Hey guys I've been trying to tether my N7 with the Dinc2 with barnacle. Some help would be appreciated, everything works alright on the barnacle end but the N7 won't pick it up. Any suggestions? I'm on the latest cm10.

Just try WiFi Tether instead. It's by Google and is the best one

Thanks, but with WiFi tether it gets to the point of connecting to the WiFi and just sits there trying to connect. But at lest it finds the connection this time.

You can try the way I have posted for tethering to game consoles in general

alright, if you run into issues let me know.
also; if it doesn't work. the n7 will most likely pick up the built in tether from CM7, my ps3 did.

ICS in Galaxy Nexus has it by default, hasn't it?
Yeah, its under settings->wireless & networks->More->Tethering & hotspots
You can also try opengarden in the marketplace

If you use the built in tethering can you be tracked like on gingerbread?

The built-in wifi hotspot feature will ask you to add tethering to your phone plan before you can even enable it. I currently use "wifi hotspot and usb tether" app from the market and it works flawlessly on my unrooted (stock) Galaxy Nexus LTE phone.

Thread needs to be moved.
I don't have the answer to your question, but assuming you're using Windows, you could try using Connectify in order to create a hotspot from your laptop. It works well with my Galaxy Nexus!

Tasker : I have S3 and Nexus 7. I was thinking maybe I could use the NFC and tasker to easy/automatic set up shared internet on the s3 when I bump the devices together. Any thoughts?

Are you asking , can you turn on the wireless hotspot , by touching the devices together using nfc?

Download wireless tether for root, then set the device profile to Samsung galaxy sIII and hit tether. I tether to my Asus transformer prime when I'm at school.

I don't think it's possible by itself.... But in theory you could get tectiles and attach one to your nexus 7, program it to turn the hotspot on.
Sent from Pluto.
I was considering that. I have ordered them and was thinking maybe I could place one on the inside of a case for the Nexus so IT wont be visible.

I have been using FoxFi and I love it. The latest Sprint ICS update seams to be blocking FoxFi. I know FoxFi is working on this problem but I was wondering if there is another solution without root until they fix it? I have tried the bluetooth version and the other bluetooth apps with no success. Has anyone had success with any other apps or ways? Or will I just have to wait for FoxFi to find a solution and come out with updated version?
Thanks in advance
Also I do not think pdanet is working but im not 100 percent sure.

when does your billing cycle end? and also how many gigabytes have you used so far during this billing cycle?
On my billing cycle I had like 50g used. LoL. No extra charge. I don't think this update is just on my phone because there are several people having this update. Why you think this is just for me?

I am going to take a stab and suggest Sprint is not happy with that kind of usage and finally plugged a hole.
I have been reading though forums that everyone is getting this update and its even on FoxFi website that its a Google update on ICS on not specifically a Sprint update. FoxFi is coming out with a counter update.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had luck with finding another way to have wifi hot spot without root. Until FoxFi comes out with an update.

Sweet if only roam control Dev would do the same

When you say 50g do you mean 50gb on sprints network? If so I applaud you good sir. Sprints network in my area makes it hard for me to use 2 gigs.
Yes! 50gb. I just download and leave it lol. Also set up hot spot when I'm mobile.
Does no one know of a killer working app for non rooted users?

Hello? Its the absolutely latest update. ICS 4.1.1 The Jelly Bean Update.
FoxFi Says: WiFi hotspot failed to start please use Bluetooth dun. It has been working all this time until latest update.
Any solutions?

Just curious, doesn't your phone heat up a lot when using it as a WiFi hotspot? I haven't used my phone as a hotspot since my Hero, hence my username, but it used to heat up fast.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yes it does but if I am going to use it like hardcore I put it on a laptop cooler on top one of the fans.

Under normal conditions its not that bad.

Why not just root and never need a third party WiFi hotspot app again?
You can totally unroot when needed
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
What's the best way to root the nexus? Something very simple and leaves the phone pretty much stock? Isn't there a 1 click root program that let's you do anything to your nexus?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
Rooted stock count?

I don't know. What's the best program where I can just root the phone and put an app on it that will allow wifi hotspots with jelly bean 4.1.1 update.
