier + Trident was actually probably a bit more difficult due to the ribbed silicone surround. The case for the S II doesn't have much to snag on. Keep in mind though, that the Glacier + Case was a lot thicker, front screen to back battery cover, than the S II is. This definitely had something to do with it as well.
Overall I am pleased with the case. I like the color options, shape, and structural design of the case. While I did find the previous "Cyclops" style case that I had for my Glacier to be easier to take off and on, this new case seems, at least at first glance, to provide equal or better protection while also being easier to fit in pockets.
One footnote: I'm using this case along with a Zagg wet application invisible shield and I'm not having any issues with the corners peeling.
What did you pay? Looks sick.

Same question I had, it says on product page that it includes a "Re-Applicable Screen Protector".
BTW, coupon code "holiday2011" gives you a nice $7 off!
does the screen protector look to be of good quality?
I also noticed that the plastic doesn't hold/secure the rubber on the bottom of the phone, is it easy for the bottom corners to come off say when you're putting it in or pulling it out of your pockets?
Thanks!

The screen protector does look cheap. I'm not using it so I didn't really pay much attention to it. The hard case does not wrap around the bottom, so it is just the gel casing. But I haven't had any issues with the case coming off when putting the phone in my pocket
I really wish otter would make a defender case for this phone! I loved it on my iPhone

I paid $22 with free shipping using the promo code holiday2011.
And yes, I got it from the tridenteer site.
i just ordered one... ill compare and take pictures comparing it to my incipio silicrylic case when i get the trident
I put the screen protector on. Used a wet install. Looks great so far. Smooth feel and very clear. It is dark outside right now, so I will report back tomorrow during the day. Looks really good in the house. Just a few air bubbles settling. I can tell they will go away though.
Screen protector is great. Really clear in light and dark. I'm sure there's better quality out there but for free its great. Also I have the green case. Get compliments like crazy about this case. Very high quality and looks pretty sick. Great protection. Great looks. Great case.
FYI the Incipio case has the slight gap around the camera as well.
The only issue I have seen, been using the case about a week, is the flap that covers the charging port doesn't want to stay closed. It doesn't hang down enough to cause problems really but isn't a tight fit and would def let dust in. Other than this small issue the case works great.
As the thread title says, it just came in. Just put it on the phone and, no surprise, it's awesome. My phone is the Verizon LTE version with an extended battery and it fits perfectly (sure, it's a tight fit, but that's normal for Sena's stuff and will get easier to remove/replace as the leather molds to the phone). I'll put some pics up later when I can locate the regular digital camera.
I have had the opposite experience. I have a GSM nexus and the case is far too tight. The power and volume buttons are frequently pressed causing pocket screen shots and unnecessary ware on the buttons. I have had the case for just over a week and while it has stretched its still causing problems.
The best slip case so far has been a microfiber bag intended for my sunglasses. Although its not as pretty as the sena.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
One thing I have done to help the cases stretch is reach inside and spread it out. I did it by putting an old 2.5" laptop hard drive in the case.
Is it a pouch?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Got mine too. I have the GSM version and I have to agree, the fit is too tight.
I considered the Sena Ultra Slim too in my search for a nice and slim pouch but ultimately decided on the fitBag Beat.
It's not "super" slim as the Sena is but still slim. Have a look here if you are interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454961
I love Sena ultra slim case. I had them on my HTC Desire, iPad 1 and iPad 2.
They are really tight in the beginning. But since they are leather, they stretch. After a week or two you should find them fitting snugly, but not too tight. As far as leather quality is concern, they are top notch.
That being said, I just don't feel like using a pouch on my phone anymore. But if I were to get one, this is definitely my choice.
Anyone else wishing there were thousands of tiny holes where the notification light sits (not to mention near the ringer speaker!) ?
Maybe I can mod mine with a needle and some patience...

Just go to Sena's homepage and order it! You will have it in 2 or 3 working days. Really fast delivery! But I would buy another case since it presses down the volume and power buttons all the time. I have tried to stretch the case a lot, but since the seaming is on the inside the problem still remains occasionally...

I find this happening less and less as I use the case, without even doing any deliberate stretching beyond leaving the phone in the pouch for hours at a time.
This thing is great for my battery life too as knowing I will need to remove the case helps me resist the urge to wake it up just to flip the home screens back and forth
The case is really tight at first but after a day it has stretched out quite nicely and it is a very comfortable fit, no issues with power button anymore.
Super slim, love it!

Hey guys! New here.
So I was about to buy the Ultraslim when much to my surprise I found a new case waiting for me! The ultraslim is now gone but the new design is much more appealing to me. Can't post links since I'm new, but it should be easy to find!
I'm hoping they fixed the tight fit problems. I might send a quick email to them asking about this.

No 'real' use' feedback but i notice its flush with the phone so it wont offer that little bit of screen protection you sometimes get. Just a thought.
I have 2. Its not flush.. it sticks up a *slight* bit and my screen doesn't touch when I place it face down on my desk. This case IMHO is the best that's out there. No its not bullet and water proof but its sexy and slim, perfectly fitting and a very high end feel. I have the white and black and both are great.

I bought it when i first ordered my note and have had it on since (as well as bought one for the gal friend). It's freaking awesome, would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Own one as well and very very satisfied with my purchase.
Owned an SGP ultra thin prior and I prefer the Elago over it, due to its better fittment and less flashy look.
so I managed to drop my phone on the sidewalk with this case on. As luck would have it, it fell upright, bottom down first and made contact right at the part where the case ends and the phone begins. Even though the case took a majority of the hit, there is a dent on the phone's frame itself. Not the result I was hoping for.
On the flip side, I have also dropped it face down and there wasn't a scratch on the screen.
Bottom line, if you're looking for all around protection, it may not be your best choice. Maybe getting one of the aluminum bumpers could be the way to go.

