EDIT: its caused by the same power saving feature in the other thread except that the power saving app is not turning off
when ~80% of the screen is the same dark colour the screen drops brightness around 10%
The nearest thread to this was this on S3 caused by power saving.

Good day every one
I have very weird issue I notice that when I´m in Power saving mode and make the screen brightness 100%, the screen start to flicker especially when the background is white, any one face the same issue?
thank you
The refresh rate of the screen is capped when power saving mode is enabled, hence the noticeable flickering. You can disable this feature in power saving mode settings.

Hi, lately I was wondering if there is any difference in battery drain using normal or energy saving mode in brightness settings?
From the beginning I set screen energy saving on and slide the slider to line between 2nd and 3rd switch in pull down status bar. For some reason I need more brightness from time to time and I just turn off power saving so my screen gets extra ilumination which is perfect for me, but will this drain battery the same way as when I left power saving on and slide brightness slider to the right to make screen brighter?

Not much in everyday use.
It only works well in poorly lit environments and driving at night. I just set my brightness to 40% and leave it. I is bright enough for home/office and 100% for day driving.
***Update***
The culprit was Lightflow. Had to deselect all "additional leds found". Me + google = victory.
Hello all, I'm hoping someone might know how to help me diagnose an issue I'm having with my brightness settings.
If I unselect "Auto" and set to max brightness, the screen gets nice and bright. But that's not a problem.
If I press the power button to turn the screen off, then press it again to turn the screen back on, the brightness quickly dims to a less bright value. All sliders, icons, settings etc. still register as being set at max brightness.
From what I can tell, the brightness is actually switching to the dimmest setting. The opposite of maximum brightness.
Any ideas? I'm new to logcatting, so might need some specific direction on the proper parameters to log.
T989 running Rushing's Lightspeed (4.1.2 base), and latest Tiberius 3.0.101 kernel. I've made some systemui xml tweaks for status bar and expanded status bar.
Let me know what other info I can provide.
Bump ... just realized the same thing is happening even when on auto brightness. Change the setting, all is good. Press power to turn screen off. Then press power to turn screen on, and within the first second, the brightness drops. Like something loads when waking the phone.
Any ideas where to start looking?
Good day
Had a problem, searched but nothing found. Nexus 7 car instal. When dimming the screen to auto brightness on zero (or tasker setting 0 brightness) screen is properly dimmed, perfect for night driving. But after locking the screen and then unlocking the screen backlight doesn't turn on. I can still operate touchscreen (hear music, taps etc) but nothing on the screen. Resetting by holding the power button brings it back, with brightness set to zero and backlight on.
Any solutions?
I found that I get better battery life if I keep power saving mode on during my daily use, problem is that it lowers the screen brightness too low sometimes even when slide to max brightness. Is there a way to retain my brightness on normal mode when I am in power saving mode?

You can try lumos brightness manager but you will no longer be able to use the slider in the quick menu.
You may want to try the app "Night Screen" as well.
