When I compare 2 Sgn2 side by side then I notice there is a difference in both the screens as one is bit darker and sharper whereas the other one is lighter and normal
Both has screen protectors of the different company's . So can it be because of that or I think my handset screen is faulty ?
I compared some sgn2, and I found some screens are different, but every screens were same w/ same firmware. So, I can't say any clever, but it's maybe related to installed firmware also.
Both the firmwares are same and with the latest updates installed
Maybe different screens from sharp sony etc??

As I have checked both the devices came from diffrent locations ie Korea and Vietnam
Can that be the reason ?
Probably the protectors. I've tried a few different ones in the past few weeks and notice a VERY big difference..

Thats wat I was also thinking but was not sure that whether diffrent protectors can make the diffrence but both was the glossy

What about the screen mode setting? Settings>display>screen mode.
Everything is set up screen on dynamic , power savings off , adjust screen tone off , brightness on high
Still it's bit dimmer and white is on yellowish tone

If this is true than that sucks... I've been comparing the screens of my Note 1 and Note 2 and unfortunately the screen on my Note 1 is sharper and brighter. Videos are more detailed etc. My Note 2 is made in vietnam, I think, because of the manuals inside says "printed in vietnam".
I think I'm going to return my Note 2 as I'm not that happy with the screen quality.
And LOL at the above post. "these things r common in all the devices which includes apple also.". Why do many people always have to use tu-quoque arguments and point at apple?
You can check where your model was made by looking under the battery, on the device.

Best to see on the phone itself.
Mine was made in Vietnam and the screen seems fine to me. I think the differences are down to the grades of glass used.
I had a similar problem with my iPad 3 and apple said that they use different grades of glass that can cause tint/colour problems between devices.

Both the Note 1 and 2 have way better screen than the S2, no argument there! But what I'm talking about is the screen of the Note 2 compared to the Note 1. Even though it's very sharp and good, it's not as sharp and bright as the Note 1.
The difference might not be noticeable for some people who don't care about that or hasn't had them both so they can't compare. But for me it's very noticeable..

Hello XDA!!!
My sister's boyfriend has the Samsung Galaxy SII Sprint Variation and I noticed that his screen was MUCH more vivid than my own screen. Colors were deepers, more saturated and just overall looked more brilliant.
I checked his settings and both of our screen brightnesses were all the way up.
We both opened our facebook applications and the top of the facebook app where there is a blue bar is much darker and saturated and deeper blue than mine.
Has anyone else seen another variation of the screen? I am concerned for my phone as it may be a hardware issue or it isn't calibrated properly or something.
Please discuss/ respond/ help me out.
I Just compared mine to my buddies ATT SGS 2 and the screens look pretty much the same to me..
When i look at the colors compared to my wifes sensation ours looks super nice..

That's odd, it is really bugging me that my screen looks more dull than his (I always have to have the best )
Anyone know of a way to recalibrate colors on the screen? I just restored to stock!

Sprint variant has a color saturation option in their display settings menu. They can set their screen color mode to standard, dynamic, etc. Ours doesn't have that option.
If his was set to a more vivid setting, it would explain the color calibration difference.
Also, our phones use different graphics processing than the Sprint variant, so a comparison doesn't really say much. Galaxy SII is a branding name, the phones are vastly different though.
Is there a way to acquire this option via an app or something?

Nope. It has to do with the Exynos processor in the Sprint/International versions. It was what allowed supercurio to create color calibration tweaks. Our phone has an Adreno 220 gpu and our color profile coding is vastly different.
That difference was part of the reason why Supercurio couldn't complete a quick fix (kernel/app) for color tuning on our device, but could for the Exynos equipped phones.
---------- Post added at 05:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:03 AM ----------
You can use something like Screen Adjuster from the play store, but adding color layers will alter your screens black production (or lack thereof rather) and it will kill your battery.
Here's the app, I wouldn't recommend it though.

Your issue has nothing to with processors. It's the screen itself. Let me guess, yours is manufacturer in Korea right? There's a major thread floating here that discuss this issue alongside the spots, mura, and lines. The batches that are manufactured in China seems to have the improved screen you're looking for. I can bear witness to it myself.

its all a matter of opinion really
I had the note 1, went to the galaxy nexus then now the S3, I saw that while i liked the pen, the screen was large enough for quick things but not large enough to be a really effective pen based device...
so I'll probably get the note 10.1 for a good pen based device vs the smaller screen...
good luck on your decision!

