That's strange, have you tried to install any recovery like TWRP or CWM?

What exactly are you trying to do? If you go into FB mode you should be able to use the volume rocker to choose what you want in terms of rebooting, recovery, etc. Are you not seeing any menu?

I don't know if this will work, but try plugging your phone in to a computer.
I know CWM has a weird bug on the Nexus 7 where you can't go in to recovery mode unless it's plugged in.
I've never had that problem on my GNex, but it might work...

Hey XDA members.
Can anyone explain how I flash the Recovery using fastboot???
That is what is instructed to get it in.
Here is the link:
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
It has all the recoveries made by koush.
Touch & Button version.
Code:
Fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery.img
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Install fastboot/fastboot drivers, then.
Download the recovery file you want and put it in the fastboot folder.
1. turn phone off
2. press and hold both volume up and down button then press and hold power, this will take the phone to bootloader
3. type: fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilenamehere.img
4. press the volume up or down button to select RECOVERY MODE, press power to select, and there you go, you're in cwm.

Obviously you don't know what you're doing, I suggest not screwing with your phone, we don't want another thread asking how to fix another person's phone cuz they "bricked" it.

Maaaaan I'm gonna have to do this tomorrow now. cuz no one is gonna unlock the computer.
Could I use Wug's Toolkit "Flash(permanent) Recovery" option to get it on my phone???
Just asking. Sorry if this somehow offends anyone.

You probably shouldn't be flashing recoveries if you don't know what you're doing. Learn by reading. The method for flashing recoveries hasn't changed since the Nexus One came out 2.5 years ago.

I did not make this, just passing it along. Link is to a flashable zip for 6.000alpha; it worked for me coming from previous version. Much easier then fastboot... Just move to root of your SD card and flash, no wipe necessary.

Wait, so you can go to recovery but not bootloader? Can you please confirm that? Because, if you can go to bootloader, you can use adb commands to push one of the ROM to your phone...

That was the bootloader, where you use fastboot.
Bought this phone on Craiglist, when i got home, i turn it on and found that it only boot in to Download mode.
If i try to boot into Recovery then it go into "Fastboot", but i can't not navigate at all.
Then i try to reload the factory firmware via Odin then the phone will on but it in "Safe Mode". If i reboot it then it go into "Download" mode again.
I don't know what to do now.
Please help!!!
Go back to fastboot and use tool kit to set it back to factory settings and see if that works. Hope you didn't pay much.

It was on, i didn't see the safe mode on the bottom left until got home (like i said in the first post, if flash it with odin, first reboot it will boot to safe mode, but if it turn off) then it will go to download mode.
if it's a Verizon or GSM version you can follow this guide to fastboot flash a stock image
Oh gotcha.

I did a duma$$ move. I flashed a rom on top of a different rom without wiping.
- Phone boots up
- Boot animation displays
- Freezes on 'Android' Screen
- Does not go into Recovery
- Does not go into Download mode
- PC doesn't see it, but pc makes a sound when I plug it in, and drivers attempt to install when I plug in to pc (fail)
- Kies takes a while but I got "This device is not supported by Kies 2.0. Please try again'
Any and all help is appreciated.

if you got into download mode and odin'ed back to stock and it gets stuck on the "samsung with the blue logo behind it" boot screen than you have to go to stock recovery and wipe data and cache there and reboot, i had the same problem earlier but mine could get into recovery and download mode but it wouldnt wipe the data it would just turn off whenever i tried to

How'd you do that? I might have the same situation.
to get into the stock recovery you hold volume up and home and the power button at the same time, use the volume keys to move up and down and power button to select than wipe data and cache and reboot
So I flash liquid smooth was all great so I wanted to restore my apps that I backup with Samsung toolkit. So I flash inseruce boot IMG. Now my phone won't go past samsungs boot logo can't get into download by pressing volume down plus home and power.
You might have to do a factory reset in recovery mode. Thats normally the easiest way to get past softbricks.
