[Q] "Unable to save. Not enough memory" - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm trying to download an email attachment (6mb) in the stock email program.
I get the error message...
"Unable to save. Not enough memory"
BUT I have over 7gb of empty memory.
What should I do?

Where is ypur 7GBs? In internal or external SD. Email probably uses internal so if it is almost full you might need to free some space by mocing things to external or using an app like directory bind

I'm NOT on a custom rom. I'm on the stock Tmobile rom for the Note 2.
I'm also using the stock email program.
It doesn't give me the ERROR message when downloading small attachments (250kb). BUT when I try downloading a 7mb attachment...I get an ERROR??

i have the same exact problem... can anyone help me?? i have rooted n7100 on stock ROM... pls.. tnx

anyone?

I dont know if this will help you but I downloaded something off the market and deleted it well I tried to install it again and it kept saying that I was out memory.what i did was download root explorer and go to data then app and then find the program that you was trying to download and erase it

Try downloading link2sd from the play store. In settings try changing the storage location this solved the problem for me

With Root Explorer, check the size of your free space in /data folder. Check the /system folder as well
Wouldn't hurt to clear cache.
Also, in Settings, appliations, how much storage does the mail app say it is using?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2

i downloaded link2sd and it cant change the storage for email to sd... i cleared the cache and deleted the accounts also later and it still cant save the attachment that is 8mb in size... the email itself uses 27mb...

Got the same problem,
Note 2, LTE.
attachment >12MB: unable to save

I had the same issue & I was unable to download email attachments. Problem came after root Note Edge 915G
Please check below solution which worked for me. post #272
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...s-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993/page28
1.) Turn phone off.
2.) Power + Home + Volume Up.
3.) Go to install the SD Card fix (File you were asked to store on phone with SuperU)
4.) Install, after installing clear cache/Davink
5.)Install that same file again after & reboot. Should solve the email issue.

[Q] Android Revolution - basic question

Hello
Please forgive any non-tech language.
Please help - my recently-ex-boyfriend hacked my new phone and it now has Android Revolution on it.
I keep running out of space even though I don't have much on it - and looking at the storage in Settings, it seems that Android Revolution (542 MB) and Flash Boot (4.83MB) is taking up some of the space that I could do with freeing up.
Can I just delete them? Will everything still work?
I assume this is the case but could do with confirmation just in case it does anything to the phone that I can't undo.
He would help, but I don't like to ask.
So I'm relying on you guys - as he asked for help here when he messed up the hack in the first place!
Thanks in advance.

That is what gives you the root. So yeah update that through the market..
And welcome
There may be another reason why you don't have so much space. There are a few threads on here about the disk losing a whole bunch of it's 25GB for different reasons. the .lost folder being one of them.
Aargh, really?
Yes, it does seem bonkers to me. I've gone through and deleted music I don't listen to. I only have one or two episodes of t.v. on there and it's saying 'no space' all the time. Is there anything I can do without roping him back in?
How do I diagnose what the space problem is? What will I see in .Lost?
And then what do I do to fix it?
You're going to regret helping me as I am a real novice...
Thanks so much!
E
Grab an app called "Titanium Backup" from the market, besides its utility as a backup tool it will give you visual and numeric summaries of how much space you have left on your System, Internal storage and SD card. Where is it saying that you are running out of space though?
If it is displaying that message when you are trying to install apps then it is likely that the market is a little broken, this can be fixed easily with titanium backup (you just clear all the market "links" and then use an option called "Market Doctor" to restore the correct links. (I remember reading that this can be a permissions problem too and using the "fix permissions" option from Clockwork can also fix, I haven't tried it although it cant do any harm)
From the sounds of it your SD card should have a ton of free space...
I assume this is on your internal sdcard? Or RAM? Where your applications go? If its your ram, then delete some of the applications you have installed. If its your internal SD card then try deleting the application data that applications download automatically. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm SD Maid system cleaner, it essentially does what I previously proposed for you.

Ummmm
I think it's the internal SD card.
Specifically: I am using ADownloader and whenever I try to download something now it says there is no space (despite frantic deleting on my part).
And I have a calendar app which this morning was telling me it couldn't update data as there was no space on the device.
I'll try what you suggest and if there is an error message, I'll make a note and let you know exactly what it says.
Thanks, again.

