No you can do in any order...either flash ROM then unlock or unlock then flash ROM....Flashing a ROM will NOT unlock it nor remove the unlock once done. Once unlocked always unlocked.

It is possible to root without flashing kernel.. But if you follow the steps on a XDA topic about how to flash a kernel, it is very easy, even for newbies

If i unlock my phone with serial code generated from imei can i install custom roms for my phone?
No.. You need to root your phone first. Read through the different threads before attempting anything so you don't ruin your phone. I would start with the FAQ.

if i root it i can install roms? Will the lock come back?
Sim unlocking is separate from rooting. It's got nothing to do with it.However, unlocking the boot loader does. Many devices require you to unlock your bootloader to install custom firmware after rooting.

Rooting and installing custom ROMs won't affect your sim unlock.

you obviously have no idea what you're saying/doing. i don't recommend you root or unlock your device, at least until you read and understand what you're doing. jumping in headfirst so fast is not a good idea. nobody wants to possibly end up with such an expensive paperweight.
I wanted to know if I rooted my s3 would it remove my unlock & if its not a touchwiz base rom or if I can flash any rom at all btw I unlocked with the free method

Once your phone is UNLOCKED you cannot remove the unlock by
flashing roms and rooting or unrooting the phone.
You can flash any rom you like and or root or unroot your phone and it will remain UNLOCKED.
A unlocked or locked phone has nothing to do with rooting or flashing roms.
Good luck!
Thank you for the info will be rooting tonight

type this keypad *#*#7378423#*#* and under bootloader see if it is bootloader unlock allowed :"Yes"
if its YES then you can unlock your bootloader bro
Note: Unlocking bootloader makes you loose your warranty but still you can relock it back
You can root your device even if it is Bootloader Locked or Unlocked..
try it out and search in google bro you'd find better solutions than mine :good:

For rooting .42 firmware and below use Zergrush method by Doomlord (file named DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip )
For rooting .62 firmware and above use Eroot (it's in chinese, but is easy to understand)
No need for unlocking bootloader, this is just for root stock firmware

Why would you want to unlock the bootloader? This phone is anyways open and can be easily rooted by pc or even within the phone.
