Hey guys, i've been offered a Galaxy Note II for just 450 USD ( 25,000 INR or 345 EUROS). And the reason it is selling for this cheap is because its locked to Sprint Operator, and apparently the owner is a 'Total NOOB' , and doesn't know what to do with it since we are both here in Africa (Ghana). What i wanna ask is that, is there a SURE way to get this bad boy running unlocked without too much hassle? So i can just snap it up! Its still very new and in its box. Thanks for your replies...
It's cdma, not gsm. No good for Africa friend.

Do you think unlocking the note 2 will allow it to work in Brazil?
I`m in Victoria BC and I want to buy a galaxy note 2. I only found locked phones to sell... They are selling in Brazil the N7100, maybe if I buy it here and unlock it will work in Brazil, what you guys think about it?
Root your phone ) i did it like this when i ordered a G1 (htc dream) back in the days and couldnt use it here in belgium.. rooted the phone and it worked out

Yes I'm an idiot, I know. I bought it off eBay and realized too late.Question is, can I pay a lab to mod it for me or something? It's a Verizon. I heard it has a microSIM slot that's almost sealed shut but still existing. So it would probably just require reprogramming the frequencies. And I'll handle unscrewing the slot and inserting my SIM. Is this possible?

you cannot make a CDMA nexus work on GSM frequencies. totally different radios.
So best/only option would be to sell it and buy another?... crap...

You can always look to trade for a new one on Craigslist or similar services as well!
Thanks everyone, the seller's trying to stop the shipment, I'll talk to him about returns once the device is in either's hands... hopefully I'll get a return or find who to sell to/trade with.

Worse case scenario you can sell it. The good thing is it is a very desirable phone. The sim also is completely removable. Your thinking of the sprint version which has the weird sim situation.

So obviously the best solution is to get the correct phone, so I'm in favor of that, but it also got me thinking.
The Galaxy S3 has a workaround to use GSM SIM cards, is there something similar for the Galaxy Nexus?

(I have the GSM version so this is more for curiousity and to help anyone else who may be in this situation)

Ouch! I'm currently trying to sell my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus on places like AC and Craigslist. I have it in the title and description that it is Verizon but honestly you will not believe how many ppl only see Galaxy Nexus and not the Verizon part . I hope you get a refund and or find someone willing to trade! Good luck!

No. The Verizon Galaxy S3 is a world phone that also supports GSM&HSPA on top of CDMA/LTE. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is not a world phone.

Hi everybody! My Note II is coming for me tomorrow, from England to Brazil, it is sim-unlocked.
But I have a (maybe a noob) doubt about updates - Via Kies or ODIN:
I am sure that the Big Baby Note II will receive the update to enable multi-windows coming directly from BTU - As the firmware I suppose will be BTU Unbranded.
But, after the update, it will still be sim-unlocked? And if it locks again, there's an safe method to sim-unlock again? Hypothetical speaking, if it locks again.
I never had an imported device, and here in Brazil all devices comes unlocked from factory - It's a Law.
Someone could, please, answer my doubts, or even indicate some safe method to unlock it - Hope I will not need this - Just in case, and as I didn't found any thread here talking about this subject.
Thanks!
If you bought an unlocked phone, it will be forever.
I've never heard of a carrier who forces a lock on your SIM free phone. That'd be wrong.
So don't worry.

are you happy with N7100?
before I had an Xperia x1 and loved the ability to use differents ROM's and, now I have an Iphone 4, but wishing to try the N7100 because of my bad eyes...
aslo, are you going to use another microcard?
thanks
Not sure I understand completely. But as my phone is SIM free, I have the liberty to use any SIM card.

Hey Angie,
Have had my F240S for about a month. I am in Ireland. Wonderful phone. You will probably have the dual clock on the lock screen but there is a fix on that on here and I would recommend rooting the phone.
Enjoy it!
Patrick
Thanks Patrick, nice to know there's someone else out there. I've looked at the rooting method, I'll enjoy it for a couple of days and then have a go. I've been told there are a few Korean apps that will be useless to me so it would seem an inevitable thing to do. So used to using odin and Sammobile to do updates for my current phone that I think it's going to be a bit of a learning curve.

Yeah i use a korean version
Simply root it using the simple method listed at Optimus forums then use titanium backup to remove the korean apps you don't want

Quick question. My in laws are moving to China. They live in the States but my father in law was wondering if they can unlock the device to use over in China. Someone (I don't remember who) said it can be unlocked and used over there. I said that I don't think it can be and that you need to international version for it to work. Any help would be great. Thanks

Are you certain that it will be carrier locked in the first place? I've used cellunlocker before with no issues.

I meant as unlocking the phone mate so I can use any sim, normally cost around £10-£20. I didn't actually mean buying the phone sim free