Stuart, storage is not RAM.
As I said earlier it sounds like your internal storage is full. Please give figures of capacity&used for:
Internal Storage
ROM
SDCARD
okay...
25.85 G capacity
25.06 G used
Free 791.81 M
13.42 G is music which is surely not much and 9% is Adownloader.
Help!
What next?
E
Installed Titanium Backup but it says:
"could not acquire root privileges.
Please verify that you ROM is rooted and incluces BusyBox and try again.
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command."
I thought that Android Revolution meant that he had rooted it??
(if that's the right vocabulary I'm using....).
E
Ah except that under the error message it says:
System ROM 1.32GB (518 MB free)
Internal 2.26 GB (426 MB Free)
SD card 27.1 GB (830 MB free)
Does that help?
E
Can you take a few screen shots of the SD usage? I should have a good understanding of what needs to be deleted. Or you can wipe your SD card and transfer your music over once that's done?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Okay I've done some searching and it seems that the best thing you can do is make a copy of your SD card on to your PC and then wipe it and transfer the data back. This seems to be a problem, but will most likely be fixed with a future update.

I am trying to take screen shots as per the instructions but need a signal to get the auto-upload to work so that I can get them from phone onto here.
But, in summary, most of the 25 GB is music (67.9%).
E
Hi. Sorry, but how do I transfer the contents of the SD onto my computer?
I can connect using the cable and then... just drag and drop all the files?
And then... what do I do to wipe it on the phone and restore it?
Told you I was a non-teccie person!
Thanks,
E
Yup just drag and drop. Go to storage and then erase phone storage.

[Q] Zinio?

Is anyone using Zinio with their A100? If so, how do you manage your memory? I need to free up some memory or move it to the SD card but do not know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
You might want to take a look at the SD mount swap by crossix. It mounts your SD card as internal, so if you have a 32gb card you get 32gb internal storage. Well after formatting and android taking space its like 29gb but you get my point. Here's a screenshot of it running on mine, note internal storage.

Yeah it seems to be tricky for some people to get going. I'll assume you use an Acer based ICS and not CM9 like I used for my screenshot, but download the zip, extract the install-recovery.sh file, paste it into /system/etc so it looks like /system/etc/install-recovery.sh then set permissions, uncheck every box, save. Re open permissions and set it to
XXX
XXX
XXO
Save.
Reboot, wait a minute. Like seriously a minute, not a few seconds. Then check storage. Depending what file manager you use you will have to mount system as writable, in root explorer its a R/W button up top, in ES file manager its in settings, check root explorer, allow root, mount system as writable check box. Others may be different but I've uses those two and it works.
If you use CM9 its different, but I can walk you through that method as well.

You could manually move the files from /sdcard/com.zinio.mobile.android.reader to /mnt/external_sd, but when you try to access the magazine again from Zinio it will redownload the files to the original location. If you do not have an available internet connection, then the pages will display as all black. There is not a single file that you can select to open the magazine in Zinio, the magazine is downloaded as seperate apdfs, jpgs, and html files.
Thanks, I tried it again, and I still cannot get it to work, maybe I'm an idiot...

Unfortunately it is completely impossible. It appears that Google has revoked access permission that use to allow 3rd party apps to write to the external SD card. You can see this link here for more information: http://www.chainfire.eu/articles/113/Is_Google_blocking_apps_writing_to_SD_cards_/
Generally you would want apps installed on the internal memory due to higher read write speeds. This would allow apps to run smoother and faster. Even if it were possible to move apps to the external card, I wouldn't advise it for certain kinds of apps, like games, this would only hinder the performance.

Have you researched/seem anything about this in the cm10.x thread? Have you tried reflashing the rom? Did you have this experience in a previous rom?
If you can't locate a fix in the thread, I would make a nandroid, do a full wipe and flash the rom again (or try a different rom)

The easiest and fastest way is to install GooManager from the play store. Once done, grant it SU, press menu and select "install open recovery script" and your done. takes maybe 30 seconds depending on DL speed. Wait for the toast message stating its been installed. Once you reboot to recovery you will have TWRP. Delete your CWM folders to clear up the space afterwards.
I've never flashed a recovery via another recovery so I don't know how or if that's possible. I either dd in terminal, Odin or use GooManager.
On a side note I found this, which may be useful to you. The trade up is you would need to be on Touchwiz with a kernel that has init.d support. Take a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849861
There would also be a decrease in performance since SD cards can't read/write as fast as internal memory can. also, unless you have a 32gb or 64gb card then the mod is useless.

