[Q] 4.1.2 Expanding Notifications Issue - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I flashed Android Revolution HD 5.0 (4.1.2) and have a problem where I cant expand notifications. I dont mean the drawer, the actual notification for example GMAIL, SMS, Email. As in using two fingers and swiping down to view more information like in 4.1.1. I then tried Wanamlite rom and got the same thing. Then used super-wipe script and still the same. People on Android Revolutions HD's thread have the same issue.
Anyone know anything about this? Seems strange if Samsung disabled it in 4.1.2.
Cheers

Have fun
Samsung Messaging has a crappy theme but it's superior to the stock Messaging app.

Superior in what way?
Thanks a lot!
The standard samsung app is better than stock but graphically deviates too much from holo.
I immediately downloaded the application that you have shown me, but unfortunately doesn't work ... After having opened app it crashes.
In particular, he shows me the list of all messages (distinguishing read from unread) but when I try to go into a conversation stops everything.
I use GoLauncherEx on Samsung official 4.0.3 rom. When the application crashes, even golauncher crashes! For a few seconds the screen is all black (it show me only tray bar)!
I know that GoLauncherEx isn't optimized for ics but is the only launcher that lets me create folders in the program list (I have much application and I need it!).
Actually ICS isn't very stable on my device and I'm almost regretting gingerbread!
I can do anything about it?
Thanks again for your support,
I hope one day I'd help forum people.

That is very strange. Which firmware did you install? I installed XEO (polish version) and didn't get a single crash or problem what so ever. I had a few problems in rooting it, though (needed to wipe it first and re-flash the orginial ICS firmware before rooting to get the root rights recognized). But once that got fixed, everything was and still is perfect.
Or maybe it is because of the go launcher ex? I was using TW the entire afternoon (13.03) without crashes. At night I installed Apex launcher as system launcher and no crashes either (one day running), very low battery consumption and awesome looks. You can add the ICS Theme Pack from kovdev to get the ICS icons.
Hello element!
I've installed the XEO firmware, then polish, just like you.
I have not done the wipe but updated via OTA.
I had already installed GoLauncher. When I've upgraded I've selected Golauncher instead of Tw.
Currently I have encountered frequent application crashes and one total block of the system. The battery, to be honest, I can not tell if it lasts more than gingerbread why I used the phone a lot for various customizations.
I do not know if the problem is that I did not do a wipe.
If he continues to give me problems I do a backup. After I install the rom again.
Tonight I remove the battery and after power on. Tomorrow, we'll update on my test.
PS The biggest problem is GoSmsPro. it sends multiple messages at one time. If I send you a message, you will receive two. I do not know how to solve.
PS2 The root I did with Odin and had no problems ...
Thanks for the help,
Hello!
As I promised you I a write updates.
I solved the problem of low stability: I made a deepclean and then installed applications without syncing (I installed all the applications manually).
Now I have one problem, the phone crashes when I try to change the background. If you have any idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23727272#post23727272
For the rest new rom does not seem bad ...
Thanks for your help,

Hey, check it out: One so called Tim Hutt put the stock calendar, messaging, and launcher app in the market and they all work just fine for me. The apps are called "Android 4 ICS Messaging SMS", "Android 4 ICS Calendar", and "Android 4 ICS Launcher".
The only bug I have (and it's not a big one) is that the screen doesn't light up when you receive a text message... Perhaps this is because I disabled/removed the official Samsung messaging services though... If you leave the default services enabled, then the screen lights up like normal but you have to select a setting in the ICS messaging app to disable the message receiver because then both the Samsung app and the ICS app will both write the text message to the database and you'll have duplicate incoming messages. Just go to settings and scroll to the very bottom to see what I mean... Enable that option if you don't remove the Samsung services/apps.

s5660M and Whatsapp user on CM7.2

Hey Guys
When running an android 2.3.7 CM based ROM, i run into these 2 problems.
1). When i have the chat window open on whatsapp, i have to manually flick the screen up to refresh the chat window to see new messages. for example. Let say im chatting with person B, I will see that person B's status is set to "typing", and then once they stop typing their status will switch to "Online". However i do not see the new message they typed, unless i use my thumb, press down on the screen and flick up to manual refresh the Window. IO have this problem only on CM7 based roms. Does anyone one else have this problem
2) Also, when i record something and send it to another person on whatsapp, the recording is broken, again this only happen on cm7 based roms.
I would appreciate it if anybody else could enlighten me on this issue
Thank You
Try reinstalling watsapp

