Server - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Could someone tell me what I can do with this
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Hi folks is there anyone on here that can answer my question. Tried all different searches and cannot find an answer on here or on the web. Even a link to somewhere that can tell me what this server is for.

Up we go

Um... insufficient information? Where did you get the image? What's the make/model?
Servers are used to provide different network services, such as file storage/sharing, web browsing, issuing IP addresses, resolving Internet names to IP addresses, etc.

Thank you for the reply. It's in settings> accounts> then the icon is in there. The phone is stock. UK. GT-N7100 you need to click on add account. Thanks.

Stock email app to work with school exchange email?

It doesn't work with my schools exchange account, does anyone know why please?
Also if it can't be fixed can someone please suggest a replacement?
Thanks

Refer the exchange thread in Q&A. There is a problem with Samsung's servers right now, and apparently exchange traffic needs to pass through them at least once for activation.

this seems to have been sorted now.

Best VOIP solution

Does anyone have any suggestions for VOIP calls on the evo?
I'd like to have some sort of google voice integration with it if possible. I visit a few places with no cell signal that do have wifi access. Anyone used any good span services for this?
Pardon my lack of thorough searching... this xda app doesn't seem to lend itself to searching very well...

You can always use Google to search for answers, then tag xda at the end. It is easier than using the native search function

P.S. use Groove IP

I use "site:xda-developers.com (search criteria)" in Google to search xda instead of the native search app.

(Q) people app, joining own entry to Google account?

Would like to know if I can join my own entry in the people app right at the very top of the list to add a picture and contact info from my google account. I find it a little untidy and annoying I can't seem to find an option to do this.

It would be nice to do indeed. Don't know how though. Still waiting for the phone to arrive.
It should just do it automatically. I didn't have to do anything for it to link mine up.

Voice search, wrong location

Hey XDA
I'm located in Denmark, and i'm a great fan of the voice search thing.
However, when i ask about weather, it always comes up with the weather in Washington, unless i ask specific for Denmark (which is quite large)
Imo it should just give me weather for my current location..
Anyone know how to change this?

Perhaps a silly question : Is your GPS on?

Try going to settings, then Privacy and Accounts, and make sure the "search on Google.com" box is unchecked. This way your local Google site will be used instead. Worked for me

Email Attachments

I recently added my work email to my phone. Since then I have received emails with attachments that I am unable to download because the file size is too large. Is there a fix for this? Maybe a setting somewhere that I'm missing? :banghead:

Are you using ActiveSync (Exchange) or are you using POP/IMAP?
If you are Using ActiveSync, are they pushing out policies to your phone? If so, they may have a limit on the size of the attachments that you can open from the phone.
I'm using exchange but there were no policy push to the phone.

Try downloading from the website if they have one instead of the app.
There is a setting on the email app that limits the max size email it will download. Change it to "all".

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with work email (exchange activesync) when I try to open larger PDF file say 12mb I get an error message that says "Unable to download. File size too large". This is not a compromise for me as I constantly was PDF with work and a lot of them can be quite large. I switched from iPhone 7 hate to admit but it had no problem opening these PDF's. Also, I have tried just about every other popular email app with no luck. PLEASE HELP so I don't have to switch back to iPhone.
