[Q] Newbie.. I want to root my epic 4g

Im getting my Xoom tablet next week and I cant get any type of free wifi tethering to work with this stock 2.2.2 rom from Sprint. My only option now is root this phone and load a custom ROM.
You guys are the experts.. which Rom or load is going to work best for me. I really only do the following:
- Touchdown (email/exchange)
- gmail
- GPS maps (I like the sprint one actually)
- tether USB rightnow with PDAnet
- pictures to facebook
- facebook
- read the news/web stuff
Thanks fellas!

Lots of good ROMs out there. The first post on each one tells you the features and install instructions.

I am pretty sure that you would enjoy the epic experience ROM. It really is awesome.

[Q] so overwhelmed, please help

Ok I just got my new t-mobile galaxy s2 on they're sale yesterday. I haven't hadan Android phone in like a year.so I have some general questions.
What are some of the more popular roms for this phone?
Are there any issues I should be aware of when rooting and installing cwm and a ROM?
Are there any general problems I should be aware of with this phone overall?
Thank you very much for the help.
Juggernaut and Macnut are great roms, I prefer stock though. You should give those a try.. As far as issues, the only thing is the vertical lines and blobs on the display when you turn the brightness all the way down. You can see it on most Grey backgrounds in a low light environment.

there is a ton of info in the index and its a good place to start. If you have a specific question search for it. chances are someone has asked it before.
My favorite rom is digital warfare. but check them all out and happy flashing!

NO Hidden menu access on Custom ROMs

Any convenient workarounds to this dilemmas?
Can anyone point me toward a method that doesn't involve dual booting or returning to stoci?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
if your talking about dialer codes, which hidden menu are you trying to access. there are other ways to get to some settings, but not all of them.
You should be more specific about what you are trying to do and what ROM you are on. Dialer codes work fine on custom Touchwiz ROMs.

You really should search first but I suspect this link will help you get to what you want. If you don't want to do this please be more specific.
A way more spacific related qustion, (sorry for the old bump)
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I have a more specific qustion then the op that relates way too much to this to post a new thread, I did try searching, but I need a specific menu, so let me tell you all the details,
First of all Im using the Att note 2 i317
Secondly, I'm using the Vanilla root-box Nightly ROM latest version (update each nightly release)
I need to access the USB I2C Mode control witch would generally be the code *#7284# if I was on my stock ROM
I have sent bajee a message, however Im posting it here as well because this is clearly the same qustion and bajee still hasn't answered me, I do realize hes a busy man witch is why I'm keeping my options open and posting here as well, If anyone has any advice please do tell, thank you
We can't offer much help here. Try posting in the att note 2 q & a section. But to my understanding roms built from source cannot get dialer codes you would probably need to revert to stock but again this is not the device forum for your phone so we can't help much

Need a hotspot app

Need a bit of help..... I rooted my phone and now I'm trying to get my phone as a hotspot. Problem is... Every app I tried to use in the app store doesn't work. And if I can get one to work, I can't get any devices to find my phone hotspot.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong section..... I'm a noob to the rooting process and to this site
You can find that info in the Sprint Galaxy S3 FAQ.
You haven't searched.

There's plenty of answers on search. Also read the freaking threads before posting. You will find answers faster than it will take to post question

Now, depending on what software your on, crawjr over in the dev section has came up with zip files to allow use of the native stock tethering app. Im on the MD4 software right now and I use the native hotspot all the time.
All you have to do is zip it using CWM or TWRP...easy as that.
here is the link:

Need help finding a ROM.

As the title says, I need some help. I have scoured the web for hours with no luck. I'm searching for the most stable or at least very usable Gingerbread version of MIUI. There are numerous links but the files have been removed. I have a friend wanting to run it, and I wouldn't mind playing around with it some more, but my SD that I had all of my roms on killed over. If anyone knows where I can find this please let me know. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
