As we all know weather through being stupid (IE, Myself) or actually reading the forums, most will notice there is a big difference in the baseband of the Intl vs tmo versions of the Note 2. I'm looking for a way to convert the Intl roms to Tmo compatible. Not sure if the baseband simply (easier said then done) needs to be removed from the ROM, or if the ROM needs to be recompiled with tmo baseband in mind, or what. Any help on this would be appreciative.

Hi XDA,
I am currently on a T-mobile contract, but I will move to a different country for business purposes.
I know how to do the device unlock (thanks to youtube), but I was just thinking of different issues that
might come across when using different GSM network.
my device is rooted, running custom rom with T-mobile radio.
my questions are:
1. even if i unlock my device, shouldnt i flash a different rom that is compatible to other networks? (different radio too?)
2. could i use the roms and radios that are used in international version?
if the process is more complicated than I am thinking, could someone light me up?
Thanks in advance.

Never flash anything from an international model as you will brick your device.
I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I couldn't figure out the answer clearly after doing a search. I currently have the S3 with Sprint and am using a custom ROM. I want to switch to T-mobile (b/c their service is better in my area) and I know that I will have to get a new S3 that works on their GSM network. My question is will the same ROMs that worked on my Sprint S3 work on my Tmobile S3, or are roms carrier specific? Thanks
For the most part, roms are carrier specific. There's a sticky thread in development that you can make any rom work for your phone, you will have to get your hands dirty tho. Not just a zip and flash type thing.
Thats my question guys. If TMO version has BL unlocked, could i install a firmware (rom) from international versions on a TMO?
I come from a HTC and i think everything was so easy. I could install the international version on my AT&T changing the partition lay-out but i dunno if i can do the same on S6 edge, being that TMO version has BL unlocked.
I'm really sorry for this stupid question.
There's already a thread on this, and the answer is yes, but not without a lot of work from an experienced developer.

Well in short I have an At&t Model GS4 the i337 its currently unlocked running on stock Nj4 and of course want to root it. First of all i suspect i need to use t mobile roms now that i am on that network.
Here is a list of questions and links are also appreciated as answers anything that helps!
First and foremost how should i root this (my last device was a G3) so if things are different please tell me also, I their an app or a thread you can point me to.
Secondly how do i update it to a v5.1 or the latest so updating them rom later is not a problem if i must use odin to do this (i want to use the latest to use odin the least)
Lastly anyone who can give directions on how to root and get to the latest version of android i wold greatly appreciate the time anyone spend to respond to this this post i TYIA
So any links that will work work with NJ4 I would be so happy I have only experience with the G3 I feel i know what to do with it but the Gs4 is new to me and i appreciate any help i receive/
Thank yo for reading this and TYIA for responding thank you for your help i hope its as simple as someone posting some links so i can do this easy i again thanks for leading me through the fog and TIA
@BeatnikBandit :
Basically, you're in the wrong forum. You'll need to get support fir the ATT version i337 over in the forum for that model. I used to have one, actually. I sold it on Swappa and got a T-Mo M919 S4 so that I could take advantage of all the AOSP ROMs for the M919. At least as of a year ago, there was no way to unlock the boot loader on the i337 and the only ROMs available for it were basically just skins on the TouchWiz kernel. ROMs, such as they were, used something called SafeStrap. Not sure if things have changed for that device in the year since I gave it up.
You can only use ROMs made for your model. So, even if the locked boot loader weren't an issue with the i337, its hardware is different from the Verizon or T-Mo variants. Using a ROM for a different model will give problems. On the T-Mo M919, there's a bit of an exception in that we're hardware comparable to the international variant, so we can often use ROMs for that one (9505 I think). Oh, and the M919 never got an official lollipop upgrade from T-mo before they gave up on it, so there are some issues with using LolliPop ROMs on the M919.
I'm sorry I can't help you with how to root, but presumably you will find that answer over in the i337 forum.
As for using the i337 on T-Mo, that should be easy enough. Just go in and enter the APN information for T-Mo (probably is in the T-Mo forum somewhere) in place of the ATT APN info and you should be good to go, presuming your phone is SIM-unlocked. Instructions on SIM-unlocking it should be in the ATT i337 forum, if you're not already unlocked. For example, when I got my M919, all I had to do to get it to work on ATT was enter the APN info from ATT, and BOOM I was on the network. I bought a pre-SIM-unlocked phone to avoid having to unlock it myself.
I hope this is at least a little helpful even if it's not all the answers you were hoping for.

I've searched and can't find a specific answer on compatibility on ROMs and the different carrier versions of the Fire Phone. It's late so maybe I just picked bad combos in my searches.
1. a. Will it brick an AT&T phone if you install the international ROM (or vice versa)?
b. If it doesn't brick is it effectively turn into an international variant (or vice versa)?
2. Are the CM11/SlimKat ROMs ok to install on any variant (AT&T and/or International)?
3. Are the CM11/SlimKat ROMs ok to install on any size variant (32GB or 64GB)?
I know some phones it's OK and some phones brick when you install other variant ROMs so I just want to confirm before I buy an AT&T version. I also know some ROM's have to re partition the device and I wouldn't want to lose 32GB. I apologize if these have been answered but I can't find them tonight.

I have the exact same question 1, I wouldn't call it "international", just unlocked version I guess
Bump, such easy question should be easy to answer and kind of important

1.a. No.
Source: I installed the UK, US AT&T and US GSM unlocked firmware on my device (T-Mobile netlocked, Germany).
Every Fire Phone works with all variants in general (there are ofc. different pre-installed TTS languages, WiFi channel support differs, etc.)
1.b. As Jose-MXL mentioned, unlocked (as in neutral) describes it a bit better.
The US ''GSM unlocked'' firmware has multi language support, just like the other versions, so you're not stuck with English language.
Again, some WiFi channels won't work, e.g. channel 13 in Germany, because it's based on US standards.
The fimware doesn't affect netlock, ofc. If your device was netlocked before, it will stay locked. If it was unlocked with a code before, it will stay unlocked.
2. Yes, as far as we know.
ggow only mentioned v. 4.6.1 because this was the (latest) tested version at the time. People reported successful installation on 4.6.1, 4.6.3 and 4.6.4 variants.
3. Yes.
Only the system partition is affected when installing SlimKat / CM11 (sorry, just describing it very briefly ^^).
As you know from stock Fire OS, the internal storage and media storage share the remaining storage space, so nothing will change on that partition.