Fit to screen

I've noticed that "fit to screen" feature doesn't work anymore (neither in Dolphin nor stock browser). Until a few days ago, when I was using pincht zoom, the page reloaded to fit the text to the screen. Now that is not happening anymore.
It's ICS related (I've switched recently to IceColdSandwich) or the new update from Dolphin screwed things over ?
Try asking that on the IceColdSandwich thread. Someone using the same ROM can test it out for you to check whether it's ROM related.

[Q] Facebook SMS in Android 4.2?

I am running a custom rom (MMuzzy) based Android 4.2, and before when i was on Android 4.1 i had the option to do SMS in facebook messenger, but now the option is gone. Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone have an explanation? Also i am running the most current version of Messenger.
I've also been experiencing this, and have found no answer.

Same here - worked on my G-Nex LTE with AOKP 4.1, but no dice after moving up to 4.2. I've uninstalled, re-downloaded, wiped data, etc. It was awesome to use while I had it working. Current Messenger version (find it in settings) for me is 2.2.4 (build 97447); I wish I knew what i had with 4.1

I'm having the same issues on Paranoid Android 2.99+ (Android 4.2.1). It's frustrating. I actually downloaded the Android SDK and used the emulator for Androids 4.0.3 & 4.2. Same issue on all of those too. I tested the FB Messenger app on my gf's Galaxy S3, and it shows up fine on hers. Something is wrong with the Galaxy Nexus and Facebook Messenger.
I have the Nexus 4 and do not have this option. I was hoping it would be there. My GS3 has it. I wonder what the delay is from adding compatibility to other phones? Why only roll this out to a few devices? I would think pure android would be the easiest compatibility to a achieve.
Really missing this feature. Upgraded to a Nexus 4 from an SII, and losing features was not something I expected to happen.
I don't understand what's taking them so long to roll this out to other phones.

Notification bar lags whenever there is something running on background, an app, or an unread notification etc. It lagged in 4.1.1, it lags on 4.1.2.

in your face!
i hate trolls
Well do you think that when your phone has unread notifications, nothing is running on background? It doesn't necessarily have to be an app!
PS: Just watched that video, jeez! That guy has loads of notifications, mine sometimes lag when there is nothing!

AW: Notification bar lags since 4.1.2
I said I have this problem also when titanium backup restored five apps. ...
For each app I got a notification
And the apps are not running. .. they were just restored

I wouldnt worry too much, is your phone dying? No
IS your phone an expensive Paperweight? No ^__^
Back to your question. ITs fine, if it lags for whatever reason then its fine, remember no phone software is perfect ^__^, and it sometimes means that it will lag in some areas, notification bar being one of them,
It's because there are a lot of notifications.
eeehmmm
yes ^^
but why does it NOT lag on samsung android 4.1.1 rom ?
can you tell me that ?
4.1.1 many notifications no lag
4.1.2 many notifications LAG
I have lag too in Notifications in the T-Mobile Note 2.

which version of android pls ?
does no one else notice this lag ^^
I'm on 4.1.1 and have lag once i get about 3 notifications..In any combination(Google now notifications, facebook, texts,GPS connected etc..).But some times I have Lag with out any notifications(rare).
Want to bring a quad core beast to it's knees? Get 6 Notifications that go through the bottom of the screen..Want to really cripple it then upload a few photos or videos to Sky Drive and try and open the shade and look at the progress bar(pull down the shade a few times..I can take a few quirks but for a quad core phone I expect the actual "phone/notification" parts of the phone to be flawless.
this issue is only on the samsung roms try 4.2.1 cm 10.1
I got rhe android revolution 9 hd note 2 and it doesnt lag. Even if there is alot of notifications

Depending on rom in my impressions. Also yes i can say arhd9 gived me the smoothest notif. bar ever i tried , but last builds lags while pinching to zoom (
hopefully its better with android 4.2
i hoped it only was on 4.1.2 and i wanted to switch back to 4.1.1, but as BrianBaker said it also on 4.1.1
