i've returned my phone to stock, but it won't boot, it stays on the samsung screen after the att animation. i know i can get it to boot by getting into recovery and performing a factory reset. however i have been led to believe that this will delete my internal sd card data. is there any way to get this data onto my computer before i do this? or have i been misled and it doesn't delete the internal sd card?

I'm having this issue with an EVO I rooted for someone, it randomly reboots. If I remove the SD card and boot up the phone it works perfectly, when the SD card is re-installed it will randomly start rebooting. Any fix to this issue or someone suffering from the same problems?
The phone has the stock rom de-odexed 3.70.651.1 rooted with unrevoked3.
Any advice?

The first thing I would try is formatting the sd card. Perhaps there is a corrupt file on it or something. Back up the important stuff that is needed (pics, music, whatever) then format it. Either use a windows machine to format it FAT32, or use the phone to format it. I believe the setting is from Sd and storage, from the settings menu.
Anything else besides losing all of the data in the SD card?

If you back it up first you won't lose anything.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So backup SD card, format SD card then restore data to SD card again.
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the format?

If you are getting random reboots and you narrowed it down to your SD card. You want to try saving what you need like pictures and etc. Format the SD card and transfer those files back over. As for your apps on your SD card, yeah those are going to be gone if you format. Something on your SD card isn't playing nice with the ROM.
If it still restarts after this, you will need to wipe data, cache, dalvik in recovery. This will reset everything and you will lose all apps and data.
I had done factory reset data for internal memory of my mobile with sd card mounted in it and after the completion of factory reset data sucessfully im unable to find the apps which are in sd card but it shows the same exact memory of sd card as before doing factory reset i tried to open with file manager no sign of apps which are in sd card!!!! does anyone know something about this ???? plzz i need help..
factory reset deletes everything didnt you know
Only data stored for apps are on SD.
So time to re-install them again
So it's possible I might just be dumb and screwed up, but I think I might have reformatted something that I didn't mean to reformat.
I wanted to wipe my SD card because I found that there were random pics appearing in my gallery of people I've never seen before in my life (got the phone second hand but popped the SD card in that I used with my old Fascinate). Opening up My Computer, there were two different removable discs that were the SD card inside my phone and what I now presume to be internal storage. I backed up everything I wanted and wiped both the SD card and the other storage device via my laptop.
Here is the problem. Whenever I boot the phone up, there is a notification that says my SD card is either blank or not in a compatible format... It asks if I want to format it, I click OK, and everything seems fine... Until I have to reboot the phone and it does the same thing all over again. This is getting to be an annoyance because I don't want to keep deleting everything on my SD card whenever I reboot my phone.
Can anybody help me fix this?
Okay I definitely did something to the internal storage. I tried taking my SD card out and rebooting it and I am still getting the blank SD card notification. It won't let me format it. What do I do?
Try connecting the sdcard to your computer through a usb adapter, or any alternative to using the phone's USB-mount. Format it with FAT32. Put it back in your phone and see if it works. If not, you might have a corrupt sdcard. Try a different one if available.
What directory were the pictures appearing in? It's possible they were cached from the browser or some social app.
Last night I went to flash a new ROM and first made a nandroid on the external SD card as I always do. I then cleared cache, dalvik system wipe and cleaned out the old ROM to start fresh and clean. The battery then fell out and I was unable to get the phone to see the external SD card (no ROM installed) and I wasn't able to install the new ROM via internal as there was no way to load a ROM onto internal memory. I eventually found a stock ROM and flashed it through ODIN. The phone is up and working 100% today; however with the process of the battery falling out/reboot now windows NOR the phone can discover the 16GB SandDisk card with all of my pics/videos/files and most importantly the NANDROID backup. I have other micro SD cards and readers and have tried them in the phone and my CPU without trouble... SO what can I do to "unbrick" that SD card... what did I do with my S3 that bricked the mircro SD card in the first place?
TIA

That has happened to me when i had my evo OG and only solution was to get another sd card. .
No matter what I delete from internal sd card, it still shows 0.0B free in 'storage' on phone settings and gives me a no storage notification
I even deleted whatsapp images, miui backups worth 500mb
Tried rebooting
Still nothing
Can anyone help?
Don't want to factory reset
Format all using stock recovery
Put in a micro sd card
backup all your data
and do the factory reset
had almost the same error (had 700 mb free) and finely for fix this i had to flash the rom with fastboot , no mater what i did it was the only solution
Format the data using twrp !
Download a rom of your choice and put it in external SD card. Flash twrp if you don't already have it. Wipe everything except external sd card. Flash the new rom. Restart. Problem gone. Profit.
