Need help rooting my e4gt with ics and f127 already installed. Need a safe method, not looking for custom kernel or rom at this time, just superuser and possible upgrade later. Thanks.

Hey I'm sorry I'm on mobile right now, someone know where I can get the latest rooted stock rom as flashable zip and not odin? Wanted to see if I could do it now from the phone. The stock sticky thread in development might not seem up to date? If it is I'll just go there, but am not sure so just wanted to ask. Thanks!

Looks like ODIN is it, not sure but I think mobile ODIN works also with the S3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737859, after you flash this, force phone to update to get latest software.

No, youll have to use mskips toolkit or other root methods. Thats a nonrooted stock rom, has to be rerooted, cant just add SU.

I believe that if you purchase the Mobile ODIN Pro app from the market the app will root the stock ROM for you, automatically, as it's being flashed. Here's the link to the dev's (Chainfire) thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899

Is there a way to root my s3 without installing a custom recovery?

I don't think there is since you have to flash a zip file to actually root your system but you can always go back and install your stock recovery after your rooted

You can with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963812, but you won't be able to install any ROMs.
Thanks will look into it

Yes that link will work although i dont think there is a cspire version so youll have to use sprints. That said this will do what your asking as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017470
I was rooted, then used mobile Odin to unroot and went back. I installed the latest update and now need to root again on my mac. It seems the process that worked with ics will not work with the new update? Any advice?

grab the rooted JB ROM for Odin, install virtualbox and windows xp Virtual machine and re-root. There may be an easier way, but this one works for sure.

Suggestion use voodoo OTA root saver. It helped save my root when doing an update.

Anytime. What it does is temp removes root and does a backup. U run ota update and then run and restore root.

Wish I would have found that sooner.. but I was able to use Odin and learn a little there. Every bit counts when trying to get a better understanding of how android works (coming from iPhone)

I just updated my phone through Kies. I would like to have root back obviously, but not sure if that has been posted anywhere.
It is the same as the leak. You could have just stayed...

I was stock rooted ICS before. Didn't see a diff was done.
To get root back can I flash the one from the repository with no data? Or is there a simpler solution

You could always flash a recovery then flash superuser and flash back to stock kernel.

(Sorry if I'm asking a repetitive question.)
Does the leak GB27 match the official GB27 that just came out?
I'm on FL24 stock + root. I don't want to use flash an unrooted FL24, download Kies, update to GB27, then root it.
Wondering if I can just use the One-Click method from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191954
so I can avoid doing all that work and still have the same result.
I'm only asking because I read that GB27 repartitions the storage (or something like that).
I did what you didn't want to do. Some people stated that they are the same but I don't know for sure. I'm having problems accessing the settings and I wanted root back so I just flashed the no data on top of all this. My settings is still messed up and crashes.

I just updated my phone to latest JB as well, I was previously FL24 ICS Stock Root.
Have you figured out if you can use the same Odin Root?

Did you unroot it before updating? Did you just let Kies do it while rooted and had no problems.

Agreed, why update, lose root, or go through any of that headache. A rooted flashable zip will be along in no time.
Thanks guys
