Please help! Today I installed Hamilton’s Adventure THD game. When I launched the app it started to "download assets". It took almost 2 hours to download over WiFi. I have around 24Mbps connection. I thought that's ok because it is a big game. I have played the game, but later I went to sdcard\Android\data to see how big it is, and there was nothing there. The folder in which the files are supposed to be in is empty! I uninstalled the game and installed it back again to see will it download the data files again, but it doesn't. Everything works.
My question is:
1.Where did the app save the downloaded files? They are nowhere to be found.
2.How to erase the downloaded files and how to find them?
3.Is there an app which can help me?
4.Can app modify system phone files and screw something up, and copy files somewhere where I can't see them?
5.If nothing works will a factory reset (hard reset) erase these files where ever they are or not?
My device is NOT rooted.
Thank You in advance for Your help!

Can you offer any additional info? Have to used Root Explorer or a similar app to confirm without a doubt the files are gone and not just in a different place? And I am slightly confused when you say "move to sd card" because internal storage and SDcard on this phone are the same thing since there is no EXT..
I copyed files as usualy from computer to the nexus
After the copy (I copied the new google apps zip) this zip is ont the storage, but all other 12Go of data in the card are disapeared
I try to find it with windows, root explorer, es file explorer, I tryed android undelet tools and windows undelet tools... noone can see the MTP memory of the nexus .......
And I disabled the upload to picasa..

Do you have fast usb charge enabled? If so, try disabling that.
all files in /sdcard disappeared
The same thing just happened to me. I copied 386MB of music to /sdcard/Music and all appeared to be fine. I used Windows7 x64 Explorer over USB mounted as MTP.
I noticed that I could not copy some files back to Windows from Nexus. After messing around with that for a while I used ES File Explorer to check out /sdcard. Only a few folders were there, as if /sdcard were newly created. I could still see all of the lost folders in Windows Explorer.
Am I screwed?
TIA!
This is from a corrupt MediaStore DB. I ran into something similar when moving files to my phone over WiFi using File Explorer. Afterwards only a handful of folders showed up when connected via USB. Only way to fix it is to reset the DB. Settings > Apps > All > Media Storage > Clear data/cache. Reboot. It should completely rebuild the DB after the boot, and things should show up correctly again.

That did not get all my data back, I must have done something else while trying to fix it. The good news is that this fixed one of my next questions: How do I reset the Google Music album art? The suggestion above fixed that wonderfully.
Thanks!
Rooted on stock ICS since release date. I've never had a problem accessing settings for Files folder until today. t989 would freeze upon hitting the setting button while in the Files folder, and a message would later pop up stating, "Unfortunately, Files has stopped." After I've replied with "Ok," second message would pop up stating, "TwLauncher not responding. Would you like to close it?" I can access all my folders in my Files folder, but not my Settings
I've already tried wiping dalvik-cache and reboot with no such luck. I'm wondering if I erased an important data using SD Maid app, cleaning SD card with corpse finder
What is the files folder?

The factory file manager app . Basically, I would access the "setting" in order to show or hide hidden files. Not a huge problem because I can access my hidden files through "Astro File Manager/Browser" app. It just a nuisance knowing that the problem exist I guess
I fixed the problem by clearing the data on the file.
My phone got erased out of nowhere. Does someone know why? This is the second time that it happens. I delete a file from the PC on my phone and then all of a sudden all my files go missing and a bunch of space free. Please help as I'm losing very important documents and pictures.
What file did you delete from the phone?

Just a rom zip file in the root of the sdcard folder.
Already flashed it and had no use for it so I deleted it.
Last time it was a backup of some files. Nothing to do with the system.
All system data is still there just sdcard partition
Hello everyone. Here is a little question... But I will descirbe it in details so hope you guys can read all of it...
Starting from around 24 hours ago, I was repeating this procedure: Delete 2 save files of a game, the directory is "/data/data/com.namcobandaigames.spmoja010/files/Documents" (inside system file, my device is rooted and using ES File Explorer to manage system files), go back to the game and it will generate the two save files, then delete them again. For some reason I need to do...
My question is: can I recover the specific two save files? Let's say the 2 files are named "A.db" and "B.db". 22 hours ago the two files were what I want but I didn't notice that and deleted that accidentially. And after that I kept repeating the "delete -> get into game -> not satisfy and delete -> get into game" procedure, so there maybe 80-100+ A.db and B.db files.
From what I remembered the two files that I want is around 22 hours ago, always in the directory mentioned above. And from my knowledge only deleted files in SD Card and external SD Card can be recovered, system files have little luck.
Hope someone can prove me wrong and teach me how to recover the 2 files back, much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you have turned:- ES File Explorer > Fast Access (side panel) > Tools > Recycle Bin > ON.... The files should be in there.
If you haven't, then I cannot help further......

In ES File Explorer > Tap on Recycle Bin > Press/Hold File (you wish to Restore) > Tap on any others you want to Restore (Tick) > Tap - Restore (Bottom of Screen)..... Files should be restored to original locations..... You should not need other Apps/Programs, ES File Explorer is very powerful, if used correctly.....
I can no longer see files in my internal memory!
They were present when I connected my phone to laptop and copied some files.
There was an empty folder named /storage/emulated/0 inside the original /storage/emulated/0 directory.
As it was empty, I tried deleting it but it was taking a long time so I cancelled the process.
After I disconnected my device, while on ES File Explorer, I discovered that majority of my files weren't showing up. I selected all the files which are displayed and saw their size, a mere 20MB, and the Homepage on ES File Explorer shows usage to be 2.35GB/12.80GB.
Is it some sort of virus that created a seemingly empty folder inside the actual directory? And what about the files that were showing up previously alongside the folder?
I believe that I may have deleted my files when I tried deleting that folder. And why would that folder seem to be empty? Please help me out here!
Not a solution but might help
Well, almost same thing happened to me a few days ago. I too saw that empty folder and couldn't find the files I needed. I too deleted that folder. Except I deleted it completely. After disconnecting I realized that my phone was empty. There was nothing in the internal storage. Finally I realized that it's actually a virtual folder that won't show any files in your pc but that exactly where all your files are. So, NEVER EVER delete that folder.
Never delete dat folder
Android supports multiple user accounts and store their files
Storage/emulated/0
Storage/emulated/1
Etc
Sometimes that folder shows up when u connect to pc, dont know its a bug or not.

I've learnt my lesson.
Anyway, I was able to recover my images by cloning the userdata partition and mounting it on my laptop and running Recuva on it.
Thanks for you responses.
