I have had a problem with all AOSP ROMs (except Plane Jane) where I have speakerphone echo, and was subverting if there was anything up to date that doesn't experience this. Only things that don't experience it are Plane Jane and stock based stuff.

Make sure you're on UVLE1 or UVLH1 and check noise suppression under the phone settings in dialer. This question as been asked a trillion times bud. Next time use the search pleez.

I'm definitely on UVLH1 and I do have noise suppression checked on every ROM I've been on. Nothing seems to work.

Just change radio to UVLG3 worked for me I had the same problems and that seemed to work for me
1. Noise suppression (sounds like you covered)
2. Try several radios
3. Cases can matter as well
I use my phone to host conference calls and went round and round with this.
LG3 proved best for my situation.
T989 AOKP JB MS1 (KK nightly) V6'd & Pimped
UVLE1 ics mod radio no issues at all on jb roms i have used.

I have been experiencing no sound on calls, whether it's outgoing or incoming. No sound whatsoever, the person can't hear me and vice versa. My phone's on the Xtremeperia Rom v6 and I don't think it;s a ROM problem because I previously had the Jedi Mind Trick v9 ROM and experienced the same no sound on call. Every other audio works fine, it's just the phone calls that I never hear sound from. I've tried rebooting, restoring, hard & soft reset but no fix. If anyone has a solution or fix please tell me thanks so much in advance!
Has to do with the radio

Hello, I have a problem in my T989D, I installed the CM10, my phone gets no signal, and when I get a connection, the quality is bad and can not speak, it is normal to happen?
Try a different radio and make sure noise suppression is checked in your dialer settings

Hello, I am using this version of "radio-Telus_SGH T989D_TLLE4_radio", which is the recommended version for CM10?, I can not find the settings to disable noise suppression
Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried LiquidSmooth RC8, the latests Paranoid Android, and the newest SlimROM. They all must be based off the same ROM, because audio quality is equally horrendous. I notice that in the Settings > Sound that there is an option to select between MusicFX and DSPManager. However, none of these applications seem to have any affect over the audio, whatsoever. I am surprised that the BASE audio wouldn't be the same as every other ROM. Shouldn't these EQ/DSP add-ons just allow you to modify the stock flat-EQ? Most people would probably want a flat EQ anyways, because their audio ends up on the car stereo, or some other device that already has these controls.
With that said, are you guys noticing the same thing? I absolutely cannot get Pandora or Spotify (haven't tried any others because I don't care,) on these new ROMs. I hope this isn't what the latest CM10 offers, because I am about to flash to that now.
Oh man, I just loaded up the latest CM10 stable and it has the same problem... At least DSPManager can modify the EQ for the entire system, not app-specific. Even still, it sounds nowhere near as good as it did before. While I'm flashing my phone I am playing feeding the same Beacon "The Phoenix" audio cube on my desk with my Transformer TF300T and it is shaking the whole surface with bass, and sounds very full. I played with all the EQ settings, and went manual and got nothing remotely close using my S3 with these ROMs.
Just restored my CM10 11/7/2012 nightly and it has flawless audio over bluetooth--but other issues like missed calls, etc
You silly op you.that's backwards dspmgr is simply part of the general aosp experience and all aosp roms recently developed that bug

I dug through quite a view AOSP-based ROM threads and could not find anything. I don't understand how anyone could possibly use these ROMs with that horrifying bug?
Freeze or uninstall DSPmanager then install a new audio engine (I use team AC!D's), problem solved.
EDIT: I've never had that happen before but I always freeze that app and I've been using AC!D audio mod since the beta for this phone.

Hate to say it but it's unrelated and all over the cm10 thread

I just bought power amp and all of my songs are extremely low quality. This doesn't seem to be a problem on aokp for my cousins s2. Wonder if its an s3 only deal.

Its terrible...I cant even use any of these ROMS because of this!
I don't have issues over wire, but Bluetooth is borked in aosp. Due to the transition to 4.2 don't expect quick fixes so.... I moved to a tw rom mainly because of bt and ril related battery drain.......

Is this supposed to be a 'feature?' If so? They should remove DSPManager and let us decide. I would always prefer some flat EQ so that I can process it elsewhere.
I have 2 sg3's one Jelly Bombed and one CM10 based. Side by side TW BT sounds better. 1 fix for CM10 is after starting BT audio go to your phone and make a call (I just dial 123) then hang up as soon as it connects. Viola, bass is back and audio is tolerable... hope this helps you out

I am running task's AOKP build with the ktoons kernel and no matter what I do I cannot get grooveip to come out of the earpiece instead of the speaker. I've tried all their audio API hacks, but nothing seems to work. Has anybody had success with GroveIP on AOSP?

I have the same issue. I tried all of the tips from snrb's FAQ and couldn't turn off speakerphone on CM10.1. I suppose we could email snrb, but they may have an issue with us using an aftermarket ROM. Anyone have any luck?
Every ROM I install seems to have a problem playing BT audio to lg tone + headsey . is BT audio a constant problem on most jb ROMs or just hit and miss kind of thing?? :what:
When i try to play music through the headset the phone freezes or cuts out and reboots.

Depends on the BT device and which ROM you are running. I have had no issues with my Jabra on GB08.

Right now I'm running Slim Bean. But any of the custom ROMs based off of GB08 will be the same as the original GB08 leak.

The things is my headset works fine on ics roms but once I hit jb it always seems to crash so I have tried from the jb roms due to that since I really use my headset alot for work.
I have the same issue with my Tone+ headset. Works great on ICS but I am lucky to get them to work for a couple minutes before lockup and the entire phone crashes on JB. I just tried the official release GB27 and the problem is still there.
Ah so the problem is still present in the official. That kinda stinks
