Just got this phone for my wife and decided to root it for her. I have the note ii and had no problem with mine using the same method. I used the Samsung galaxy 3 toolkit v2.3.0. Chose option 2 for sprint and then option 2 rooting options. Then # 3 all in one. I already had the drivers on the pc and the phone was set for usb debugging. THe software flashed the phone but when it came back up I get the "samsung" boot screen then the sound of it booting up. The only problem it is a black screen with a blue led light. Thats it, tried to reboot into recovery and download mode but there is nothing there. just reboots to black screen. Now I do have one of those jtag usb ends I have order just in case I needed it and I can boot it into download mode and I can use odin but I have no idea what I need to do to "fix" it. Tried to use the recovery option in the toolbox but that didnt work. Also tried team epic's root tar file but that didnt work either and I am out of ideas. The only thing I know is my wife is going to kill me if I can't get this fixed.
Please help!
ps...since this phone is one day old if i cant fix it I would like to take it back to sprint for another one but I need some way to reset the counter using the download method only or I am hosed.

I dont have my Galaxy S3 yet, but it sounds like all you would need is to flash a stock rom through odin. Look in the android development sub-forum and find a stock odinable rom.
I'm with the above poster. Try an odin repair.
And let this be a lesson to you. Don't mess with the wifey's toys, Murphy's law will bite you every time and she'll remember "forever" and dredge it up when you least expect it.
I hate Murphy's law...but you are so right.
I went to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774722
and downloaded SPR Image (JB 4.1.1) and it installed bootloader, system etc (the works) and when I rebooted it worked. I still don't have CWM and I dont even know if i have root BUT it works and I am now out of the doghouse! Thanks for all the help and if you think of anything else I need to know please tell me and thanks again...
PS.. installed goomanager and was able to get TWRP so the phone is rooted. next is the rom toolbox so I can back everything up!

Okay, I tried to take the easy route to get my phone rooted and over clocked. I should also mention i'm on US T-mo
I was able to gain route via samsung toolkit. I searched around for an easy overclock method. I searched and found a youtube vid for Perseus and ended up using alpha 11 as linked in the video via Odin. Shortly after the task was completed, my phone attempted to restart. However, it was only a black screen although I did hear a vibrate. I quickly searched around and tried flashing Perseus's newer alpha20. Still same thing. I have no clue what I'm doing at this point and fear I have bricked my phone.
I can access download mode as well as custom recovery. But I don't know what to do at this point. Help please! I need my phone to work tomorrow for work! ack! I just got this phone 2 days ago. =(
I've tried wiping data/factory reset through custom recovery. Nothing. I've really screwed this one up. Is there something I can download and flash through Odin? Seems like I can only get in download mode and recovery mode which is pretty useless.
Why don't you flash mrRobinson's LH2 w/root through Odin and you should be good to go.
Good luck at work today btw.
Wood! Nice to see you around here. <3
Hi, did you manage to fix your phone? Last night I did kernel update on my samsung n7000 and after update via Odin>PDA option> loding PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSC-XJB-3.99.tar.md5.tar> and push start, my phone restarted and instead android OS get black screen with no sound. Display still work for download mode and battery charging.
So I've torn apart the forums trying to find something to solve this problem to no avail for the SGS3's. To explain whats going on with the phone the phone will go into download mode it will go into recovery i used Team Epics Sprint SGS3 Stock Restore i would include link but as me being a new member I'm not privileged to that ability. I used Odin3 v3.07 which is the only thing so far as i can tell contributed to the problem. The Phone rebooted before it went to pass and the box turned blue and said reset. but now if i just try to regularly power up the phone the Samsung and SGS3 splashes show the phone then does the sound for the Sprint splash but the screen for it is totally shut off not even back lit and the led pluses blue and stays there.
Just would like to know if anyone has experienced this problem and if so knows how to fix it or can atleast get me pointed in the right direction
So do you still have a custom recovery? It sounds like somewhere along the way the stock rom wasn't restored completely/properly
Try rooting again by using Team Epics root from recovery or some any other method you're comfortable with and flash the stock restore again
Or just directly try doing the stock restore once again, but search and make sure the version of ODIN you're using is the most recent

Like CNexus said, the stock tar might not have been completely installed, possibly the boot file as that was my case, so try it again. You are free to use your file but the stock tar that I've used previously that worked for me can be found at http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...-30-2012-sprint-only-unroot-return-stock.html
Thanks for the infos guys im not sure if that was the situation or not... i went back to odin 3.04 so it would fully flash before autobooting and i used the files directly from Samsung and got it working just fine.. it was my hail marry thankfully it worked.
So I have an Att Note 2, which is bricked or soft bricked. I am a very rookie Android guy when it comes to modifying or hacking. I did root my Note 2 with Cyanogenmod. However, I missed S Note and the use of my S Pen so I researched a bit to get back to stock with the use of Odin and stock roms found on the net. I was successful, and actually amazed it worked. Long story short, a few days after that, an OTA update hit my phone, didn't even think about it and began the download. The phone downloaded the update, and rebooted to complete the install. The problem is, during reboot, the phone got stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen. I researched a bit online, and everyone said get to recovery mode and do a few things. Problem is, I can't get into recovery mode, I can only get the screen described above, and the download screen, THAT IS ALL. Looked a bit more online and attempted to flash various stock roms with Odin. Some were successful, Odin passed, and the phone would get stuck on the Note II screen again, and would not boot into recovery mode, same issue with only being able to access download mode. The unsuccessful flash attempts got me to screen informing me that Kies needs to be used to update my firmware. Kies showed a recovery code, which was downloaded, but unsuccessful. It would download all the way, but at the end of install, it would fail. Funny thing is it would work enough to get me back to the ability to get into download mode. I just want my Note 2 working again. Is there any way to wipe my phone completely clean, and start over? Or is there any way to even re-root it, or flash any sort of rom on there, just so I can use the damn thing? I need some help by you pros out there ! Please!

