In previous phones I have been able to disable things like sms notifications and limitations by changing settings or downloading an app that would let me do so,
Does anyone know a program that will emable me to increase the number of contacts I can add to a sms message?
on my Old Samsung Epic 4 G I could select as many contacts as i pleased, now on my Note II they only allow 10 (Samsung... Why the change?)
Please Help
hmn... I see a lot of people checked out the thread but no leads on an answer.
for those of who are watching I will up date if find a solution. :good:

Try handcent sms. There are addons that allow you to add uo to a thousand or something.

Hey guys I really can figure this out. Can anybody help out?

You have to use another SMS app like Go SMS or something.

+1, definitely in GoSMS, where you add recipients in compose new message you can select entire groups or all contacts...
You can add a bunch of people to the recipient list just by tapping it

I use hand cent because it has a cleaner look and less childish...

Amen to that, I can't use any of their stuff

GroupText it's in the market.
You can type multiple names in the stock msging app. Just tap on the address bar and keep inputing names.
Mind you, it cant email a group but it can mass text.
I filed a "bug" about this:

What bug? Read posts above yours.
After you enter the first recipient, tap in the TO: field enter another one, then keep adding to your hearts content.

That is a pain in the ass though. Read the report I filed to see why it is.
Not only is it a pain in the ass, but there's also a limit to how many people you can add when using that method.
I can't believe Google still hasn't given us a built-in option to see a list of all contacts with tick boxes next to their names for easy selection. My Symbian phones from 2004 could do that.
Hi all,
I have already searched for this answer but have not found an actual solution. When u text someone and I carry over into a 2nd message, my phone says converting to MMS!
Now I've recently moved to 3 was on Orange for years and I'm pretty sure my Note 2 on Orange didn't do it or my S3 I had or even other phones!
Is this a 3 issue or did it already do it on Orange and I didn't notice?
Is there a fix with the stock messaging app? I don't want to switch to go sms or handcet sms.
Cheers

I don't have my gn2 yet, but...
Is stock the standard aosp messaging app or a Samsung app? If its the pure aosp, there is a setting for splitting messages after 160 chars, which is the standard SMS limit. Is there not an option for something similar to split or keep as SMS? Just because some apps allow 160+ as SMS doesn't mean they should.
Carrier and region may have impact on this as well. More information is always helpful.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Samsung app, so there is no option for the above. I can use a 3rd party app to get round it as 3 have said it's a known issue on their network with certain Samsung phones.
I will just have to either send separate texts or get charged!

Note2 very bad in this, I am extremely disappointed with this, I'm using GOSMS until they find a solution, because the solution of S3's not right with the Note2.

I don't want to use a 3rd party app, it should be in built. Hopefully Sammy will fix it soon.

GoSMS w/ the emoji plugin.
I heard you get a lot of spam with that app?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I get a message or two month. Usually about a new theme they've added or some feature they've updated. Nothing intrusive, or annoying and its usually just a notification in that app that is quickly deleted.
I've been using it for about a year.

GoSMS 4.37 is what you want. It is available if you search. No spam.

I like handcent...not sure what the downsides are to handcent compared to the others. I did try gosms a while back and wasn't impressed. I could give it another shot though.
I really don't have a lot of requirements for a messaging app. I don't do groups or advanced messaging. Even so, I find the stock messaging app extremely unappealing and not adequate for my minor needs.
Handcent here. Been using it since my original Droid days I think. Just fell in love with it. The only other messaging app that I didn't much mind was the stock one on my Galaxy Note 2, but I've since fallen back to the familiar. I find it functional and customizable enough for my tastes.

Handscent here as well... with the group messaging plug-in... got rid of the Emoji plug-in due to it messing with my MMS for some reason... maybe a combination of the two... Main reason I got Handscent was the color customization to match my theme.
I have been using Trillian since the before android. It has been the best way to monitor all my IMs. Different customers all like different IM services and this way I could cover them all.

Default. I used to use go but it got too bloated for my liking and then they disabled backing up of sms to local storage and pushed their cloud backup.

I tried most mostly because there seems to be a growing requirement for emoji. pffft.
All non stock apps except for chomp scroll very poorly when moving and reading through the messages: go, handsent, etc. Chomp is the only one that scrolls smoothly. However, I cannot attach pics or vids - it crashes. contacting the developer said "fixing hopefully in a week" until then I just use stock app o if I need to send a mms. I'd use the stock app but its emoji is very limited. always a compromise isn't it?
Pansi SMS nice simple interface. I use my backup root to save MMS and sms

Thought I was the only one on this. I've been using bitesms on Iphones for years so I've been so used to it, so when I jumped ship and go with the GN2 naturally I had to find somethign similiar. You're right about mms though, but I use stock sms app for that purpose, so chompsms all the way.
Go sms with emoji plug in. Like all the different emojis. Also wife has iphone with ios6 and stock messaging wouldn't show pics of the emojis on her phone. Go sms shows with no problem.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. I have been using chomp sms for the past couple of days and love it. It's not as flashy as go sms is with themes but it make up for it without the constant text messages they send you. I also donated to the dev which got rid of the adds so it almost feels like a stock app. Anyways its a really great app if any of you are interested.

UPDATE:: Thanks to user shinkinrui who pointed an app in the PlayStore, this matter is solved. see post 4
I have been reading through the posts on XDA for quite some time and have taken advantage of the support and ideas posted within. However I don't post often. I have searched around and haven't found anything that touches on the subject, so here it goes.....
Is there a way to have random SMS/MMS alerts on an android device. More specifically, I want to have a folder or group of selected SMS/MMS alerts that would change randomly when an SMS/MMS is received? As an example, if I record my kid crying, laughing, saying different words or phrases and maybe my dog barking etc, could i assign it to a folder and have all the sounds in that folder play randomly as a notification?
It's not a must, but would be a cool feature/mod.......
edit: device info

Is this posted in the wrong place? If so, please move.... Thanks

Hey all.
I recently had the need to send a scheduled text message to someone, but i realized my phone didn't have that option. I searched for a messaging app which could help me send scheduled messages, and i came across GoSms. I tried it,but i didn't like the idea of having 2 sms apps installed. I searched further, and i came across this thread. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471786&page=3
I tried to follow their steps, but i don't know how to decompile apks. Also, when i got to the touchwiz default sms apk,it was labelled SecMmsMultisim.apk as opposed to SecMms.apk which was available in that thread ( Probably because Grand is Dual Sim). Because of this, will the process still be the same?
Or better still,is there a flashable Mod designed for Grand?
Someone please help!

how to do schedule message?
There is actually a app called note 2 hidden settings app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...edium=organic&utm_term=note+2+hidden+settings
It has the option of scheduled messages but it says it won't work on grand however after reboot you can see there is a option for scheduled messages . I haven't tested it but it may or may not work

Here, I made exact as in the given forum guide, Just Screen toggle on off i didnt make any change.
Make sure to backup and delete SecMmsAvMultiSIM.apk and SecMmsAvMultiSIM.odex.
Paste in /system/app.
Thanks all,but i found a "schedule messages" menu in my message options. Thanks a lot!
