I've had Jellybean for a while now, but recently I've had a bunch of issues come up. Just tonight, my camera app has started crashing whenever I try to take a picture. I have tried clearing app data and resetting the device. Is anyone else having this issue? Is anyone having as many issues with this update as me?
I am completely stock and unrooted.

my camera will take pictures but if you try to switch to the 'front' cam it goes black and eventually says 'warning, camera failed'
Did you flash the 4.2 camera app?

i was running strongsteves odexed blue, i just odin'd back to the stock unrooted jellybean and camera still fails, back to the store, good thing its only been a week...
I am on complete stock, and my camera will just give me a black screen and then show the home screen when I try to take a picture. I haven't called Sprint yet, but it really annoys me that there are so many bugs with this update!!
stock and unrooted limits you in what you can do.
I say root the bad boy, and flash a custom rom. Then you can really take the phone for a ride.
Camera Problems?
If your running stock and unrooted either go to the sprint store and get yourself a new phone (it will be refurbished), or do what the last guy said, root the SOB and flash the 4.2 camera, its badass, check this one out.

Hi,
I've created a flashable zip based on the files extracted by dmmarck (it's all his doing! I'm just packaging it). Just flash from CWM or TWRP.
Everything should work: regular pics, photosphere, gallery and editor. On my device, it all coexists nicely with my existing camera and gallery.
Edit: just noticed that garner had updated his own thread with more things working. It seems his archive contains fewer files, which is great if you want to save space. If it's not working for you, though, try this version.

Anyone having heat issues with the new cam?
I've heard claims that, yes, it can run your phone pretty hot.
Not sure what it's doing.

I just noticed that JB 4.2 camera does not have some features what ICS/JB camera has...
Is there any way to get JB 4.1.2 camera for an second camera without another gallery app? ICS camera ("+" version from play store) does not have good features what JB 4.1.2 camera has! :/

Currently using dark paranoid 2.25.1 tablet mode and this camera app working much better and faster than the stock 4.1.2 camera. Loved that photosphere shots.

the ONLY problem I am having with the photosphere is that it seems to snap pictures when the blue dot isnt directly center of the target. Its close to but not directly center which leads to most of my pictures being "off" from one another.. I wonder if theres a way to slow down the speed or pause it for a second so the blue dot lines up correctly

In my case, I found out that actually slowing down while panning with my phone made things better. I guess my phone was having a hard time figuring out what I was aiming it at.
i've tried to slow it down also (this isnt the panorama selection but the photosphere), but once the blue dot to line up the next shot gets close to the target recticle center where it should be(might be a better word), it snaps the next picture before even getting in the center if that makes sense
I get force close when opening both camera and gallery app. Hmm.. not sure what's wrong though.
I have a cwm backup, but is there other way to restore old camera back? maybe someone has the original apk for camera and gallery?
if not I'll just do a full restore.

Im working on the HDR mode i just cant seem to edit the apk

I believe that as long as you delete /system/app/GalleryGoogle.apk and reboot your phone, you should have access to your old camera.
Of course it is different from ROM to ROM...

rename the gallery2.apk to gallery.bak, then try to install. I dont see a gallery4 on mine (current Bamf), just a GALAXY4, which is a lwp and googlegallery is what the new one is (I think).
Will it work in Galaxy s3?

Hey guys, I'm running Jellybam 5.1 on my Bell Note 2. However, I've run into a rather annoying problem. The camera doesn't work! It'll take a picture ,but then it'll freeze and then flash 10 seconds later. When I go to view the photo in the gallery, it appears blank and then crashes. Also, it seems as though the quality of the jellybean camera is inferior to the stock camera on touchwiz. Any solutions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

that happens to me too. also, i have problems on phone calls too.
i dont have a solution to that, but i suggest you to switch to AOKP or CM10.1 rom. save a lot of trouble.
Its the aosp 4.2 camera right? I believe if u turn off the flash it shud work ok.....not sure cuz im on a tw based rom but give it a shot

Turn off the flash or just press the blue button on the screen to take the pic instead of pressing the screen first.
Have AT&T GS3 I747 that took a swim. Was able to rescue it, but lost the camera. Tried most everything I could find searching here and elswhere, and finally decided to replace the camera hardware (rear facing, front facing works fine).
Got the new camera installed, and still get the camera failed notice when starting up the TW camera app.
Wondering if it may be driver related. I am running deTmobilized 1.3 ROM, and it behaves the same as the stock UCDLK3 for this error.
Is there perhaps another component that might be causing this, or a way to update to newer camera drivers?

I have tried 3 different ROMS (stock UCDLK3, rooted UCDLK3, and deTmobilized 1.3.
I have also tried all these with both the original back facing camera hardware, and the new camera hardware.
With the original camera hardware, I can get a camera firmware check to complete with *#34971539#. With the new camera hardware, the factory test fails with attempting to run the camera firmware check key sequence. Here is the screenshot foom the camera firmware check that does run to completion.

Have you tried a custom like cyanogenmod? I am just curious since those camera drivers are different than touchwiz.

Just tried the nightly of CM, and no luck with camera working. Gallery would not start. Looking more and more like a board level hardware problem. I have a copy of the GT-I9300 service manual which has a troubleshooting flowchart for the 8M camera. If I can rig a test jig and get a scope, maybe I can try that. It requires checking voltages at 6 points on the MB, and also a frequency check at one point.

No need to apologize, guess that is what I deserve for dropping the darn phone into the toilet! The good news is it finally got me off the stock ROM and into better things! Now, to hope I can score a replacement phone without having to cut off an appendage to obtain it.

I recently flashed liquid smooth rom android 4.2.2 on my galaxy s3 i747. I love the rom but for some reason the camera shows a stretched image when taking a photo, but when I go and view the photo taken it looks normal. Why is this happening? The same thing seemed to have when I was on cyanogenmod 10.1. I really don't think its the phones camera but maybe the gapps? Never had this problem on stock touchwiz. Is there any way to fix this? It may be a problem with the AOSP camera or your kernel. Lowering the picture's resolution is a temporary fix. If not, try switching between front and back cameras, exit the camera, and reopen camera. Hope i helped!

His issues:
1) phone didn't receive calls all the time
2) when factory camera app opens all images were fuzzy or staticy
3) images of static when taken didn't save.... random icon app shows up in gallery
4) If you used Skype - camera was fine
SO I knew it couldn't be the camera itself.... so i decided to root the phone and update firmware/software and see what happens
I used CWM, then Jedi Mind tricks V6

Try a ROM that is 4.1.x. I had a similar problem where a lot of my pictures didn't show up, so I switched to a different ROM and it seemed to have worked. I'm on Infamous right now, and it works fine. Or you can try JediJelly, which is similar to JMT, but is updated and works rather well.

any idea where to download a good one (that you know will work without viruses or crash etc)?