Well It's a definite upgrade from the galaxy s3 for many reasons such as:
- Bigger battery, the note 2 has a 3100mah battery
- Gorgeous display, unlike the s3 the note 2 doesn't use the pentile matrix giving it an improved display
- S pen, some like it some don't but the point is that it's there
- More features, if you watch videos on youtube you will see that the note 2 has more features packed into it that the s3 doesn't, such as multi windows, which is basically true multitasking.
So if you don't mind the bigger screen then I would definitely recommend it.

You do not know what you are talking about lol. Those software feautures can easily be ported to our device and not really an upgrade since that quad core cpu is still using the old technology and as it regards the battery you gotta make a ratio comparison battery size/screen size and then say if it is an upgrade or not.

Well let's go ahead and assume someone ports the features to our phones, that still leaves 3 (possibly more) features that the note 2 has that the galaxy s3 doesn't. If you look online and watch reviews you will hear that the note 2 has amazing battery life even with heavy usage, and you will also find that the display in fact does not use the pentile matrix, therefore it is technically an upgrade from the s3.

They used to say the same when note one came out and battery life sucked. I do not need to read reviews online just go to the note 2 forum and read all complaints about battery life. Well I actually went to the note 2 forum and I did not see any complaints about battery life, I also googled "galaxy note 2 bad battery life" and I did not get any results of a person complaining about battery life so I'm going to go ahead and say based on facts/research the note 2 has good/great battery life. As far as the screen goes it is noticeable, and regardless of whether you notice a difference or not it's there none the less and is technically an upgrade. Look at it this way, if someone were to offer you a galaxy s3 with a screen that didn't use the pentile matrix and had a 2800mah battery would you take it?

I am not taking any phone that does not have a15 cpu. Samsung is very good at marketing. I had note one when came out and it is fun for first week only and then nothing special. I use an anker 4400 and get 9 hrs screen on time heavy usage sp if the choice was cuz of battery life only nah then. The screen yes sucks if you try to read out in the sun or at the beach but i do not think sammy has made any changes to fix that considering all the galaxy line phones historically have had bad screen brightness compared to their competitor htc for example.

- "old cpu technology"
Well it will be coming to the U.S with a exynos processor which is fantastic and benchmarks show that it's faster then our dual core s4 processors.
- "You say got better screen, i say normal user notices no difference."
Again this is your opinion but regardless it is still technically an upgrade to the screen, sort of like the difference between 1080p and 720p, some say it's not noticeable on a display this small but regardless it would still be an improvement.
- "Battery is bigger but does not mean anything cuz screen is bigger too so it spends more juice."
Well based on the fact that I went to the note 2 forums as you suggested and saw no negative posts about battery life I'd say it's definitely better. Not good enough for you, read this: http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-II-Review_id3134/page/4

While this is true, there is currently no port for the note 2 features so it doesn't matter if it's possible because there is currently no port for it.

i'm not with you here.
there are several useful gestures via hovering with the s-pen that would never be replicated on the s3. the note2 is somewhat approaching desktop like functionality and packing it in a device that fits in your pocket.
My only gripe is that it might be too big, I'm loving the s3's size even after getting rid of my note. To say all the note 2 features can be ported over is a joke, and everyone complains about the pentile display. Not to mention the s3s default brightness values are even lower than the note 1. Out of the box the note 2 will have better performance and features. Size is the only thing that would hold people back.
If samsung made a Note 1.5 which would be the same size/design as the S3 packing the same goodies don't really think it would be a contest people would obviously pick the phone with better technology.
No one can make that decision but you. Everyone has their own opinion.

Hello,
1. I have to buy a Note 2 in germany.
I saw in the shops that there seems to be a different type of displays on the Samsung galaxy models. Last week I saw a SG S3 and a Note 2 side by side and the whites on the S3 where much better as on the Note 2. Normally it is the opposite way around?!?
I did not follow up the Note 2 thread on XDA to know if I have to take care of something.
Has there been bad early batches? (SDS or something like that)
2. Is there a big difference if the Note 2 is a EU or a german version? I am going to root the phone.

No bad batches afaik.
SDS is a primaraly a software issue and not hardware originated.
There are 2 kinds of GN2:
1. N7100 with quadcore cpu that supports HSPA+
2. N7105 with dualcore cpu that supports LTE (4g)
Do you something know about the contrast differences?
I cecked the colour rofile settings on both devices and the screen brightness, but these certain S3 had a better display than the Mote 2.
That's due to the high ppi of s3.

