Hello, I've recently acquired the htc one x from a friend, i came from the sensation. I was trying to do some rom jumping today and put myself into a bit of a pickle.
what you alls need to know is that i accidently deleted the back ups. and now i have no roms to flash and none installed. I can get to twrp and mount to usb, but on the computer end it says i need to format disk before I can do anything. Since that's not really an option I seem to be stuck with no roms and no way to get a rom on it. I would like to put clean 5.0 back on and stick with that until i can better grasp the adb process on the one x. Any help would be appreciated, thank you -

you won't be stuck by deleting twrp, you can always flash any custom recovery from fastboot
with that i was able to get the rom onto it and install. however now I am in cleanrom 5.0 and I'm recieving .process and .phone failures and re boots. any idea how to proceed?

have you flashed the rom's boot.img?
it claims it does it for you at the end? unfortunately i wanted to avoid that whole thing which is what got me into this mess.

what are you talking about!? if you flash a rom (clean 5.0 in your case) you will also have to flash its boot.img to get it running!
at the end of the rom installation process it says it flashes the boot image for you.

never heard of an automatic flash of boot.img, it couldn't be possible cause you are not S-OFF
o ok. i've managed to flash it via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634786
unfortunately it didn't help that i got the phone and it had already been rooted, would have rather done it myself.
thank yo for all of your help!

!??!?!??!!??!? could you speak english please? i cannot help you if i do not understand your problem
ok, i'll take it from the top- turn on phone into bootloader. I can no longer get to recovery. I have tried flashing twrp to no avail. when i reset it will go to cleanrom and bootloop. I need to completely reset and re install recovery and rom. just can't get it working for some reason
fastboot erase cache
Go recovery and erase the cache and dalvik cache.
i would but now recovery goes to boot loop, even after i try and flash recovery (twrp and cwm)
fastboot erase cache
i have erased cashe in fastboot through one x tool kit and fastboot flasher. now it goes to the rom and the rom crashes and re boots. :/ how can i wipe and re install rom through fastboot?
also if i click recovery it goes to white htc screen with red dev warning text, then loops
I don't know. I don't know what your tool is doing.
Have you tried reflashing latest recovery? I recommend clockworkmod 5.8.4.0.
is that for gsm ? mine is att version, dk if that matters here
Oh FFS.
You're asking questions about a dual core snapdragon phone in a forum for a quad core Tegra3 based phone and you only wonder out loud now whether that matters?
Yes. Yes it does.
Now go ask questions about your phone in the forum for your phone before you break it.
I used this guide to root and install clockwork recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355
after following the instructions, I rebooted my phone and selected recovery. However all I see is an HTC screen that says this ROM is for development purposes only yada yada yada. I have tried re-flashing clockwork a few times and it still always does this when I select recovery. Can anybody help?
I flashed the attached clockworkmod recovery yesterday without issue.
Unzip the attached archive and put the recovery.img in your fastboot folder, then "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
does say your phone security warning or so in fastboot?
STOP!
Does your bootloader say EVITA or ENDEAVORU?
What was the outcome of this? Did you get it going?

I did get everything working. The problem was I was trying to flash International One X ROMs to my AT&T One X. Lucky I didn't brick it if you ask me... I re-locked the phone and started from scratch with the right ROMs and everything worked great
I flash too and every thing is good, cwm work well

Hi .
Im on my first HTC . Had it for 3 days . so htc noob.
Rooted my stock DHD by easy root tool(the sticky one from here). innstalled busy box and CMW from the tool.
So its unlocked but s-on(not that it should matter?)
I on on CMW touch from this forum and tried first to install Viper. but in aroma when i choose full wipe It stops in the installer and says innstall finish.
The only way it will install is to choose dirty install. then it installs but I'm stuck on HTC boot screen (the withe one)
I we tried to wipe cache. Dalvik. Factory. Mounted and un mounted everything. Different SD card. different CMW recovery, Fix recovery+++
Tried to find a versjon of ext4 zip that i can flash from cmw recovery i use now but havent found anything.
Iwe tried ruu but it says that it dosent support my rom.
Iwe gone back to ginger bread with android revolution 6.5.
But NOTHING helps nothing gets me past this F.......G boot screen.
My phone is bricked ? and I'm considering flushing it down the toilet =/
Coming from samsung and several years of flashing I always had ODIN to rely on if something went on.
This is my first HTC and it will be the last if i dont manage to fix this.
Please help me . and please explain it simple- to a htc noob.
Thanks
Because you are not S-Off, you need to fastboot flash a boot.img after each time you flash a a ROM from recovery.
EDIT: why did you post this twice? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196568. And this answer is strewn all across these forums.
bananagranola has the point, try boot.img.
I'm completely inexperienced with rooting and such, but I wanted to upgrade to android 4.4.2, so I foolishly decided to follow the steps of a youtube video to do this. ("How to Install ROM on Rooted HTC One X!") and ("How to Root HTC One X on Mac OSX!") - both on youtube (i can't post links)
I successfully rooted the phone and had installed CWM and I was following the second video and trying to install the BeanStalk ROM
After trying to install, it said installation aborted, but I DIDN'T SEE IT the first time, so I tried to reboot it and now I'm stuck in an endless cycle of the HTC home screen and CWM.
I know I probably sound really dunce right now, but I've already made so many decisions I regret today
I think I may have bricked my phone; i can get to the hboot screen but rebooting it from there does the same thing, I had factory and just about everything else wiped it because the video said to, and the backup I had on CWM won't restore (MD5 mismatch!), and I can't mount it to usb because it says "E: unable to open ums lunfile..."
I know i did the wrong thing and I just should have left it alone, but PLEASE someone tell me there's a way to fix it? I'm really scared
lunfile error usually stems from using an older version of recovery, look for the latest version of cwm or philz recovery or even the latest twrp recovery. flash it in fastboot mode and then try again with the rom of your choice
hello
Usually it's related to recovery, for the 4.4.2 kitkat you have to use a newer recovery , try getting and install trwp 2.7 I used this when I was on kitkat last week hehe it's work for sure, cheers.
Please help:
I rooted my new HTC One M8 using Hansoons All-In-One Toolkit and was able to success unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP recovery.
I can now enter bootloader and boot into recovery.
The problem is that I cannot seem to flash a ROM..any ROM and have tried 3 different ROMs off the forum but all fail or quickly go back to the main recovery page.
I think I have wiped all the data off my phones internal memory in my desperate efforts to get something flashed so that I can use my phone to make calls.
Where do I go from here? I have tried searching the forum for similar threads but seem to be getting myself even more confused.
Thanks in advance if you take the time to help me. In my case a 'little knowledge has been a dangerous thing'
Bob
fastboot erase cache
Then flash the latest TWRP using fastboot. If you used the toolkit to flash TWRP, the toolkit has not been updated in a long time, so the old TWRP versions might be the problem. Or just a bad TWRP install.
Thanks Red - that sorted it out and I now have Cyanogen installed and running perfectly.
Thank you so so much for you advice and timely help.
Bob :good:
Awesome. And you're very welcome.
Never fails to amaze me how many recovery or flashing problems can be solved by simply flushing cache and re-installing recovery.