Try flashing a recovery for ur device with Odin, not a ROM, just flash twrp recovery with Odin, after u flash the recovery u will be able to access recovery and flash a stock ROM through twrp. I think what happened to u is when u flashed the update it tried to right over the unlocked bootloader which caused the soft brick, try flashing the recovery for ur device and if that doesn't work try the above posters way...

Hello Everyone,
Just a brief explanation, till 1 month ago I have been always using iOS devices, then I didnt like the new iPhone and decided to go to Samsung, since I like their design. First of all three weeks ago, I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo LTE (I guess it is LTE since it has LTE capabilites, and it is SM-N7505 European Model.). I didnt buy it thru a carrier, paid the full price so it is unlocked..etc. I loved it, every detail, and heard that Rooting let's you have more personalising options and more. I was going to buy the Note 4 so till I bought it I didnt want to mess around with it, two days ago bought the Note 4, no matter how much I like it, I hate the UI of the 4.4.4, looks ugly compared to the one I had in Note 3 Neo, I like the black interface. So I wanted to go to Root way to personalise it, but wanted to try it first on my Note 3 Neo.
Long story short, I've rooted it successfuly thru, then downloaded the Xposed Modules..etc but before installing anything, decided to use an alternative Recovery Software, to make a backup of my stock rom. I downloaded TWRP, the .tar version for the model of my phone to do thru odin (if i am not wrong hlltexx), I installed it thru Odin, again ''succesfuly'' without any errors..etc but after the installation, when I wanted to check, to see if i installed it correctly, tried to go on recovery mode by holding the volume up + home button + power button , I see only the samsung logo, and nothing happens. After making some research I named the problem, boot loop, or it is called soft brick I guess. The phone works perfectly, still goes on downloading mode, or when I start it I can boot it perfectly and use like I used to use, but whenever I want to try the recovery mode, it doesnt boot.
So I decided that I dont like those problems and that I'd rather unroot, go back, I found and downloaded the stock rom from internet, but I am not able to find the stock recovery for my phone model no matter how hard I searched. How can I fix this? IF I cant, and If i bring it to Samsung, would they fix it for me if i accept to pay for it? or they would just refuse to do it because I did something that I am not supposed to do ? I will be very glad if any of you can show me the way.
Thank you very much for your patience,
Garo
so.. your phone works but you can't acces the recovery ? if so flash a custom one

Install last firmware for n7505 and flash with odin.
Your warranty is goes out
1.Flash with odin note 3 lte 4.4.2 sw , setting all
2.Flash with odin root mobile phone reboot off again
3.Flash with odin twrp, start supersu option need twrp-cwm then you can start recovery mode.:good:
Thank You very much for your replies,
@nick99n : Yes actualy that's my biggest problem, I tried installing TSWRP several times, the one for the version of my phone (hlltexx) , and it always ends up in bootloop no matter what I do, and Cwm is not supported on my device, so I am not able to install that one to replace my 'broken-recovery' and I am not able to go back to the stock recovery since I am not able to find it on internet.
@Mr.Bola and @ntt : I will flash the stock firmware but before doing that, I want to fix the recovery mode, in case I have a problem during the firmware installation, but I have no clue how to fix that.
Can not you into download mode? Voldown+Home+Power ???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56057629&postcount=97
@ntt : You saved my life! I dont know what was the difference of the file, but also I used Odin v3.09 instead of 3.07 and now it goes into recovery mode without any problem! thank you so much! I didnt use anything in recovery mode yet, since I dont know it very well yet, but it doesnt go into bootloop anymore! thank you very much! :good:
hi,
so i just got my s6 edge for sprint shipped to me (it wasn't activated to any service when i got it). here is the order of events i took:
1) tried to activate my service, but there was a delay in porting the #
2) while waiting for them to port it, i rooted it, installed twrp and a rom (this was when it was on 5.0.2)
3) they called and said they were ready to port, but the new rom didn't have the activation software in it. so i stalled them and said i would call back. i then reverted back to stock using odin.
4) got the number ported and was fine using the phone at that point.
5) this is where the day turned bad...... i didn't realize that coincidentally today, a new firmware was released to 5.1.1 and the phone auto-updated to it while i wasn't looking
6) i went to go re-root it using the same 5.02 root and now my phone is stuck. it's sitting on the "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Powered by Android" screen and in the top left in red it says "RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING"
7) i tried to restore it back to the stock using odin, but it errored in the download mode (i don't remember the error off hand)
i can get into download mode, and that's about it. i had to let the phone's battery die on it's own to turn it off (this phone gets super hot, btw)
so i guess what i need to know is how to restore back to factory default again, now that it thinks it's on 5.1.1. is there any hope?
I'm in the same boat as you, I think the only hope is to wait until the firmware is available to download and install it via Odin. Let me know if you've had any luck getting it up and running again. I had to switch back to my old phone for the time being.

check this post, download the tar and flash it in odin. it worked for my phone!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61650724&postcount=142
it got me into a recovery image that worked and i was able to factory reset in there. my phone is booting properly now. (after it reboots when done, it took a bit on the first title screen to do anything, just be patient)
Thanks man, that worked great. Although I found out in the process of trying to fix it the past few days, I must have flashed a non-compatible kernel because once it boots the touch screen is unresponsive. I guess I'll have to wait until the firmware download is available after all. Thanks again for the help though
