Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant and want to upgrade my phone to Galaxy S II, now do you guys recommend the T-Mobile version or the international version?
Please don't consider only the phone but also the future ROM development also.
Thanks in advance
specs wise I recommend the Tmobile one because of higher process speeds. and for development, I haven't really looked into the international version but the att skyrocket is the same phone as this so whoever gets a better ROM 1st , both sides win because they are compatible with eachother

I don't know too much about the international version but I believe you will get better data speeds with the Tmobile version depending on your area but the processor is better in the international version.
I recommend going with the international phone. If you are curious about development, check out the forums of each device and see what you like. The international version will also get official updates faster.

Definitely the international. Especially if development is important to you. Our development is beat.

I came from a Vibrant. Went GNexus then went to GS2 today.
I used the Gnexus for about a 9 days and already the GS2 seems way snappier (using the Juggernaut 4.1) Can't say about the battery life on it yet, but with the GNexus I was able to get full day with a single charge with wifi on all day.
Enterrpise email on push along with gmail and hotmail. sms/mms/listen to podcast for about 3.5 hours.
I'll have more details with the gs2 (T989) in the next couple of days.
Why would you get the international version when you would be stuck on edge speeds?
This phone is fast a you would need it to be but its true the development here is slow. I would recommended this phone to anyone in a heart beat.
I couldn't have a phone on Tmobile without wifi calling....thus the Tmobile version

Okay heres the dealio. Non bias or anything. Internation galaxy s 2= GS2 T-mobile galaxy s 2= 989
The 989 has a larger screen to play with. Not really a necessary thing to have but its nice. The processor on gs2 is alot better. Exynos processor. The only reason the 989 has a bigger number in processor is because its a qualcomm snapdragon. Which is sucks... lol. Exynos has better gpu and cpu control. The cameras the same. And yada. The data is better for tmobile since it is true 4G. (42 mbs) but i dont see using the data a whole lot unless you tether 24/7. But the lack of development in this community is just like the SGS4G. Honestly its cause this phone doesnt really need it. Once we get CM9 then you... Devs will work there asses off cause cm9 is the best and far more developed than stock. But its slow atm. The gs2 already has ics roms i presume and if not then they will really soon! So its all about your patience...

I thought GNexus would be the best and too expensive also. So, why did you leave that one? Which GS2 did you get, international or Tmobile?

T-Mobile CPU: 1.5 GHz

Why Do you say Exynos is better? Any proof? at least gs2 is higher in GHz.
The exynos has a smoother transitions and i compared it to a sprint gs2 with an exynos processor. The game asphalt is noticeably smoother on the exynos processor. And number doesnt matter at all. Windows phones are still 1.0 ghz and not evem dula core and can do perfect with animations and games. Honeslty dual core is nonsense... But exynos is an all around better processor. If you dont believe me then go to a sprint store and play around with their gs2

T989 is a 1.5 qualcomm snapdragon processor. While the international is a 1.2 dualcore exynos processor

So, I think I got the answer then.
I have looked and looked and now I have given up looking. Where can I find the spec to my phone. (EX. CPU under clocked and over clocked limt) Now I know I am new to posting here and I am def. a newb so my question might not even have a real answer. I still figured I should ask for peace of mind.
Did you try using the search function? I think the limits are like 300mhz to 1.72ghz... ish...
The search right next to "find your device." just brings up google and yes I have over searched google. Maybe I am just not putting in the right key words. Ether way thank you because what you just said just gave me more info then I could find. I am running 1080 max and 300 something min. next one up from 198 that i was useing but figured that was to low.
Some people have reported problems with 198. The highest we can currently OC is 1.836, but keep in mind that uses a lot of power, and heats up the phone really quickly. It also doesn't seem to benchmark as well as 1 or 2 levels lower. Generally, using Fauxclock with 1.512 Max on demand works perfectly for me. It also turns off a core to save even more power.
What is up with these numbers are these even for the same phone?

wrong. the tmobile and telus phones are completely different. one uses a exynos (sp?) chip and the other a qualcomm chip of which telus runs faster stock.

Definitely wrong. T-Mobile, Telus, Skyrocket are all the same phone with same processor chip (qualcomm). That's why our ROMs are interchangeable even if some kernel information is not. You will not brick your device interflashing these ROMs. Same cannot be said for flashing ROMs for international versions.

Stick with the S3 because what most people don't know is that the S3 has a higher pixel density than the Note2 so what the heck am i paying a higher price of almost $800 for if pixel density of gs3 is less than gs3? when you are watching a high def movie you want to make ever pixel density count man and the things look exactly alike one is just 5.5inch another is 4.8 inches really no big difference to be going after note 2 and btw i think the gs3 xda development is not all that active compared to how active the gs2 xda forum was when i had a gs2. Also most of the roms in the gs3 xda section kind of suck and have issues, very few are close to perfect like the liquidsmooth rom i enjoyed, i also enjoyed the note 2.
Btw, good luck on rom development because I wish i knew how i can develop my own, I am very picky and have to have everything perfect or near perfect so i will make a good rom if only i knew how to cook my own custom rom. Some folks who make roms dont take time to look into issues or fix flaws.
Btw, the best roms for the galaxy s3 are being made for the international quad core version the i9000 series so thats probably why i don't see very good roms for gs3 in dev section.

Actually the Galaxy Note have a better display than the Galaxy S3. On paper the s3 sounds better with a higher pixel density. In reality the S3 still uses pentile display while the Note 2 uses the much better tradition RGB. I have them both for comparison. When you zoom in in pictures or video you can definitely see the Note 2 have a more superior display.

i suggest read this article and the thread if you want to buy the note 2

You are obviously a clueless kid that has no idea what is going on. Which roms suck? Maybe before you take shots at the devs you should learn what the hell you are talking about. If you need help ask for it instead of making idiotic blanket statements.
Good grief... It's no wonder the devs get a little moody from time to time. It is because of uneducated posts like yours. Try being a little more grateful that people are willing to share their work for free. Contribute something other than your whining.
Sorry for the mini rant, but your post just rubbed me the wrong way. Again, if you need help ask.
I won a free galaxy s3 for Christmas through my job(sprint) but i currently have a galaxy nexus. I'm torn between the two. The gs3 has more ram and a faster processor but little to no support for 4.2. Im addicted to 4.2 and most the ROMs for the gs3 or in some form based on touchwiz which i absolutely hate. From a quick look the ROMs based on aosp or cm10 are either still in the early stages of beta or not enough attention is given to developer or his work to motivate for further development. I guess im just spoiled by such a broad range of choices with nexus devices that I'm having to come here to ask for advise or input on what you guys think about the gs3 as a daily phone vs the gnex.

I'd say at this point in time of you can handle the wait you should wait for 1080p devices. 720 is more than adequate but just like the jump from 30 to 60fps there is a difference.

Pixels have nothing (or at least very little)to do with it its the display size, brightness and tech that affect battery life. Resolution is unchanging.

But the GPU needs more juice to push more pixels. Granted that they are using smaller nm scales for SoCs now which means more performance for less power however the extra effort for the resolution could negate this. Let's hope you're right and at worst battery life stays the same!