Yes exynos platform is somehow very good when it comes to battery life and Amoled has almost unbeatable color saturation.
But...
I'm a long time Samsung user. However Samsung disappointed many of us with its open source policy.
If you're planning to use CyanogenMod roms, stay away from Samsung.
I nearly always use CM or AOSP.
I saw many ROMs of these kind in the developement section. Do they have serious bugs?

Bugs? You misunderstood.
All of them are based on CyanogenMod and at the end they are using the same source code.
CyanogenMod is not/will not be as good as Samsung stock rom due to lack of exynos source codes. CM developers can't do much without them.

Yes I did. I already had a Galaxy in my hands, so I know where the settings are.
For comparison I checked the text on the Settings menu on both devices and looked at the white text on the dark background. The S3 display was much sharper and the text was more white than the N2.
I know other smartphones with different display types (HTC one for example), so I just wanted to know if the galaxy series do have the same "problems".
Are you sure? Just asking because of threads about SDS on N7100.

Well note 3 has more power slightly bigger screen some more features. And is also roughly 300 more dollars. So it is ur call. The OGP is a great phone u won't be dissapointed specially for the money u can buy it. I won't switch to Samsung any time soon. Since the screen is much better on the OGP. i dont think the note 3 is wider than the OGP.. from wat i read and seen, the OGP is wider.
Took out my Lg Optimus G Pro and did a side by side webpage load this Friday at the att store around my house. To my surprise my phone was loading faster than the note 3. Did more test on different pages. Did WiFi and LTE and the same results. Huuuum! The only thing the Note 3 had was a better looking screen. As for games I don't play them. So the Note 3 might be better in this aspect. Pen is a plus. It is thinner to. Better screen. So I decided to keep my phone. As for you, your call!
Screen is preference. Because actually the lg screen is more accurate to colors and not so unreal in colors. Better in direct sunlight is the LG G Pro too. Direct sunlight isn't the friend of amoload screens and Samsung did already better on the note 3 screen but amoload screens are also known from image burnin and shatter box display of blacks when we watching movies. But it got a lot better on the note 3 screen. Also touch wix is pretty laggy. That's why the note 3 seems so laggy.

There's a huge difference in price. The OGP at AT&T is $439, $99 on upgrade. The Note 2 is $574, $199 on upgrade. The Note 3 is $724, $299 on upgrade. I really can't see anything in the Note 2 or 3 that warrants spending that much more money on it.
You also have to consider Samsung's support compared to LG. And we all know that here on XDA, Samsung devices are well supported by devs. It's the happiest place to be in.

Aside from the fact that Jammol stated the obvious.. KNOX. Buzz kill to development.

i hugely doubt that.. the specs of the note 3 are higher than those of the OGP.. aint no way that pages load faster on the OGP.. somethings wrong with ur assessment.

Because actually the lg screen is more accurate to colors and not so unreal in colors. Better in direct sunlight is the LG G Pro too.

the diff in accuracy betweeen the 2 screens is slight.. i checked out the note 3 alomg side the OGP.. the screens looked crisp and identical. and the note 3 looks better on direct sumlight according to a few reviewers.
Sorry i did the comparison at least 10 times with wifi and LTE with a representative of AT&T standing right there. My phone loaded faster than the note 3. Was kind of like "what". I did take the thermal coupling off of my phone. Wondering if that made it faster?

Well it seems u already made up ur mind. Then go with the note 3. No matter what we say from out personal experience u need to make it own choice. Others and I think that the OGP is a great device and there is no need to pay so much more for only a few improvements or some extras that u basically get with software as well. And actually not to worry on how long I have a picture on the screen to not get imagine burn in like u get on a amoled screen is nice too. But u decide for urself. Go with whatever males u happy.

For me personally, I prefer an LCD screen to samoled. True colors and ability to see the screen in the daylight. But to each their own.

well it seems u would go to great lengths to fabricate the performance of the OGP simpky cuz u own it. no matter if the specs of the note 3 exceed those of the OGP, u got ur mind made up. i came here for an unbiased opinion of the diffs btwn the 2 phones. yet, all i see is fanboyism here..
but something u said made no sense.. why? CUZ THE NOTE 3 COMES OUT OCT 1 FOR AT&T.. OCT 2 FOR TMOBILE.. THERES NO POSS WAY U COULDVE COMPARED UR PHONE TO THE NOTE 3 WHEN ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET.. DUHH... NICE TRY BUDDY.
theres WAY too much idiotic fanboyism here that it stinks!

