Just wondering if upgrading from ICS (already rooted) is worth it to go to JB. The tablet runs real good in ICS with no issues. Apart from being new and possibly? with glitches/bugs is there any compelling reason to switch over to JB? Is the tablet smoother? Faster? etc.?

Sosei outperforms CM10 too. Give Sosei a run before you settle on CM10.
G2x-CM7 Nightly 11/18/12 Build, Trinity ELP Kernel
I made the jump to jellybean a week ago, and I have been very happy with it. I don't have any major reasons for the switch other than I was having some stability issues with 4.0.3 and Chrome. I first used pio's B2 build, and I didn't notice any issues other than no GPS and a minor clock display issue. I really want the GPS, so I just installed B1 and have not had any issues yet.
The benefits of project butter are evident and compelling.

Well, with the latest and greatest roms from some very talented and dedicated devs for the Dinc 2, I officially see no reason to reason to use CM7 or MIUI Gingerbread anymore. I was running both of these earlier in the week and in short order found my way back to ICS roms in very short order.
I can't wait till source fixes the few things that are left to fix, but I can live with what I have for now.
Thanks to the Dinc 2 Devs out there!!!
On gingerbread miui... I like it so much I don't see the point to switching. Everything is exactly how I want it... Plus not sure what is so much better about ics

IMO, not as smooth as it will be when HTC releases whatever the hell they are supposed to release, but running damn fine.
I hear a lot of good things about the ics Roms but I'm still not ready for ics. There are still to many bugs that I don't want to have to deal with. When HTC releases some source or we get a good leak ill jump on board.

Cm9 is great, and honestly is at a caliber that is worthy of daily use. Their aren't any issues I can point to, asside from what's known not to work, that I can say would prevent me from using it for good. That being said, I'm running condemned's cm7.2

I went back to miui gb, after a day of taking easter pix of the kids inside and outside of the house in the bright sun, the auto brightness not working is a killer.
I can't wait for Opensense4 to be as functional as AOKP and CM9. I use my camera on a daily basis, so I haven't made the transition yet to an ICS ROM as my DD (from SRZeus). I am actually about to give AOKP build 31 a go for a few days. I say if you like what you have, why change? But it is nice to see all the hard work being put into ROMs for a phone that doesn't have all the leaks yet.

So, ICS is incredibly stable on our devices now. Camera flash on AOSP is the only issue that I can think of. UKB is a fantastic sense 4 ROM that has a useable flash. Have we reached the "umbilical separation point" that the OP suggests?

AOKP has more tweaks but CM9 is a little better IMO.

Has anyone considered making a GB ROM that worked and looked exactly like vanilla ICS. You know, just to give us a full functional ICS ROM without the drivers? The only thing you couldn't do was use ICS apps and launchers.

I am currently using a Sensation, however I will likely be purchasing a GNEX in the next week or two. I have become accustomed to flashing different ROMs on my Sensation so I wanted to know if a stable (not nightly) version of CM9 was currently available for this device. I checked on the CM site and its a bit hard to determine what is nightly vs stable, so I figured I would ask around here. Thanks in advance, and I hope to be joining the discussions on this forum soon!
no phones have a non-nightly version. NO RC1 version has came out for CM9 regardless of what phone it is.
aokp is really stable + more features than cm9.
Cm9 is stable and fast.

CM9 newest nightly is always the best f it is newer than RC!
on ZTE Blade I flash always the newest nightly of CM7...
Does GN CM9 Nightly (newest) use the Android 2.3 Gingerbread CM7 music player? If I remember fine then it is using that..
Please, use CM9 AND DONT USR AOKP! We don't need another thread about someone complaining about something not working or horrible battery drain...etc...etc. CM9 is leaps and bounds faster and more stable.

I disagree, AOKP is very stable. It has many features. Don't take what people says. Its about personal preference
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I came from the Sensation and while Vorbeth did a nice job with Opensensation, the nightly CM9 I'm running is VERY excellent. The only bugs I saw when I skimmed thru the thread were with people trying to run custom kernels.
And to be honest, the stock ROM was kicking ass too. There's nothing like having a phone that's truly open to unlock and have fun with. Plus, there are no bugs with certain components usually found in phones with sense or touchwiz. Bluetooth, camera, video recording and HD playback WORK exactly the way they're supposed to.
From this point forward, I will only buy a nexus device. I'm not trying to convince you, just giving my honest opinion.

If you are asking what the differences are then you obviously want to try it out but looking for someone to convince you too.. Do yourself a favor man download the 9/13 nightly if you can and try it out for yourself. JB has improvements over ICS that you just need to see. Calm on man you have a device that can hold every rom in here and you can switch back at any time. Don't treat your phone like that give it a chance to try something new.... No more questions GO FOR IT

The "smoothness" is hard to quantify and, to me, barely noticeable compared to MS6.
The RRs, SODs, and in call audio issues with JB are very noticeable.
MS6 also has deeper user feature set than the still-developing JB.
I am super grateful that WHX is developing the JB for our phones.
But I will wait patiently on the more stable MS6 until JB starts reaching full milestones.

What exactly are you disappointed about? Try the latest official builds of cm10 or aokp. Not a nightly or a kang.. an official build.
Try Paranoid, it looks pretty wild!
SHHHH!!!! You're not allowed to say that!
I've done the same as you. The only change I've made to stock is run nova launcher to make it a bit more purdy and personalized.
Minco is pretty nice since it's really close to stock but faster, but in the end I'd rather just run stock for peace of mind (not that Minco was unstable).
Stock based roms perform the best in my opinion. Although Bamf Paradigm and Wasabi Miui run well for me, if I run them with trinity 1344 kernel.
IMO It seems like CM and AOKP stay in the nighties phase for way too long, and bugs and stability issues take too long to fix. This has been the case on most phones I have owned. They are great innovative roms though. I find it rare when a Rom with loads and loads of features runs as good as stock based roms do. I love having features, but performance, stability and battery life are above all features for me. I can just find mods myself anyways and add them as I need.
If stock is what works best for you, run stock, there's nothing wrong with that.
Why do you want people to change your mind?

Fast reply, I don't even know what that is but anyway, Android comes down to user preference, if you enjoy stock, then rock it dude, I've tried only a handful of roms here but stock gives the most solid performance 9 out of ten times. granted I'm running Slimbean now, but I like to flash every two weeks and this rom is pretty great aside from bootup time XD.

I've tweaked till the cows come home but I think Google have totally cracked it to be honest and early reports about 4.2 seem to suggest they've went one more step in terms of speed and look .The quick reply feature is in cm10 when you receive a SMS you get a pop up window at anytime so you can instantly reply ,must be enabled tho .

It is possible he is wanting an official release so he can have wi-fi calling. I personally don't like the CM based roms since my banks website doesn't work with any of them, whether it was on my vibrant, G2x, MyTouch 4G or my galaxy s II. So it's clearly something with the CM coding that makes my banks website not work correctly. That's a major deal breaker for me.

Of course he could be wanting an update with Touchwiz, in which case i have no idea how to help (p.s. Stock launcher is better than TW)
I am personally awaiting an official JB update as well. While our phone has great developer and community support I am itchy for some product butter. That amazing smoothness is one of the main reasons I have been running ASD's Tweakwiz even though I'm usually always loyal to AOSP