Are you talking about with the case on? If that's what you mean, then it kind of fits in the vertical dock. It doesn't go down all the way obviously but it recognizes it as being connected, charging, and so on. Only thing I've noticed is that on AOKP it thinks the vertical dock is a horizontal one and wouldn't change for me.

As far as removing the case, I start from the top left corner then pop it off of the bottom right. I don't like applying a lot of pressure on the power button.

Can you share some pics? I'm waaay more anxious now!
Well I just noticed my case was sitting on my porch. Da! :silly:
After opening it up I am pleasantly pleased.
The case is very slim. Picture 2 iPad smart covers with the tablet sandwiched in between.
The material is nice. Can't really explain what it is accept if you mated the iPad smart cover with some faux leather.
It feels great in my hand and looks good. I really like the slim design.
It is held in nicely with the four corner hooks.. Yes the pen is covered up with oneof the hooks, but the hook easily comes off and you have easy access to the pen.
The other 3 hooks hold the tablet tightly but the pen corner hook is not as tight allowing the access.
Both the typing angle and the up right angle are stable and I don't feel like it will topple over as I pushed on it.
Ports , buttons are all accessible and you can charge while the case is on and closed.
The case has the elastic band on its backside which you pull over the front to hold it closed.
I got the gray color which compliments the tablet nicely. Very professional looking.
I ordered it on the 29th-took 10 days.
Do I recommend it. Yes.
Would I buy it again? Yes.
I will update with pictures later.

Yeah, I bought one of these also in grey, but it hasn't arrived. Should come this week.
I like the thinness of the case.
However, I also got a Noreve case, as I think the top of the tablet is better protected.
That was my only critizism of the ROCK. There didn't seem a lot of protection on the side edges and the top of the case for the device.
What's your thoughts on this?

It has enough protection for me to feel comfortable throwing it in my bag or brief case. I was looking for something slim at a good price that did not cover the bezzle. I figure there will be alot of cases coming out soon.

The only reason I try to avoid rubber band cases are because once they snap, your case is useless.
Would the band break? (is it secure?)
I have had this case for a week now and my band still seems secure. I use this case alot in everyday use
without the band so even if the band snapped which i doubt it will- it would still work.
Is it just the pictures or does the dark grey look like a very light grey?

I would say some where in between but more leaning towards the darker. Pix make it look lighter.
I've got the grey one from the local store. It's not a light grey. It's more like a graphite color.
The green one is a light green, kinda like ocean green.
The brown one is also a light brown.
The case is well-maded ,beautiful and thin but I think I will have to sell it because it's difficult to take the pen out.

All I had to do was gently flex the tab outward and it will fix this, than put the tablet back in and the tab will now be easier to open and the tablet is still held securely.

I would say the grey case is 50% black. Print out a 50% tint to get the idea (assuming your printer is correctly calibrated )

Hello, I love this case, but I have a Nexus 10, which is actually similar to the Note.
Someone would have the chance to try the case in a Nexus 10?
Greetings.
Just came across a review for the Khomo Back Cover
Interesting...

Maybe...
Maybe this is what I have been looking for. Now I just have to find somewhere that can ship it to Sweden for a reasonable price.
Any tips?
I would so buy this if that logo isnt there. lol
^Yeah. Logo ruins this.

One major flaw, it leaves the camera lens exposed so that it can be scratched every time you put your phone down. Would need a quick Sugru mod.
It looks like you could rub the logo off
i bought this on amazon for $6.99 its not bad. was kinda my last resort as i was looking for something to match my pebble blue but theres nothing out there that did so i went for utility. its definitely has more grip than OEM but not by much. its a soft touch type material. fits just like an oem though. more rigid too

it attracts more scratches(superficial can be wiped away) than dust
Got my back in... Love it, minus the damn khomo across the bottom, it's perfect for me

Manufacturers need to make more of an effort if they insist on stamping their logos on the back of their parts? Especially when the logo looks like it was designed in about 3 minutes by a 12 year old....
O.P! Check out my camera mod! Hope this can be useful with your rubberized cover.

Got the same battery cover myself. It doesn't provide more grip in all situations, but definitely provides more "feel" and less slippery than the original one as it's not gloss. What I mean by all situations is that most of the time I don't have a problem gripping the original gloss back, but it definitely becomes harder to grip (slippery) when my hands are too dry or have a little dust/dirt on them.
Every review and picture I've seen of this case has it fitting perfectly and snuggly like the Samsung original battery cover. However, mine is a little bit off. Seems the tolerance on the tabs are just a bit off and won't fit completely on my S3. Some of the corners won't 'snap' to latch and there's a noticeable gap along the edge. Doesn't feel like it will fall off but you can see it. I ordered through Amazon and will be returning this one to them. I did order the exact same case again from Amazon to see if the tolerance on that one is any better. If it fits well, I am definitely keeping it.
The case makes the phone feel more solid. There is no give/bending/etc on it at all when pressing along the back. Again the biggest complaint is the company logo. I've remedied this somewhat by darkening the logo with some flat black paint. I used a paint pen so it was pretty simple to do without it bleeding onto the rubberized part. You could probably do the same with a Sharpie to make the logo stand out less.
Would be really sweet to get my hands on 2 covers. Any tips on how to buy them or getting them transported to sweden?
Many thanks!
looks good
