SMS and Gmail Alert Notifications (Sounds)

Am new to Android and can't work out how to turn off sound notifications for emails yet retain them for SMS text messages?
I get a lot of emails that aren't urgent (an can read in my own time) but would like to still know immediately when a text comes in...
Cheers
Yeah go into e-mails and then press menu then go to more then settings it's in there. Notification settings, sounds OFF.
In the email applications you can set the ringtone for email notifications to silent? Presumably that allows you to keep SMS notification sounds.
The way i described allows to keep sms sounds.

What's App messages not vibrating the watch...help?

I get the notification on the watch when I receive a new message. However it doesn't vibrate so I don't know its where until I look at it. Other apps like gmail vibrates the watch. Does anybody know how to make whatsapp notifications vibrate as well?
thanks
You have to change the actual notification setting in the app for whatsapp. There isn't a special section for wear you just have to change notifications to vibrate as well.

Notifications

Any way to make my phone screen light up everytime I receive a notification? Currently it only vibrates (i'm on silent) and flashed the notification LED so I can't tell which app's notification it is. Thanks in advance

If you install xposed you can use the smsxposed module to make your phone wake on new text messages. I think there's one for voicemails as well. Might even be one for all notifications.

Text notifications waking up screen

I've been looking through a ton of threads but couldn't find an answer. Whenever I receive a text, my screen turns on. It doesn't happen for emails though. Is there anyway to disable the screen from turning on when receiving a text? Thanks!

That comes stock on LG devices & Samsung. The stock messaging app. Download a 3rd party messaging app from the play store. Problem solved
