When my device goes to sleep it never wakes up. I have to keep rebooting it to get the screen on again. I am on cm 10 stable release and stock cm kernel. Any suggestions on to fix this?
Try a new kernel.

Will see how it goes. I hope it isn't cm because I prefer it over everything else.
A new kernel did absolutely nothing. It still is unresponsive every thine the device locks. All I did was root, install cwm from ROM manager, and install cm, then install ktoon k747 kernel. Is there something wrong with my device?
Go back to stock via Odin. If issue gone then its cm, try a diff rom. If issue still there then device.

I tried loading a couple Jelly Bean roms for my Verizon GNex.
It's unlocked and everything and it was on 4.0.4 Build IMM76K with superuser and CWM recovery. The whole deal.
I ran recovery and tried to load these 2 ROMS, 2 seperate times starting from a fresh 4.0.4 build each time:
BAMF you jelly v1.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744389
and
Team Liquid Vicious-toro V3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738018
Someone suggested to try a different kernel, but I'm not sure what that means.
What should I do?
are you using the touch recovery?
Did you WIPE DATA first?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Try Team Vicious's again, and be patient. I remember when I first flashed V1 I waited about 2-5 minutes before it brought me to the welcome screen. The Kernel that comes with Vicious is fine, although I've been using Faux's Kernel and am LOVING it.
You can flash kernels the same way you flash ROMs, as long as it is in a ZIP file, you are good to go. Just make sure it is compatible with Jelly Bean.
Let me know what method you are using to flash ROMs and I will try to be more detailed if needed.
Yes I am using the touch recovery. Am I not suppose to?

its been known to have issues. use the regular cwm
Did you fix permissions?
What loading screen? Google screen or boot animation?
Jeez, people need to search for real, like 3 threads on this already. Why don't you ask over in respective rom thread? Better yet, I don't believe bamf or vicious devs would release a rom without making sure it boots.

GNex stuck at Jelly Bean ROMs boot animation loading screen
I'm in a similar situation. After I flashed my Verizon GNex to Vicious Jelly Bean V3 everything seemed fine. So I decided to try my luck at flashing a theme as well. The phone is stuck on an endless JellyBean animation screen. My laptop no longer recognizes the Samsung drivers ie. they won't load, so I have no way to talk to this thing. I've tried to initiate recovery mode on the phone and it won't work either. Anybody know something I could try? I'm obviously new at this so any help would be appreciated.
Same problem over here with a friends Gnex. Same JB that installs and boots fine on my Gnex will not run on his. Weird issue

I'm running AOKP with the CMPlus kernel. I want to encrypt my phone. Every time I try to start the encryption an android appears and the phone reboots. Then it doesn't even try to activate encryption. What can I do to get it encrypted?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I guess be glad it is failing. Don't encrypt if on custom rom, it will become difficult to flash ever again (without a full device wipe) and nandroids won't even work after.
good day.

I'm aware of the difficulty that cones with encryption but since I rooted to record business calls, encryption is a really good idea. Any idea how to get it working? Thanks

Don't use a custom kernel, report issue to AOKP dev team.

I didn't know you couldn't use a custom kernel. I'll try it with straight AOKP
Edit: Even with the stock kernel from AOKP it fails. Phone just reboots. AOKP site also seems to be down right now.

Try going back to stock recovery and see if encryption works. Also, you could try twrp and see if it works there as well.

I'll try TWRP first, but if that fails, how do I get stock recovery back? (I'm using the GSM maguro if that makes a difference)

To get stock recovery, find your stock 4.0.4 google image and flash the recovery using fastboot.

Even with stock recovery it doesn't work.
Edit: Just tried it with CM9 nightly as well, and the same thing happens. I'd really like to get encryption working.

Try going back to stock 4.0.4 ics and encrypting there. If it works, there are some test recoveries that support encryption and you could possibly flash a custom rom on top of it.

Thanks for the warning but I'm aware of that. The latest TWRP can work with encrypted /sdcard though. Plus if I get stuck, I'm told "fastboot erase userdata" will format /sdcard and remove the encryption.
hey guys every time i root my device my clockworkmod recovery always gets overwritten due to me having the latest software update on my gs3. every time i want to install a new rom i have to reflash clockworkmod. is there any way to get clockworkmod to stay on this new gs3 update?

Its no problem just whenever you flash CWM using Odin, uncheck the "auto reboot" box. Then, whenever you get the green success box and its complete, pull the battery. Now just boot straight into recovery, flash a custom ROM and it will stick.

So I've tried every rom that was based off the official jellybean. I even tried the stock rom by using Odin and it is still giving me problems too. So far, on every rom, it skips the welcome page after it boots and goes directly to the system manager popup. After that, my homescreen is all messed up. Someone please help
I'm using TWRP btw

I've already tried stock lol. It doesn't work. I keep getting the same results
After you flashed stock on Odin did you do a factory reset? Try that. It should solve your problem.

I tried that. It gives me the same thing. It skips the welcome screen for the tw jb roms and then the system manager randomly pops up. After it pops up, I get these random texts shown in the picture on my home screen and sometimes I can't pull down the notification bar when that happens. It was working fine yesterday though.

Never mind, I found a fix. Just had to restore back to my old ics touchwiz rom and delete root. Then I used kies to update to jellybean.
WiFi is not working on any rom except CM. I have wiped everything clean and done clean installs of Liquid Smooth 2.9 and AOKP MR2 and still nothing. I have event switched recoveries from CWM to TWRP and the GAPPS im using are 20130301. I am totally out of ideas here. I can live with CM but I really want to try AOKP MR2 as I hear it is quite good.

Sounds like you might have flashed a newer Kernel with update WiFi drivers. I've read where that's happened and you have to revert (somehow?) to the old drivers for compatibility. I think this was an issue in KT's kernals, but you might want to do some reading and research on your own.

Could be. I'd go back and read the instructions and changelog for it. If it loaded a different driver, you will need to re-flash the stock wifi driver, not usually included with other ROMs. Not sure if flashing the modem files would include those either.
So where would I score the default driver?

I dunno. I suppose you could flash back to stock using one of the "toolkits" available and go from there. That would probably be my choice, but is probably the long way home, too.
Where have you looked so far? I don't use CM, so I haven't read those forums for you, but I would assume you aren't the only one to switch from CM to some other ROM.
