Any update we are the only ones left without unlocking solution
I tried to contact "IOMonster" the one behind "Freenode" unlocking solution for AT&T , Sprint and Rogers "Optimus G" on IRC. But, with no luck. :crying:
I am ready to help if anything needed.

Anyone unlock one of these? I seem to remember reading somewhere a few months back Bell (who now owns virgin) saying they will never unlock it.
However I see that there are "WWE" branded unlocks for my version, wtf?
Here is the url of the exact phone I have - http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/phones/phone-details.html?model=HTCWILD&colour=White
Please no "I unlocked my DerpCellular wfs, you can too!!" stupidity that most of these threads digress into, either you have the exact phone or not. Anyone who lives in Canada and deals with Bell will understand why this needs to be asked
Hey, another virgin canada user.
i have that exact phone (same colour too) with virgin. Mine unlocked just fine via the htcdev unlock. You just need to select the "Bell Mobility WWE" RUU when unlocking it.
unlocked and rooted. bye bye useless bell apps.
be sure to notice that the unlock does a factory reset. back your stuff (contacts!) up before you start on it.
So when you say unlocked using the DEV tool, does that mean its network and sim unlocked? Also just curious, I have a Bell SIM card, can I use this in this phone without unlocking the network/sim?

nope, the htcdev bit only unlocks the bootloader. the sim lock and all the other bits of s-on remain in place. you'll need an xtc clip or an unlock code if you want the ditch the network shackles.
as for the virgin->bell, no idea. there seems to be conflicting information on whether bell/virgin sims are interchangeable or not. some people report it works, other report it doesn't.

Excellent, I was NOT expecting to be able to do this.
And now for a stupid question, what is a good way to back everything up for a quick reinstall?
AFAIK, There isn't one really, other than exporting your contacts and writing down all your apps names, as all the real useful backup methods require root.
OTOH, unless you like customizing extensively, it should only take a day or two to get things back to normal.
sent from my rooted wildfire s
My current S3 is locked to Rogers,
I really don't want to go to a carrier unlocking site like cellunlockerdotnet to unlock my phone. I was wanting to know if there are any developers here have any insight on this, whether there's any hope of there being a tool that will unlock it from Rogers (that I would be more than glad to donate to) or if I and others should just risk going on said sites?
On a side note, I'm curious as per why these cell unlocking sites have the ability to send unlock codes and there hasn't been anything here to do so? I'll be glad to provide all the information of my device to move forward with any Canadian SIM unlocking tool that may be in progress.
Hi everyone, I bought this phone on ebay locked with AT&T and the seller send me the unlock code to use it with another SIM card.
The thing is that he send me a wrong code and my 10 attempts ran out.
I started to search in google and here in the forums of xda and asking questions (no one reply sadly). After six hours or more I managed to find a solution for this problem and I found that changing the baseband of the phone will work.
I tried several basebands and did not work.
Then I fond this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784709 (credits for mattman86)
I followed the tutorial until "Flashing AT&T Stock ROM (2.3.5 or 4.0.4)" there I replace the ".img's" of this pre-rooted ICS ROM http://mattman86.smashtext.com/ROMs/Stock%20AT&T%20ICS/IMG_Files/V20c_IMG.zip exept the baseband and voila! unlocked pre-rooted ICS phone with korean baseband! didnt ask for code or anything.
If someone can make a flashable ROM but with the korean baseband will help the people with the same problem I had.
And you don't have to buy an unlock code!
Hopefully this poorly made guide helped someone and please forgive me for my bad English. Greetings!! :

Hello, as i can see you're from Chandigarh,India and you want to unlock your Telus HTC Desire HD,all i can give you easiest method without any troublesome and without rooting or unlocking bootloader. You may have to simply follow below given link.
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-NETWORK...111?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f37413d7f
Need to contact supplier locally,as he's also belongs to same location as yours. Also you may give him IMEI first before buying it.Send him a message and deal with it. Once you receive 7 digit code. Just insert any carrier working sim card. It will ask you to enter unlock pin code.,Type given code provided by supplier as given!
Once done,it will prompt a message "Your device is Unlocked" and so you're ready to rock with any carrier you want. Most of the time supplier asks you to be on Stock Rom,but as long as your phone detects non legit sim card has installed, you're good to go.In your case your device is Stock so no worries.
That's the simplest method with cheapest way to unlock without messing around and trying to ended up bricking it. This link i found. You might find cheaper than this. But that's how i did with my device.

I have an A505U as well that's recently off contract and I am trying to root it, not having any luck though :'( My OEM Unlock setting is missing in the Developer Options as well; none of the common methods for getting it to appear work :/