I didn't compare it but already sites like android authority and other did. And they I just stated what they said. And ppl already compared the g2 with the note 3 and again the lg g2 seemed faster. It is just a known fact that touch wiz is somewhat buggy and laggy. It just is what it is. And that amolad screens have not as good direct sunlight visibility and also burnin is a known fact too. Other then that u really just have to see what u like more but also test said that the screen on the g pro and g2 are the best on the market as of now and since the note 3 is based on the s4 the screen won't beat the one of the g pro or g2. But I think u can't go wrong with either of the phones. Just u get more for a small amount of money on the G Pro compared to the note 3. That is double as much on money and only offers a few more things. If really any because both have there advantages and shortcomings.

I just compared my LGOG Pro to a Note 3 in shop......it felt really light to me i don't know maybe the weight distribution......screen is really clear and I had GS3 before so 1080p loked nice...i don't have problem with the colors......the back felt really nice and soft in hand...although the side chrome didn't look very nice to me
also the stylus felt really nice and writing was very accurate and smooth..........i really want to buy it but its too expensive at the moment and i hope it comes down soon also by then we have some really nice support...
also im in South Korea so I did actually use it
Yeah the real thing is that the price differential makes it a deal breaker. If it had been only $150 of difference you could have been suggested to go ahead. $300 is too much you can get 2 brand new nexus 7 2012 models for that or the one New 3g 2013 model $300.

OGP is better because of the price and that is the fact for most people. There is a reason why this thread was created and named LG OG Pro not Samsung Note 3. This is not a place to ask which device is better, people will say OGP is better in this forum because we choose this device over other phone. If you want to find out about comparison you can try website like gsmarena or android authority, in fact there are a lot of youtube videos that does that, simple as that unless you want to start a flame war.

Hi all just purchased the note 10 plus 5g.
The colours on the icons look washed out and not as pin sharp as my note 9 to the point that I'm sending it back.
How do you guys cope with it?
The phone is absolutely drop dead gorgeous but I cant deal with the dpi. Anything I'm missing?
Solution****
Ok I know what it is.
So to prove I was kind of right try this in your note 10 plus.
Go to the app draw and press the menu top right 3 dots.
Then home screen settings and change the home screen grid and apps screen grid to 5x5.
Now the icons are more compressed and give sharper edges as they are less stretched out.
Also under screen mode there is only 2 options on my note 10 which is vivid or natural ( on the note 9 there is adaptive)
Changing to vivid and making the white balance gives richer colour to the washed out icons.
I really thought I was going crazy but I'm glad I've worked it out. It makes the note 10 so much better than the default IMHO.
Let me know
Re u sure, u bought original note 10

Its not matter of putting the full brightness. Use WQHD SCREEN.ITS UNDER DISPLAY SETTING.

Change the color profile to vivid under display settings.
I know everybody is different but I'm gonna have to disagree with that. Note 10 has an Amazing screen better than the last gen in my opinion. Maybe you have some kind of hardware related issue going on or something. IDK just doesn't sound right.
I have both the Note 9 and the 10+, Side by side the Note 10+ has the better display.
As has been said earlier, either you had a knock-off clone or just got a lemon.
I also find after using my Note 10+ the 9 feels slow... Noticeably so, with lots of lag.
If I use the Note 9 exclusively for a few days this goes away so its subjective but the difference is there...

Exactly, you just nailed it!
yeah the base Note 10 does have a worse screen than the Note 9. but the Note 10+ is a better screen. when I switched from my Note 9 to Note 10+ 5G when it launched the 10+ gave better picture quality than the 9. however having seen a standard Note 10 that is actually a downgrade from the Note 9, the Note 9 screen is better than the standard Note 10.
basically the standard Note 10 should have been marketed as a budget model and the + should have been the standard as it is the true upgrade from the 9.
so if you have a Note 10+ the screen should be as clear as the Note 9, the 10+ is about 18PPI lower than the Note 9 due to a larger screen but slightly higher resolution (Note 10+ at 498 Vs Note 9 at 516) so the difference should be negligible at best, by the standpoint unless you are looking at it under magnification it should look identical. the standard note 10 on the other hand is only at 401PPI so it is actually a 20% drop in screen quality and that would be noticeable.
so if you have a 10+ and the screen is noticeably worse I would return it as the device is likely faulty, if you have a standard Note 10 and the screen looks worse the fact is the screen is worse, but then the entire screen and the battery in a standard Note 10 is a downgrade over the Note 9.
Thanks for the replies. I shall try to take a photo of the and do a collage side by side.
