How can I go about doing this? I've tried deleting the stock Mms.apk and replacing it the stock ICS Mms.apk, then deleting dalvik and cache, but the app would freeze.
Search in market and disable the default touchwiz mms

No, look. Download the messaging apk you want. Copy it. (probably not needed but cover yo ass is my standard) now use root explorer to delete the stock messanger. Then place your app in the system/app folder. Go to it there and open it. Install it. (hit yes when it says replace if it does.) probably dont need to but reboot your phone after that. Just make you feel like you made a big move. Then open your messenger. If it dont work pm me. If it does then thanks are in order!! happy texting!

Good luck with that. I've tried for days to do that. Some you can just rename them in root explorer. Some won't work if you do. I've torn apart apks and can't find it any place.

Where do you guys get that option just tried in two diff apps to open a pic, and it just says gallery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Install root explorer or ES explorer. It will give you the option to open files with these programs. Once you have them you can also use root access to apps for adjustments to the files.

one spot you can change the name is /res/values/strings.xml another is in the android manifest but it needs to be decompiled.
Yikes. Guess I'll live with it. Thanks folks

For ringtones, it's easier for file system to find it if you place is in system/media/ringtones
I've always just used Audiko for all my ringtones/notifications (even when I was on iPhone). There's an apk for it around, but I can't remember offhand if it's in the Play Store or not....

Their site (audiko.net) lets you upload songs into their vast database, clip them into ringtones, and send them to your phone formatted for whichever type of mobile you use (iPhone or Android). You can also access any ringtones you've added via your phone and download them to your pc, for whatever reason. It automatically creates a username (your gmail address) and emails a randomly-generated password to you so you can log in to the website if you want. If you were to 'sign up' via the website you could also link it with facebook or another email address instead of gmail, and on iPhone it would use your Apple ID.
It's not the greatest system, and it would be nice if it let you choose whether or not to create an account (since you can do everything their site does from your phone via other apps), but I've been using it for 4 years and can assure you it's nothing malicious. (even though the website does look rather sketchy lol).
I use it because I can pull up pretty much any song I can imagine and have it set as a ringtone in a matter of seconds, but if you know of or happen to come across anything comparable, please share!
Cheers!
Any one found one that works?

You could always just use any file explorer and go to sdcard and create a folder with a period front it's name. Instead of a folder named naughty_pix u would make it .naughty_pix. And then it should be hidden from any gallery app. That's how I do it on kk.

Hide it Pro stops functioning in Android 4.4 You don't lose anything, but can no longer add files to it.

Made this and If the file doesn't flash you might have us root explorer and push the duke manually. Just rename your current one to flashbarservices.all.bak then move new one over and rename it to flashbarservicrs.all then fix permissions and reboot

Thanks, I tried this last night. It didn't work 100%. When trying to open 2 apps at once the screen went blank, or froze up. So went back to stock. Thanks for the info though, I appreciate your help.