Official Wipe and Erase Help?

This is a weird question- So I factory erased my phone. No problem. I also booted into recovery Clockwork recovery on my S3 by ATT to wipe data hoping this would clear and wipe everything from my phone.
It did not.
So as I'm searching threads how can I clear my phone including the internal storage? Every time I've wiped my phone all the files including downloads, pictures, come right back... How is this possible???
Yes I am rooted but I'm not running any special ROMS.
So how can I fully clear my phone so it's 100% wiped?
Silly question I know...
**I should also mention that I know my files are not on the SD card* I'm not that stupid..LOL

Im running Quantum V3, 4.4.1 KitKat on AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3. Last night I played around with phone, unmounted SD card cuz I needed to check my battery drainage. After I remounted it, ESfile explorer says that sdcard1 has "Invalid path". Even tho in settings > storage, it shows that there is sd card and how much space there's left on it...
I did a clean flash of the ROM before if that matters. I don't wanna reflash it and arrange all the apps all over again...
Also when I check the sd card through the app folders, aka in storage/sdcard1, it shows files and everything. What could be the issue that I cant get it to work?

Probably one of the bugs with the latest update by PwnCakes. Maybe you didn't unmount properly, or try formatting the sd card and plug it in again?
I have the same exact thing.
Sigh, at least I'm not alone xD
And I didn't try formatting, got 27 gig stuff on my SD card and unfortunately no space on HDD to copy all the stuff :/
Shame I ain't got enough posts to reply in PwnCakes thread...
I think it might actually be a bug within the rom itself OR ES file explorer. I had this bug since I think a few releases ago
I have the exact same problem. Under "device", i have two copies of extSDcard. I also get the "invalid path" when i tap on sdcard1. I guess i'll wait for a fix, as i don't want to uninstall ES File Explorer, and reinstall, just to lose everything.

I will post my workaround for ES when I get to my computer. It will basically circumvent the error to make it usable. Just keep and eye on this post, I'll edit it in.

Temporary ES File Explorer Workaround for SD Card and Ext SD Card
Sorry it took so long. Just got done finals and had to get the bus. Below is the settings that you guys can use to make it almost as if nothing was wrong with ES.
Set your directory settings for Home to the External SD Card
Change the default window settings to the following: Sdcard, Home, whatever else you want loaded AFTER these
This will make it so that the first loaded 'window' of ES is the device's internal memory. Then it will load the external SD card as the second 'window'. As long as you check it in the proper order, it will load just fine.

That does work indeed... Thanks!
Followed directions, and i get LAN with a blank page, then i still have to tap on the top of the app, and go into the directory to find sd card, and ext sd card(which used to be sd card1. What would happen if i wiped data on ES File Explorer, deleted the app, and then reinstalled it? Thanks for any help.

Idk how you got LAN. Uncheck all of the windows then select them in the order I provided. Also make sure home directory is set to your external SD card at whatever path it is. Also can you provide a screenshot?

O.K.,now. LAN was checked, in windows settings, but i didn't see it. If the problem is ES File Explorer, will it be fixed in the next upgrade? I've never had this problem with my other roms. Thanks for the help.:good:

I'll be honest with you. I check play d store almost daily to see if there is anything new with ES. I don't know. It might be a problem with the selinux transition from 4.3 to 4.4. It could be a million things but I think its just some back end code for the file system. :/

Right, so in your opinion, wiping & uninstalling, then reinstalling would just bring back the same problem?

Just found FX File Explorer. It works perfectly, and also has a "dark theme", which i like. There's a root access add-on with it, also for free, but it's telling me to grant it root access using my installed "SuperUser" app. How do i do that with that app? Thanks, again for all your help.:good:

Super user should pop up a prompt if you're rooted. Also, I know the error that breaks ES but idk how to fix it myself. Is a problem with permissions.xml

I get the prompt, but it keeps being denied by SU, however, it goes into Titanium Backup. I'm wondering if i really need root access. I don't think that i have it with ES File Explorer.

@grunt0300 if you really want, I can take a look into the permission.xml. however, no way I am making the commits to my device at the moment. All I know (without looking up the exact wording) is that in permissions.xml is a line for read external storage and that line is set to media/mnt/sdcard instead of storage/sdcard1.
